Chapter 524: Chapter 513: Rampage (1st Update! Vote for Monthly Tickets!!)
Zhao Mingwei’s usual training dojo had now been thoroughly transford into a space for the Lion Heart Yoga Club mbers to practice.
However, Lion Heart Yoga Club was a rather loose organization, without any specific standards for mbership; any passerby player could join, provided they could hold their own in front of a group of top-tier, highly dedicated players.
Today, the dojo welcod a rather special guest—a caffeine addict who was a fan of Cola, a player of the Ghost Cry profession.
Zhao Mingwei was familiar with the Ghost Cry profession; although the professions of the Spirit Ga were varied and complex, the popular ones ultimately boiled down to just twenty or thirty. In the competitive arena, it was quite rare to co across a particularly unique subclass.
“If I’m not mistaken, isn’t Ghost Cry currently ranked thirteenth in the Spirit Ga population census?”
Jiang Qiao grabbed a chair to sit next to Zhao Mingwei, looking into the distance where the caffeine-addicted Cola fanatic was warming up before practicing his skills. His sparring partner was none other than Caral, the team captain of the Cola fanatics.
Jiang Qiao knew that Caffeine logged into the ga using a ga pod, which could achieve the effect of playing on a mobile device—that is to say, a player could get a hundred percent feedback on all five senses: touch, sll, taste, vision, and hearing, and even feel the flow of their own internal force.
But not all forces in the Spirit Ga professions were as positive or neutral as those of the Prayer, Demon Exorcist, or Elental Mage; among the profession designs and the power traditions Jiang Qiao found, there were also many ‘evil’ and ‘frenzied’ forces.
The Power of Ghost God inherent in Ghost Cry and the Blood Qi Power of the Berserker were two typical forces that ca with… substantial negative effects.
The Power of Ghost God could cause ntal instability in the user, while the Blood Qi Power, in addition to making one berserk, carried a significant probability of damaging the user’s body.
In the past, when everyone used VR gear, these forces were just like the electricity in a battery, with no major impact. But with the introduction of ga pods, players could finally perform ‘fine control’ over their powers.
Jiang Qiao was uncertain whether such negative forces would affect the players themselves, especially the Blood Qi Power.
According to the current Spirit Ga population census, the most popular profession remained the Swordsman, without any controversy. If you walked down the street, two out of every ten Spirit Ga players would be Swordsn, followed by Mind Energy Master players…
Perhaps it was because of Zhao Mingwei’s high popularity, which led a large number of followers to jump on the bandwagon, that the Berserker was the third-ranking profession.
“Ugh… I don’t really like the aura of that horse-headed Spirit.” Yelena, also an onlooker, clutched at Zhao Mingwei’s sleeve and stood by his side.
“You can feel it?” Jiang Qiao looked at Yelena in surprise; NPCs should, in theory, not be able to sense whether the power within a Spirit was good or bad—perhaps it was because of the ga pod.
“Mm-hmm… I’ve seen this horse-headed Spirit several tis before, and it has never made feel so uncomfortable before…” Yelena hid behind Zhao Mingwei, looking at the distant Caffeine, who was wearing a zebra headgear. “It feels like an ice cube soaked in mud, with tons of poisonous bugs crawling around…”
“Caffeine would be quite sad to hear such a description,” Jiang Qiao couldn’t help but comnt, sowhat concerned.
In the past, when players used VR gear to play, all skill effects were essentially just models.
To NPCs, watching Add Milk Not Charge cast a Holy Light Prayer felt the sa as watching Caffeine cast a Death Tombstone; just a bunch of special effects falling to the ground, to then deal damage.
The essence of the attacks was the Devouring God’s power, but the seeds of power Jiang Qiao planted in the players had finally taken root and sprouted.
In the past, Magic Thieves were able to feel that the forces controlled by players were different; and now that Yelena could tell, just by looking, that Caffeine’s body was filled with that… potent Ghost God aura, it indicated that from the mont Caffeine logged in using the ga pod, that power was no longer just a ga statistic, but a true force that existed in this world.
“Captain, I’m feeling great right now. You better watch out,” said Caffeine, who felt as expanded as a bubble, the powerful flow of the Ghost God within him causing him to beco sowhat forgetful of himself.
This sensation of being able to do anything and control everything spread rampantly through his consciousness.
“Co on,” Caral tensed up, without underestimating his teammate, and stayed focused on Caffeine’s movents.
The profession of Ghost Cry, also known as Soul ssenger, was tasked with collecting Ghost Gods, starting from the original four major Ghost Gods up to a total of six additional ones. Caffeine was undoubtedly one of the best Ghost Cry players in the entire server, now in control of seven major Ghost Gods.
What made the profession distinctive was its ability to summon various Ghost Gods to form a ‘ghost formation’ within a certain range, focusing mainly on control in combat.
The mont Zhao Mingwei announced the start of the duel, Caral charged out.
Caral’s Moonlight Sword clashed with Caffeine’s Netherfla Sword, but before Caral could follow up with his next attack, he felt a chill creeping in at his feet; a pale blue ghostly figure appeared behind Caffeine.
The Ice Ghost God!
By the ti Caral realized, his feet were already covered in frost. He forcefully broke through the ice using his feet and delivered a sword slash—not to attack but to create distance and leap out of the range of the Frost Ghost God Formation.
The radius of the Frost Ghost God Formation that Caffeine summoned was only one ter, quite small. However, in PVP, unlike PVE, the formation didn’t need to be large; it simply had to be effective.
Yet, the frost formations Caffeine usually summoned had a radius of at least three ters, and Caral identified the reason for its reduced size—the absence of the preliminary skill-casting animations.
“It’s true; I can cast it without any casting motions.” Caffeine gripped his hand incredulously, feeling as if he had simply issued a command to the Frost Ghost God, which then erged from his body to form the formation.
“But the effect will be diminished, so… co forth, Netherworld Fla Ghost God!”
Caffeine drew his right arm, engraved with a multitude of ‘God Descent Inscriptions,’ across the blade in his hand. The God Descent Inscriptions emitted a pitch-black glow, and behind Caffeine appeared the spectral figure of a masked woman, while his blade also burst into pitch-black flas.
This ti, he wasn’t activating the skill without any preliminary moves or cast ti; all preliminary actions were ready, and the cast was complete. Combined with Caffeine’s power to guide it, the Netherworld Fla Ghost God summoned by Caffeine was enveloped in a force far stronger than the ghostly spirits Caffeine had previously called upon with the system’s assistance, and its size had increased by half.
Caral didn’t care about any ghosts or spirits. After preparing himself for battle, he drew his sword and charged at Caffeine once again.
The black flas from the Netherworld Fla Ghost God that clung to Caffeine’s blade passed through Caral’s Moonlight Sword during their clash, directly and forcefully inflicting damage on Caral.
In the midst of battle, Caffeine recklessly unleashed the Power of Ghost God within him, and six out of the seven major ghostly spirits he had collected ca forth at Caffeine’s summons.
The Plague Ghost God, Erosion Ghost God, Sword Ghost God, Ice Ghost God, Netherworld Fla Ghost God, Ghost of Residual Shadow… Of these, the formation created by the first five ghostly spirits covered the entire space of the dojo, leaving Caral with nowhere to hide!
Caral was now entangled by a multitude of Plague Ghost God’s clones, suffering from blood loss, blindness, sluggishness, and a series of other negative states.
Seizing the opportunity, Caffeine prepared to deal a Critical Strike to Caral, but what t him head-on was a charged slash from Caral’s greatsword.
“You’re still too slow!” Caral’s voice echoed throughout the dojo, as a fierce Sword Qi slashed from his hand, cutting through the ghost formation floating inside the dojo. Although it quickly regenerated, the strike hit Caffeine, and in an instant, his health was reduced to just one-tenth of its total.
Caffeine collapsed on the ground, realizing that Caral needed only another five-stage slash or similar skill to finish him off; he was ready to concede defeat.
But while he was prepared to admit defeat, the ghostly spirits he had summoned seed to have no intention of giving up.
Caffeine had been too unrestrained in battle, and although he did indeed possess absolute control over the six major ghostly spirits, the seventh ghostly spirit buried deep within him was… no longer able to contain itself!
“Swamp? Caffeine! You’re cheating! Didn’t you say no awakening before the fight?” a spectator shouted.
“I didn’t activate any awakening, what’s going on… awakening skill is on cooldown?”
Caffeine was stunned as he realized that the ground where he had been sitting had turned into a complete swamp and quagmire. Amidst a terrifying roar, a behemoth of a Ghost God leaped out of the mire and lunged at Caral.
The seventh ghostly spirit! Devouring Ghost God!
Caral dodged the awakening that, while vast in range, was too sluggish to be effective. According to the rules, the seventh ghostly spirit should have vanished after one bite, but it hadn’t…
It bit through the dojo’s wall and then, turning its massive body, lunged at Caral again.
“Caffeine, just cancel the awakening, damn it!” the spectators panicked as they watched the seventh ghostly spirit wreaking havoc.
“I… can’t cancel it.” Caffeine kept calling out with his mind, urging the seventh ghostly spirit, which was as huge as a whale, to stop, but it paid no heed to Caffeine’s pleas.
As Caffeine’s magic energy rapidly diminished, the seventh ghostly spirit continued to devour parts of the dojo, causing Caffeine’s magic energy to rise slightly.
Just as the situation was gradually descending into chaos, Zhao Mingwei suddenly heard Yelena’s frightened voice.
“Master…” Yelena tugged at Zhao Mingwei’s sleeve. Zhao Mingwei, coming back to his senses, turned to look at Yelena, then his gaze fell on her legs.
The erosion of the Ghost God…
Zhao Mingwei sensed the presence of the Ghost God on Yelena’s legs.
Of all the spectators present, only Yelena had a corporeal body of flesh and blood; the other players were beings of energy, so the Ghost God’s erosion had taken hold on Yelena’s legs unbeknownst to anyone else.
“Caffeine! Why don’t you just off yourself instead? Or log off?” soone yelled loudly.
At that mont, the seventh ghostly spirit, poised to destroy everything, charged towards the spectator stand where Zhao Mingwei stood.
Zhao Mingwei imdiately crouched, placed his left hand firmly on the ground covered by the Ghost God Swamp, and stared intently at the seventh ghostly spirit approaching from afar with a terrifying gaze.
“Be quiet!”
The mont Zhao Mingwei’s voice sounded, the rampaging Mind Energy surged into the Ghost God Swamp, the sound of thunder and the roar of a lion rose behind Zhao Mingwei, overpowering the howl of the seventh ghostly spirit.
The wild Mind Energy radiated from Zhao Mingwei’s palms on the ground, spreading instantaneously throughout the dojo.
In an instant, Zhao Mingwei’s magic energy was halved, but in exchange, the seventh ghostly spirit exploded into a pile of mud under the onslaught of lightning, disappearing from the dojo.
By then, the dojo had been nearly destroyed by the rampaging seventh ghostly spirit.
