Chapter 73: Chapter 72 Sothing Big is Going to Happen
“Wiped out? No worries, let’s rest for a bit and then continue, the boss’s recovery speed isn’t that fast.”
Mo Shigui, in his spiritual form, was teleported back to the Tower of Trial, where he had to rerun it to reach the dungeon of Lionheart City to resurrect.
However, Mo Shigui knew it was pointless, as all the healers from the Dancing Nuclear Guild had been slaughtered by the intruding yellow wasp knights, and the next mont they targeted the group of Shield Warriors in front.
Both tank and healer gone, this situation could only end in a wipe.
Getting wiped in an instance was quite normal, so the morale of the strategy team mbers wasn’t too affected, but Mo Shigui, in his spiritual state, pondered for a long ti.
If he wanted to resurrect now, he could only do so at the Resurrection Cathedral in Lionheart City.
The problem was… Mo Shigui looked at an item in his backpack that had turned gray.
‘Broken Fureya Charm
Mission Item
Description: This is a charm symbolizing the depletion of life force, with a small inscription in the cracks of the shattered charm, “Kind Holy Spirit, are you safe?”‘
Looking at the description of this item, the first emotion that surged in Mo Shigui’s heart was fear.
So much so that he dared not click the option “Resurrect at the Resurrection Cathedral.”
Be rational! Be rational!
Mo Shigui kept trying to control his emotions.
It’s just an NPC.
Rationally speaking, it’s rely a piece of data turning from ON to OFF.
ON to OFF… ON to OFF… life to death…
The more Mo Shigui thought about it, the less he could control his emotions, feeling as if he had just learned that a loved one had entered the ICU.
He could only stand outside, silently awaiting the arrival of bad news, yet could do nothing about his anxiety.
‘Your ti limit as a Spiritual Body has arrived, you will be automatically resurrected at the Resurrection Cathedral.’
A system notification suddenly popped up in Mo Shigui’s ssage bar, and it took him a mont to rember that players within the Holy Spirit could maintain their spiritual form for a maximum of five minutes.
If the ti passed without running back for a corpse resurrection, the player would automatically resurrect at the Resurrection Cathedral.
Damn!
Mo Shigui only felt a sensation of free falling, and when he opened his eyes again, he was looking at the ceiling of the Resurrection Cathedral.
And he was lying on the holy altar in the center of the cathedral.
Normally, Fureya would say a few lines at this mont, although they were all words filled with concern like “Ah, you’re back.” or “Holy Spirit, please be more careful next ti,” the underlying ssage was “hurry up and get off the resurrection altar to go grind monsters.”
This ti, Mo Shigui seed not to hear Fureya’s greeting, which made him afraid to stand up on the resurrection altar.
“You’re back.”
But then, the next second, that familiar voice, gentle and slow, resonated beside Mo Shigui’s ear; he suddenly stood up from the resurrection altar and looked to the side.
Guardian Spirit·Fureya was standing beside him, unhard.
“Really overthought it.”
In that mont, Mo Shigui laughed at himself sowhat mockingly, knowing the designers would never let such an important NPC perish.
“Kind Spirit, may I hold your hand?” Fureya suddenly made this request, and Mo Shigui caught a hint of pleading in her voice.
“What’s the hidden quest this ti?” Mo Shigui had heard this line from Fureya after being resurrected, but looking into Fureya’s eyes, it was really hard to treat it as a pre-set phrase or a character designed by the system.
He hesitated for a while but finally took off his left arm’s armor and extended his hand toward Fureya.
Fureya also reached out her hands and gently placed them on Mo Shigui’s left hand. At that mont, Mo Shigui felt a warmth, a soft touch, and a human-like body temperature. He could even feel the doll’s heartbeat.
“This is the last thing I can do,” Fureya said softly, her hands beginning to glow faintly.
At hearing this line, Mo Shigui imdiately sensed sothing was amiss. By the ti he realized it, it was already too late—a notification popped up in his ssage bar.
‘Your Corpse Curse has been purified by Guardian Spirit·Fureya.’
“Farewell, Kind Spirit. I am glad to have t you,” Fureya’s next words made Mo Shigui abruptly reach out and grasp her arm tightly.
But it was too late. Fureya weakly kneeled on the ground, and Mo Shigui, just before she fell, released her arm and instead supported her shoulders.
Such a level of contact was previously not allowed, but at that mont, Mo Shigui held Fureya, who had collapsed to the ground, in his arms.
“You can understand , right? Not just so system-set line—you have your own thoughts! You know what I am saying!” Mo Shigui, feeling her gradually weakening breaths, shouted uncontrollably, “Answer !”
Fureya’s eyes blinked a few tis, her cherry-red lips quivered several tis as if trying to speak, but she no longer had the strength to talk.
“I am listening this ti,” Mo Shigui brought his ear close to Fureya’s lips, and heard a voice similar to before, tinged with fear and longing.
“Will you… rember ?”
After uttering these words in a barely audible voice, Fureya’s pupils lost their sparkle, and her mouth gradually changed from glossy cherry lips to the lips of a doll.
Her skin took on a paint-like texture, and her arms, which returned to being doll joints, slid down. Mo Shigui’s arms trembled as he felt Fureya in his arms losing her warmth and turning into a rigid block of wood, and his entire hand shook uncontrollably.
Is this what you call an NPC?
Is this REALLY an NPC?
Mo Shigui hugged Fureya who had turned into a doll-state, his teeth clenched without tears, only a rage burning from within.
At that mont, he really couldn’t tell whether the words spoken by the NPC within the spirit were system preset or ca from her own thoughts.
But one thing Mo Shigui was certain of, he had to resurrect Fureya.
There was only one way to resurrect her… to hunt down the Wasp Knight!
Because the one who killed him the third ti was not the Wolf Knight, but the Wasp Knight.
Fureya’s spirit had been taken by the Wasp Knight.
Mo Shigui placed the comatose Fureya on the resurrection platform, then quickly dashed out of the Resurrection Cathedral’s doors; outside, a Velvet Rabbit and part of the elite strategy team mbers of the Dancing Nuclear Guild had been waiting for Mo Shigui for a long ti.
“Guild leader, shall we continue to go back and fight the Wolf Knight?”
“Where is the Wasp Knight?” Mo Shigui asked his guild mbers responsible for intelligence.
“Wasp Knight… Guild leader, that’s the boss managed by the Abyss Temple. That boss invading our instance battlefield and causing us to wipe was really embarrassing, but if we now preemptively target the Wasp Knight from the Abyss Temple, wouldn’t that tarnish our guild’s reputation?”
“You just need to tell where she is!” Mo Shigui said.
