Kain Locke

His Oga? What the hell is he talking about? My whole body tensed as I took a step back, instincts screaming at to put so distance between us.

"It’s only for tonight. Don’t get over yourself." He shrugged, walking past , narrowly missing my shoulder as he moved.

I watched as he went to his watch collection, picked out an expensive Rolex, and strapped it around his wrist like he was getting ready for sothing important. Then, without sparing a glance, he walked back to his wardrobe.

He effortlessly pulled out a bag, a white shopping bag precisely. Before I could even ask, he tossed it to . "Change into this." He ordered.

I caught it instinctually, frowning. "What is this?" I questioned switching glances between him and the bag.

"Clothes," he said, like it was obvious.

I opened the bag, pulling out a neatly folded outfit. My brows furrowed. "Are we going sowhere?"

"Yeah," he replied, completely unfazed. "So put it on. I had them tailor it to your size."

"Have you planned this before? Because how do you know I was going to be here?!"

"I was going to call you either way." He answered casually.

That threw off as I looked at him, trying to figure out what ga he was playing. "And don’t I get a say in this?"

"Yes," he answered smoothly.

I exhaled sharply, gripping the bag a little tighter. This guy was impossible. Although, I’d like to drag this but I don’t want this escalating into sothing that will be totally out of control, so I turned the bag upside down, throwing everything in it on the bed.

What first caught my attention was the white suites with gold buttons on them,

I slowly bend and pick it up, my fingers trailing at the thick yet light and firm fabric, looking so beautiful and gorgeously made.

The trousers were also made of the sa fabric, white and stunning, tailored even. This must’ve cost a fortune.

I fished out the pair of shoes from under the white undershirt, it was white as well but with a golden drawing pattern on it. Not too much, just in the front, it looks so beautiful that I couldn’t help trailing my hand on the smooth lines, still completely overwheld by its beauty until I heard the sounds of soone clearing their throat.

I hurriedly put it back, erasing all traces of amusent from my face just as quickly and pretended to be unfazed.

I straightened up, acting like I hadn’t just been admiring the outfit. "What’s the occasion?" I asked, keeping my voice neutral.

"You’ll find out soon enough." That was all he said

I scoffed, tossing the clothes back onto the bed. "Not shady at all."

"Just put it on. Or do you need to strip you and put them on you?" He offered with a smile.

I shot him a glare. "I’d rather climb the pole and strip in front of thousands."

He pushed off the wardrobe and took a slow step toward . "A pole, huh? That can be arranged." Muttered with a mischievous smile and started walking closer.

I stiffened, watching him close the distance, but just when I thought he was going to die sothing funny, he only grabbed sothing off the nightstand, a cufflink, from what I could see.

"Five minutes," he said, stepping back. "Unless you’d rather walk out there in what you’re wearing now?" His gaze dragged down my rumpled clothes,

I clenched my jaw. He always made things feel like a challenge, like saying no ant losing.

Annoyed, I grabbed the clothes and turned toward the bathroom. "This better not be so setup." I muttered mostly to myself because he’s not revealing any information and I’m obligated to follow him given that I’m not only here because he needs in this base, I also got paired with him as his teammate after losing the mission which got fucked up by snake beasts.

"Wouldn’t dream of it," he said, voice full of fake innocence.

Liar.

"Aren’t you supposed to be flying sothing like a flying car today?" I asked without looking at him, as my eyes were fixed on the yacht waiting for us.

"Tonight is for gentlen, and gentlen don’t fly a car, they drive it."

Doesn’t make any sense so I decided to keep quiet, who knows if this is going to be one of those? I an him dressing up to throw out a shark in the middle of the sea... or is this so kind of a mission on water where we have to exchange bullets.

I boarded the yacht regardless and took a seat, now silently praying whatever this is will not get killed.

Over an hour later, the yacht reached the destination on a beach where a luxurious blank car was already waiting. We didn’t even waste a mont before switching our rides..

The car moved through the busy streets, the low hum of the engine was the only sound between us. I stared out the window, my fingers drumming against my knee gently as I pondered on a few things I didn’t plan to speak about, but the words ca out anyway.

"I was on a mission with Mateo and two others a few days ago." I started,

Kael didn’t react, just kept driving like I hadn’t said anything.

"They didn’t make it." I continued, stopping to see his reaction.

Still nothing. I didn’t even know why I was saying this to him because I clearly rember seeing him after I saw the instructor. So he definitely must’ve heard a thing or two, if not more. And maybe that is why I was telling this to him to see his reaction and hear his opinion.

But he just keeps driving.

A flicker of irritation sparked in my chest. "You’re not gonna say anything?"

He finally glanced at , "What do you want to say?"

I scoffed, shaking my head. "I don’t know. Maybe sothing that doesn’t make it sound like their deaths don’t matter?" My voice ca out sharper than I intended.

He exhaled through his nose. "You knew the risks when you took the mission. This shouldn’t be any new to you."

I clenched my fists. "Yeah, but I also thought I was here to survive. Not to be sent on a mission that was never ant to succeed."

"I told you before." His voice was calm, "There’s a battle coming. Soon. And when it does, I need people I can trust in the middle of it."

I huffed a dry laugh, raising my head to look at him. "You trust ?" The idea was almost funny. But then I rembered Audrey had said sothing similar before once.

Kael didn’t even hesitate. "At least I’m confident you wouldn’t put a gun to my head and pull the trigger, even if you had the chance."

I stared at him, trying to figure out if he actually ant that or if this was just another ga he was playing but he didn’t look like he was so I asked, "Why?"

"Because I’m good-looking. You won’t find soone like , not even in the entertainnt industry these days." he answered with a smirk,

I stared at him, deadpan. "What the fuck."

"You? Handso? Duh. So you think I wouldn’t kill you because you believe you’re handso right?"

"That’s not all though."

I frowned. "What else?"

"You also like ." Added

I blinked. "You’ve really lost your mind."

He let out a low chuckle. "And you know what? I actually wouldn’t mind you putting a bullet in my head. At least you’d be the last person I see before my eyes close, in death."

Before I could even process that insane statent, he slamd his foot down on the accelerator and the car surged forward.

"Kael! Are you crazy?!" my heart nearly jumped out of my chest as I quickly grabbed onto the door, my stomach lurching.

"Crazy for you, only you, mochi."

Mochi?

"Mochi?!!" I scread. "What the hell did you just call ?!"

But he only laughed, speeding up even more.
