The group halted, glancing back at Max.

"Wouldn’t it be better to blend in with leaves?"

"Right." They all realized and nodded in agreent.

Following that, they went to cut leaves and stuck them into their clothes as a form of camouflage.

"The second group moves out one minute later. Third group, five minutes," John instructed as they began cutting a way forward.

Soon it was just Max and Zara; they both remained silent and alert as they waited for the five-minute hold.

But then, seemingly out of curiosity, Zara turned to him and spoke out.

"So... you’re Max?" she let out, awkwardly holding up her sniper.

Intrigued by this, Max similarly tilted his head to et her eyes.

"Yes... I’m Max," he responded, adding again, "Zara, right?"

"Hmm, yes." She nodded, and they both resud glancing at their wristwatches.

’2 minutes left,’ Max thought.

Unable to take the enduring silence, Zara spoke again.

"So... I noticed you’re always nonchalant and don’t seem to care much about anything."

Tilting to see her curious, questioning eyes, Max appeared doubtful.

"Oh. Is that so?"

"Yes. In fact, I rember how excited and happy I was when I beca an SS Ranked Student. John, Kieran, Sasha—everyone looked excited and happy too... But you, no one knew about you for years until you suddenly chose not to remain undercover. You made the A Ranks and their underlings win against us.

You got promoted two Ranks, beat up an Elite, held strong against Kieran, and as if that wasn’t enough... It took you a day and a single lesson to beco an official SS Elite.

Very impressive, yet you showed up like it was nothing. Neither excited but confronted Kieran. Oh my—seems like I talked too much."

While pouring out all her curiosity, Zara realized she had beco talkative and suddenly composed herself.

"Oh..." Max drew a thoughtful breath before continuing. "It’s nothing. I’ve never really thought of it in that way."

Zara shook her head and suddenly began to ponder. Suddenly, a look of enlightennt shone in her eyes.

"Humm... What do you think about Briar?"

’Huh?’

Befuddled, Max raised his brows slightly. Zara noticed this and quickly added.

"I an, she told us she’s made her interest in you clear. Have you, like, you know, given her an answer or like her? Sorry for not minding my business."

"Oh." Max revealed a thoughtful expression.

"Actually, about that. I told her I have a girlfriend... And my girlfriend doesn’t mind having another companion either."

"Huh?"

It was Zara’s turn to reveal a look of confusion. What did he an?

"You’re saying your girlfriend doesn’t mind you having another girlfriend?"

Wanting to clear what she heard, Zara asked curiously, a bit overwheld by his positive response. Suddenly, the look in her eyes turned strange and swept his whole appearance.

"Looking at you... You’re not only handso, but hot. Why would a girl in her right senses want to share you with anyone?" she questioned with a skeptical and suspicious look.

"Oh. Thank you."

Although her complint was unexpected, Max replied with a straight face and continued... "About that, I think she knows her limit."

Confused by his words, Zara frowned slightly but beca even more curious. Directly bringing her closer to whisper in his ear—

"Does she have a weird kink or a threeso fantasy?"

anwhile, in reality.

A warning alarm blared and repeated red warning signs flashed on the screens broadcasting a live feed of the virtual reality Amazon forest. The instructors all had a grave look as they watched the scientists go about typing on keyboards at a rapid pace.

"Dr. Mark, I think the processor is finding it difficult to broadcast so many live POVs!"

"Okay. Reduce to 4."

The ergency was quickly solved, leaving the screen, which broadcasted every team, to just five teams out of 17 teams. The screen only showed those about to confront.

Back in the Amazon forest.

Zara retreated, leaving Max stunned.

"No, she doesn’t have a weird kink. I think she realized her capability."

Piqued, Zara didn’t hold back.

"And what capability is that?"

(You’ve been temporarily disconnected from the broadcasting feature.)

Both Max and Zara heard the female AI voice.

’What a relief.’

"I don’t think it’s proper to say." Max glanced at his watch and then signaled it was five minutes.

They both cautiously stepped onto the path carved by Kieran using his machete. Zara positioned her sniper and zood in the scope. Seconds passed in silence before she then raised a thumbs up at Max.

Max turned on his comms.

"Third group. We’ve got eyes on you. Do you copy?"

Sasha’s voice ca from the other end.

"Copied."

Following that, Max turned it off. They had barely walked forward when Zara spoke again.

"Tell , as you can see they’ve turned off the live feed broadcast. What isn’t proper to say?"

’Girls. They know what it is but purposefully urge you to say it.’

Max turned to her.

"Sex?"

Commonly, this was a very sensitive topic that would make many flush with shyness. However, Max said it so casually that Zara was left speechless. A subtle flush instantly crept up her cheeks at the thought. But not willing to be outdone, she mustered up the courage and feigned nonchalance.

"I see. What aspect of it?"

"Humm... My dick? Or maybe I’m just too good."

"You must be kidding, what an asshole."

Zara wasn’t the shy type, but Max’s casual exposure made her flush with slight embarrassnt. So, she promptly ca to the conclusion that Max was purposefully pulling her leg just to flirt. Feeling a bit disgusted that she was played, she decided to pay him no heed any longer.

Holding his rifle as they walked together, Max scanned their surroundings then added.

"What? You think I’m kidding?"

Zara shook her head, rolling her eyes in disdain.

"Of course, why not?"

"Okay." Max didn’t rebut.

"Hehehe—he isn’t kidding, girl."

Just then, another voice interjected, almost causing Max and Zara to press the trigger.
