Chapter 587: Chapter 566: Wan Xiang’s Awakening (2nd Update)

Wan Xiang also returned to the Breeder’s main city from the Void Lockdown instance.

Unlike “Add Milk Without Raising Price,” her profession as a Hawkeye didn’t allow her to hold on for long. She had been killed by the Void Swarm less than half an hour after entering the Void Lockdown instance.

Wan Xiang paid a price for this; her level dropped directly from seventy to sixty-eight with eighty-nine percent of the experience accumulated.

This left Wan Xiang sowhat downcast as she sat on the bench in the Breeder’s main city and opened the level leaderboard.

The na “Add Milk Without Raising Price” hung high at the fifth position on the leaderboard.

There was indeed a competitive streak in Wan Xiang’s nature, but this competitiveness and self-confidence had been hit repeatedly after playing “Sacred Spirit.”

There were just too many players stronger than her in “Sacred Spirit,” and even more professions better than Hawkeye.

The Hawkeye was rely a functional profession; the difficulty of instances in “Sacred Spirit” had never been too high before, but this ti, the Void Lockdown instance made Wan Xiang realize the limitations of the Hawkeye profession.

But Wan Xiang didn’t plan to abandon her profession because it was her hobby, her chosen profession, and the area where she excelled over the vast majority of “Sacred Spirit” players.

However, the problem was how could she catch up with everyone else?

Everyone was really running so fast… they were out of sight in the blink of an eye.

This was what truly made Wan Xiang feel desperate and frustrated; the “everyone” she referred to included the Dancing Nuclear Guild, Naless ones, and other top players of “Sacred Spirit.”

Before the arrival of the Void Swarm patch, Wan Xiang could still serve as the main damage dealer, welcod by almost all top guild teams, but now… Hawkeye was no longer a profession needed by the patch, it was a profession abandoned by the patch.

The levels of friends known to Wan Xiang, including Jiang Qiao, had reached seventy, or even seventy-five…

She didn’t like to drag anyone down and didn’t want to beco the weakest link in the team to be kicked out, especially not wanting to disappoint Jiang Qiao.

It was Jiang Qiao who initially invited her to join the Black Ash Knights’ raid team… but now, as Jiang Qiao faced the dangers of Void Erosion, all Wan Xiang could do was stand by and watch.

She… didn’t want to experience that feeling of helplessness from a few days ago ever again.

What should she do… increase her leveling ti?

Wan Xiang had already skipped many elective courses recently, balancing studies and gaming was already very exhausting for her.

“‘Sacred Spirit,’ you seem quite unwilling to accept this?”

A strange voice erged next to Wan Xiang’s ear, and she suddenly looked up… to find an elderly lady standing before her, soone she vaguely recognized.

“You are…” Before Wan Xiang could finish, she realized her location had changed.

It was no longer the park outside Sustainable City, but in a strange place.

This made Wan Xiang imdiately stand up and raise her ‘Death’s Song’ to aim at the person before her.

“Alma, in your ‘Sacred Spirit’ setting, is the hidden ruler of Sustainable City,” the sniper Alma gave a very brief introduction of herself.

“May I ask… what do you need?”

If it hadn’t been for the fact that the na above Alma’s head was green, representing a friendly faction, Wan Xiang might have pulled the trigger of her sniper rifle right away.

“Do a test.”

“A test?”

What Wan Xiang found curious was that her conversation with the sniper Alma… had no dialogue box.

“Holy Spirit, you are troubled by the shortcomings of your profession,” said Rifle Alma with a discerning look, as a hourglass suddenly materialized in her hand and she presented it to Wan Xiang.

This special hourglass had not just one funnel at the top and bottom, but a total of four funnels.

“In my eyes, your Holy Spirit profession is like this hourglass; the sand inside the hourglass is all the sa, but so funnels will always have a bit more sand, while others will have less, and your profession is just like that.”

The first two funnels in Rifle Alma’s hourglass contained a vast majority of the sand, revealing ‘long-range attack’ and ‘stealth ability’ above them, while the other two funnels, which hardly had any sand, read ‘defensive power’ and ‘lee ability’.

“This is the case for most Holy Spirit professions, it’s all about balancing for you,” Rifle Alma said as the hourglass in her hand suddenly stretched out, adding several more funnels. But no matter how the sand was distributed, the amount within was always the sa. “Perhaps so of you exceptional Holy Spirits may obtain more sand than the average one, but essentially, it’s because that’s all the Devouring God energy you can endure.”

Jiang Qiao also works on profession balancing, but when facing external enemies, of course, he hopes that each Holy Spirit profession’s combat power is freakishly strong. However, the amount of power the players can withstand is limited.

Therefore, Jiang Qiao had no choice but to specialize each profession’s tendencies, giving player teams more options when facing complex situations.

“I know.”

Wan Xiang knew too well that her Hawk Eye was a… sowhat lackluster profession in a highly variable stealth-based online ga; it was usually the case.

Wan Xiang had done her best to shape the battlefield to suit her profession, just like a true high-level player would, creating an environnt favorable for her attacks.

But this was too demanding for a Hawk Eye.

“I can add so grains to you, Holy Spirit,” Rifle Alma said as a small cluster of silver sand appeared in her hand and was injected into the hourglass representing Wan Xiang. “To make it less… skewed in one direction.”

“What do you want in return?”

Wan Xiang beca extrely vigilant in an instant, like a traveler who encounters a wolf in grandma’s clothing offering candy along the way.

“To test so things, and I’ve observed your performance on the battlefield; among all the creatures I’ve encountered, you are one of the most talented, although you are nowhere near my current apprentice,” Rifle Alma added, not forgetting to show off Rosh.

Wan Xiang guessed who Rifle Alma was referring to; Rosh, who had once reached the highest rank of champions, was indeed beyond her current state.

Wan Xiang had also competed in the arena, with her best result being Diamond V.

“If it’s a hidden mission, then I… accept,” Wan Xiang didn’t wish to beco much stronger. She only hoped to keep up with everyone else and not be kicked out of that circle.

“Don’t accept it too hastily; my involvent might just disrupt the so-called… profession balance you Holy Spirits have, and you might face the punishnt of account banning,” Alma warned.

The learning ability of Rifle Alma was very quick, mainly because the handbook in the instance lord dormitory provided her with plenty of details on Holy Spirits’ habits and common language.

“Banning…”

If Wan Xiang rembered correctly, just a while ago Holy Spirits had banned a batch of accounts for not logging in for too long and for their levels stagnating, hence Jiang Qiao transferred the privilege of playing to other players more willing to devote their ti to Holy Spirits.

But this also ant that the ga indeed implented bans.

“However, given the current major enemy at hand, I don’t think your representatives will mind the profession balance, it’s a pity the Devouring God’s power has too strong a rejection, otherwise Holy Spirits would have sufficient ans to arm themselves on a large scale,” Alma seed to regret not being able to build an army that combines the Sanctuary’s technology with Holy Spirits.

“Representatives… who are they?” Wan Xiang caught on to a more crucial keyword instead.

“That’s not sothing I can answer for you. And rember, I’m far stricter than any instructor you’ve t in the real world. Are you prepared to endure hardship?” Alma’s expression gradually shifted from kind to severe.

“As long as… I don’t get downgraded again.”

Right now, Wan Xiang wasn’t afraid of anything except the possibility of her level dropping from sixty-eight back to sixty-seven!

Yet, she must catch up with everyone else; at the very least, when she stood beside Jiang Qiao, she didn’t want to be protected by him!
