Chapter 533: Chapter 522 Connection (1st Update)
Things have gone terribly wrong in various ways.
Jiang Qiao was very concerned about the players’ physical condition, followed by the reputation issue of Holy Spirit City’s leveling service.
It wasn’t just the Holy Light Goddess who was injured by Qi Junzi’s runaway powers, but also a multitude of other gods from the Order Sanctuary and the civilians from the Sustainable Sanctuary.
They had experienced the might of the Devouring God’s ancient power, and the feeling that their wounds could not be healed plunged them into panic.
“Who is injured? I can heal them!”
The Fluffy Rabbit was also one of the mbers responsible for protecting these custors, but when she spoke, the gods and civilians from the Sustainable Sanctuary all looked at her with eyes filled with fear.
Jiang Qiao had not experienced the agony caused by the power of the Devouring God, but he could imagine that the feeling of wounds not healing was far from pleasant.
When those gods and civilians from the Order Sanctuary looked at the Fluffy Rabbit with scared eyes, Jiang Qiao could feel that Hai Lan, who was invisibly by his side, also had a look of loss and slight sadness on her face.
“I can handle it,” Jiang Qiao whispered to Hai Lan, at the sa ti prying open her clenched hand and gently squeezing it, as if to comfort her.
Although Hai Lan was sowhat like a cat in the ecosystem of Jiang Qiao’s ho, when the master of the house was unhappy, Jiang Qiao would still try his best to comfort her.
Just as Jiang Qiao was about to step forward to say sothing, the Holy Light Goddess, her body covered in wounds, approached Zhao Mingwei… and Qi Junzi, who had already logged off, leaving only a body behind.
“What’s wrong with her? Can I heal her?” The Holy Light Goddess didn’t mind that she had been injured by the previous outburst of power from Qi Junzi, knowing Qi Junzi was a victim of the accident, too.
“You probably can’t this ti, Fluffy Rabbit, please heal the injuries on her body,” Zhao Mingwei shouted to the only healer present.
Although injuries received in the Path to Ascension are healed when exiting the ga, the wounds caused by the Devouring God were not so easily nded, and leaving the ga would always result in so side effects.
The Fluffy Rabbit did not bother explaining to those people and directly released a group healing spell, initially curing all the wounds caused by the outburst of Qi Junzi’s magic sword.
Zhao Mingwei no longer had the heart to play the ga; after confirming that Qi Junzi’s body in the ga had vanished, he opened the system interface ready to log off and check on Qi Junzi’s physical condition in reality.
“Mingwei, Holy Spirit City has released a new promotional video,” Mo Shigui inford Zhao Mingwei just before he logged off.
“Got it.”
Zhao Mingwei clicked the button to exit the ga. He opened his eyes inside the VR equipnt and imdiately headed towards another room where a gaming chamber was placed.
Qi Junzi had just stepped out of the gaming chamber and was tidying up her slightly disheveled long hair.
“Captain? I feel like I was forcibly logged off just now… Was it the safety chanism of this gaming chamber?”
Qi Junzi appeared slightly embarrassed; she knew better than anyone that she had been forcibly logged off because she was too weak to fully control her own power.
“Can… I touch your wrist?” After hearing Qi Junzi complain for a little while, Zhao Mingwei made a request that left her stunned.
“My wrist? I guess it’s okay, but why specifically the hand… Captain?” After agreeing, Zhao Mingwei imdiately grabbed Qi Junzi’s wrist, feeling the pulse.
Zhao Mingwei certainly wasn’t skilled in taking pulses, but the knowledge of ridians granted by the power of the Mind Energy Master allowed him to understand whether a person’s body was normal based on their pulse.
“Holy Spirit City has released a new CG, do you want to watch it?” After confirming that Qi Junzi’s pulse was normal, Zhao Mingwei suggested to her.
“Captain!” Just as Qi Junzi was bracing herself to say sothing, the other three teammates from the villa appeared out of nowhere.
“Hey, Captain! Holy Spirit City has a new CG… Did we interrupt you guys?”
“No!”
Qi Junzi passed by Zhao Mingwei and walked out of the training room to the living room, where the new CG from Holy Spirit City was already playing.
The new CG was titled “Connection.”
The CG still employed the comic style of the previous “Weakness,” although “Weakness” had a fast pace and was dominated by the dark colors of red, blue, and purple. In contrast, the current CG’s style was sowhat warr.
Moreover… this CG was in the first person.
Seen from the first-person perspective of a player, the CG summarized, using a montage technique, the player’s interaction with NPCs in Holy Spirit City and on Biland Island.
An important feature in the first part of the CG was that after each interaction, there would be signs indicating an increase or decrease in favorability.
As the player got to know more and more NPCs, more nas were added to his social list. Eventually, he started the journey of the Path to Ascension, where he t many new friends, including both players and NPCs.
Just when Lin Xi was watching the CG and yawning, the female lead of the CG finally appeared… To Qi Junzi’s dissatisfaction, this female lead clearly seed to be modeled after the Holy Light Goddess.
However, it was clear that the CG’s protagonist was a Berserker. After that, the content of the CG straightforwardly shifted to romance.
In just three minutes, the CG portrayed everything from chance encounters to growing familiarity after coincidental etings and mutual affection, with all developnts tending towards a slice-of-life direction, mundane enough to bore the viewer.
This went on until the screen of the Berserker player gradually turned blood red.
It was then that Qi Junzi noticed that since the beginning of the CG, the image quality had been gradually reddening, until at this mont it beca visible to the naked eye… that the protagonist’s pupils had been overtaken by a crimson hue.
The power surge was uncontrollable. Amidst an instance along the Path to Ascension, when the screen flashed red and then darkened, the protagonist already found himself amidst a pool of blood, while the female lead, as one would expect, was severely injured. The NPCs accompanying them also harbored fearful attitudes towards this Berserker player.
As per usual, the female lead wasn’t afraid of the protagonist no matter how badly she was injured by him.
Up to this point, Qi Junzi found the CG sowhat tedious, as he had guessed many of the plot points already. It was probably the mont when the protagonist’s power went uncontrollable that caused a slight stir in Qi Junzi’s heart.
It seems the ga officials knew that players using gaming pods could experience situations where they couldn’t control their own strength. This was no ga BUG!
But to Qi Junzi, the rest of the content seed a bit dull.
“Does it feel like this CG wasn’t as good as the last one?” Lin Xi seed to share the sa opinion.
“Indeed… The last CG from ‘The Weak’ was being discussed all over the Internet. This ti, the CG is too bland, lacking impact, right? Or maybe it feels too daily-life?” Xiao Xingchuan himself was not sure how to evaluate this CG.
Qi Junzi didn’t join in their discussion. The CG continued silently to the end, where the color tone transitioned to a warm hue as if standing in the sunlight, and from the first-person perspective, a woman in a wedding dress also appeared.
“She’s getting married now? Who’s the player in the CG? When I chased after NPCs back then, why couldn’t I ever increase the favorability?” Lin Xi, hearing the wedding bells ringing in the CG, was completely dumbfounded.
But his confusion was short-lived compared to Qi Junzi’s, because the last ten seconds were the most crucial part of the CG.
The scene switched again, and the NPC girl the player married was holding a crying infant in her arms. As soon as the baby saw the player arrive, it stopped crying and reached out a tiny hand, seemingly trying to grasp sothing.
The favorability system even displayed its values on the infant.
A child-rearing system… just like Zhao Mingwei said, it was sowhat underwhelming. However, Qi Junzi watched sowhat absent-mindedly, but before she could open her mouth to say sothing,
When the CG’s protagonist reached out to touch the infant, the entire scene suddenly changed. His vision was once again flooded with a crimson hue, and in that mont, the CG’s protagonist abruptly covered his hand and retreated several steps.
The female lead holding the infant moved forward to get closer to him, but the scene shook violently, suggesting that the protagonist, stumbling, had fled the place.
“Why run away?” Xiao Xingchuan couldn’t help but ask.
“Afraid of losing control over his power and hurting the baby? Why do I feel this CG is full of malice towards the Berserker players?”
Qi Junzi didn’t speak; she stared at her own hands, lost in thought.
anwhile, in the CG, the protagonist ended up alone in a secluded corner, leaning against a tree as he sat down. Once seated, his gaze kept fixating on his own hands as the scene switched incessantly between his normal hands and hands covered in blood. It seed the protagonist’s ntal state was nearing collapse.
But then, suddenly, a sound effect familiar to all Holy Spirit City players rang out—it was the sound of receiving a ssage.
There wasn’t just one ssage. The first ssage reading “Where are you?” popped up, followed by greetings from other players and NPCs that took over the protagonist’s blood-red vision and filled the entire screen.
Eventually, the scene gradually dimd into pitch black, and in the darkness, one last ssage popped up.
The content of the ssage was “Waiting for you to co back.”
This concluded the entire CG.
“Why do I feel like I didn’t understand it? I thought the CG would show so of the first Holy Spirit League content, but what’s all this about?” After watching, Lin Xi imdiately voiced a bunch of question marks.
The other teammates from Team Junlin also admitted their confusion, all except Qi Junzi and Zhao Mingwei.
“I’m going to train.”
After leaving these words behind, Qi Junzi silently headed towards the training room.
“Next instance?” Zhao Mingwei suddenly asked. Qi Junzi paused in her steps, turned her head back, and gave a slight nod.
Thus, Lin Xi and Xiao Xingchuan, along with Ning Feng who was yawning, secretly watched the two of them.
“Teaming up for the next instance, what are you waiting for? Log in.”
Zhao Mingwei noticed the three of them looking and ordered them to get ready, speaking with the authority of a team captain.
……
Atomic Dance Club.
After watching the CG, Mo Shigui yawned just like most others; frankly, there wasn’t much in the CG that caught his interest.
Whether it was the NPC social favorability system or the possible introduction of the child-rearing system, Mo Shigui wasn’t much interested.
But inside the Atomic Dance training room, the other players were teasing Juan Canyun, and even if the child-rearing system turned out to be just a for-show pet as Zhao Mingwei had ntioned, that didn’t stop the players from gossiping about the relationship between Juan Canyun and the Lady of Calamity.
Just as Mo Shigui was beginning to feel drowsy, his phone suddenly received a special notification. It was from his girlfriend.
‘I won a test qualification for the ga called “Holy Spirit,” and it ca with a device called a gaming pod…’
The mont Mo Shigui saw the ssage, a jolt of alertness washed over him.
