Chapter 313: Chapter 302: Where Does the Charm of the Faction Leader Co From? (2nd Update.) Chapter 313: Chapter 302: Where Does the Charm of the Faction Leader Co From? (2nd Update.) “This idea is feasible.”
Jiang Qiao rarely took a look at the player suggestions submitted today.
Most of the ti, the suggestion list was filled with unhelpful comnts like ‘Damn ga designers! Give a ga slot!’ or ‘Please release Fureya’s lingerie costu… or even a swimsuit would be great!’
No, that’s wrong—the swimsuit idea is feasible.
But today, a player with the ID Yin Hui wrote a suggestion as lengthy as the initial complaint letter written by Denghis Xisi, a mini-essay of twenty to thirty thousand words.
Jiang Qiao, of course, knew who was behind the ID Yin Hui, the elusive owner behind the Dynamic Nucleus, and the leading supporter of the Spirit Fund. Spending so much effort on a mini-essay, it was only natural for Jiang Qiao to read it thoroughly and distill the central idea.
“Bringing the Magic Thieves of the Black Tide Island and those dragons into the Inner World? Hmm… I could indeed create a piece of equipnt or chanism that allows the spirits to build teleportation gates during battle, but the spirits might not necessarily be able to capture the Magic Thieves.”
Hai Lan was nibbling on a bucket of ice cream right then. Seeing her eat it with such gusto, Jiang Qiao could only say that it’s good not to have periods as a goddess.
“You don’t have to worry about that. The Magic Thieves on Black Tide Island are probably all wanted throughout the island… Extra cream, no extra charge.”
Jiang Qiao sent a window interface to Hai Lan; he knew everything in the players’ backpacks down to the last detail.
Extra cream, no extra charge had stolen a great item from the treasure vault of the Plague Lady… to the players, it was just a main quest item, but to Jiang Qiao, it was an object that gave him the initiative in the battle for Black Tide Island.
Hai Lan eyed the window interface sent by Jiang Qiao, which displayed the description of an item that looked like a tallic egg.
‘A tal prison sealing an Island Master’
Special Item
Description: This tal prison was crafted by the extinct Unit or the Breeders. The life form sealed within is one of the most important Island Masters of Black Tide Island and is not a dragon-type Island Master but a being with its own consciousness.
Function: None.’
This was a description only Jiang Qiao the ga designer could see. If Extra cream, no extra charge looked at this tallic egg… they’d only see data filled with question marks.
“A person… An Island Master possessing its own consciousness, isn’t that the Yelena who’s always calling out ‘master, master’?” Hai Lan, the mother of all players, didn’t just rember the nas of all her players, she also rembered those NPCs close to them.
And one of the most special NPCs might be Yelena; she chose to abandon the path to becoming a perfect crystal species and instead followed Zhao Mingwei to learn the way of psychic energy.
Now Yelena had made modest achievents in psychic energy and had leveled up from thirty-five to forty-three. Although she was still far behind her master, Zhao Mingwei, Yelena was working hard to catch up.
But Jiang Qiao hadn’t forgotten another identity of Yelena’s, that she was the Island Master for whom Denghis Xisi would rather dismantle the Dynamic Nucleus base itself than fail to bring her back.
From the mories of Denghis Xisi, Jiang Qiao knew that if Yelena were to beco a perfect crystal species, her affinity and fusion index with the consciousness of Biland Island would far surpass the other Magic Thieves.
If other Magic Thieves scored one, Yelena scored a thousand or even ten thousand, making her a ‘queen bee’… able to influence the consciousness of Biland Island with her own thoughts.
The tallic egg Extra cream, no extra charge stole contained the ‘queen bee’ of the Black Tide Island’s Hive Consciousness.
“Based on my deduction, it must’ve been the Breeders who imprisoned this ‘queen bee’ for a long ti. The Magic Thieves managed to rescue it, but on the way, they got ambushed by the Plague Lady, a dinsional pirate who had been tracking them for a long ti,” Jiang Qiao explained.
“So you an if we hold onto this egg, the Magic Thieves will co to the Inner World or to Biland Island by themselves… to snatch the egg?” Hai Lan asked after swallowing her ice cream. “But there can’t possibly be just one ‘queen bee’ on Black Tide Island, right?”
“Definitely more than one, but not many.”
Jiang Qiao waved his hand and opened a teleportation gate; it was a portal to the Pirate City on Black Tide Island.
“Now that we understand what the main BOSS of Black Tide Island is, all that’s left is to teach those NPCs on Black Tide Island how to… interact with NPCs and players and assign them tasks,” Jiang Qiao said.
………
In the Pirate City, inside the Council Hall of Black Tide Island.
The idea of pirates forming a council sounded odd, but the three major pirate groups had been cooperating under Drake’s leadership for over a decade.
This city fulfilled every stereotype people had about pirates: damp, cold, dirty, cluttered, with all sorts of seafood hanging from giant hooks, their blood pooling on the streets, and at tis one could see ghostly old wooden houses, and docks covered in barnacles.
This was not a city established on Black Tide Island; it was a… mobile city! A massive mothership, the three major pirate groups followed it around the star chart, plundering at will.
Currently… their target was everything on Black Tide Island, and the city was stationed above it.
The temporary city built by the pirates was the one that was rooted on Black Tide Island and destined to be abandoned.
Whereas this ancient Pirate City had wandered the star chart for centuries and could even be rated as the worst city in the whole star chart. Why? Because violence and cri were rampant, it had the largest population below the poverty line in the entire star chart, and it couldn’t be denied that this was true.
But still, people flocked to it ceaselessly; the city always offered a glimr of hope. Even if it was all lies and illusions…
*cough* Anyway, being filthy and disordered was written into the very genes of the city…
It was only after the Holy Spirit arrived that the Grand Leader Drake made a sweeping gesture and began a cultural reform, completely eliminating the traditional cultural heritage shops of the pirates during this overhaul.
The rank-and-file pirates protested on the streets several tis, but the three pirate faction leaders couldn’t hear this protest at the ti.
“When exactly will those Holy Spirits formally arrive on Black Tide Island? Land City is almost surrounded by those Magic Thieves!”
Lady Calamity slapped her hand on the wooden table carrying the map of Black Tide Island; after her left hand got infected by the abyss, she replaced it with a chanical hand produced by the Breeders as soon as she returned to the pirate’s city.
Initially, Lady Calamity refused, as she detested the influence of these machines, but she knew her future battles would be against the abyss… and the less flesh to fight the abyss with, the better.
The pirates had established an outpost on Black Tide Island – Land City… which now found itself completely encircled by the Magic Thieves.
Lady Calamity knew it must be because of the tal egg she had stolen, but what frustrated her even more… was that her egg had been snatched away by a Holy Spirit!
“Don’t worry, once I take care of all the responsibilities you need to handle, the Holy Spirits will co to help you.”
A stranger’s voice rang out in the pirate council.
Lady Calamity instantly pulled out her flintlock and aid at the source of the voice and pulled the trigger; Magic Power exploded from the gun, forming an impenetrable wall of magic that shot towards her target.
But this wall was sliced apart and torn to shreds by two swords made of blood.
The expression on Queen i’s three-flower cat mask turned into a fierce ‘ (•᷄ὤ•᷅)’ as she glared at the pirates gathered in the eting room.
“Drake, you’d better introduce the two new friends you’ve brought.” The lizardman and leader of the Scaled Pirate Group, Komo, hissed as he glared at Queen i and Jiang Qiao with his tongue flicking.
There were many scales missing from the lizardman’s face, likely the results of an encounter with Lady Calamity.
The display of strength from Queen i put all the pirates on high alert.
“I am the envoy of the Holy Spirits, here to ensure you can get along with the Holy Spirits better before they arrive,” Jiang Qiao introduced himself very simply.
“Get along better? Do you really think those maniacs will listen to you?” Lady Calamity was very skeptical. She hadn’t been interacting with the Holy Spirits for long, but even during those few short hours, she realized that the Holy Spirits were all… a bunch of lunatics with unsound minds.
However, their combat abilities against the abyss and the Magic Thieves were beyond doubt.
“This one might not listen, but I’ll teach you a way to make the Holy Spirits obey.”
Jiang Qiao’s gaze swept over all the pirates present; this was the first ti he had introduced players to a map filled with a bunch of NPCs.
Previously, on Biland Island, players only faced so Magic Thieves, and those were hostile players; and now, the abyssal pirates, Divine Chosen Ones, and Breeders were all friendly NPCs.
With a massive update that included four main cities, Jiang Qiao had to equip each city with corresponding weapon rchants, potion rchants, city side quests, city main quests, and other functional NPCs.
For side quests, Jiang Qiao could rely on the dynamic task system of the Holy Spirits, which players were already accustod to.
As for functional NPCs, Jiang Qiao could create one and place them anywhere, but the best solution was to find individuals in the three cities willing to take on the roles of functional NPCs.
“Who’s the boss here?” Jiang Qiao asked directly.
The first person Jiang Qiao was looking for… was the NPC representative of the faction.
This felt like the Human King Varian in the World of Warcraft Alliance faction or the Queen of Blades in Starcraft; as soon as players thought of the faction, they thought of this NPC.
It was the most critical part of establishing a sense of belonging within a player’s faction.
When asked the question, all the pirates present turned their gaze toward Drake standing beside Jiang Qiao.
“I am the Grand Leader of the pirate alliance, but for the period of alliance with the Holy Spirits, I think it’s better to pass this position to you,” Drake said while removing a ring that represented his identity from his finger and tossing it to Lady Calamity.
“Drake, what are you scheming? Just giving the position of Grand Leader like that—aren’t you afraid I’ll behead you the next second?” Lady Calamity scrutinized the ring and asked.
“The title of Grand Leader is nothing more than an empty title to us, isn’t it? Who calls the shots in this city, that’s what really matters,” Drake declared as he thrust his curved blade decisively into the wooden table.
He managed to command respect because he was the strongest among all pirates.
“And the Holy Spirits?” Lady Calamity, unbothered, put on the ring with the skull emblem and looked towards Jiang Qiao, “Those maniacs… probably won’t follow my orders just because I’m the Grand Leader of the pirate alliance, will they?”
“Eh… I think they will.” Jiang Qiao sized up Lady Calamity, then nodded in approval and said confidently.
“Why?”
“Because you’re one of the rare ‘big sister’ types among the Holy Spirits.” Jiang Qiao stated seriously.
“?”
A big question mark appeared above the heads of Lady Calamity and the other pirates, while Drake clutching his belly, laughed heartily.
