Modret left his previous location, and within a few minutes, he had arrived at the city.

He stared up at the city, now in ruins, with monsters crawling everywhere.

’What kind of monsters are these? Zombies?’ Modret frowned, taking a closer look at the growling creatures.

Saliva dripped from their mouths in a drool-like fashion, and their eyes were blank, containing no hint of warmth.

Most of them looked humanoid, though so of their limbs were twisted unnaturally, while others had their heads crushed or cut off.

Aside from the humanoid-looking monsters, there were others that resembled beasts, only their forms were equally grotesque.

Modret noticed sothing while taking a closer look at these strange creatures.

’It’s as though wherever they sense life, they imdiately attack... and what the hell is that?’

Modret watched in shock as a middle-aged man, who had just been killed by the zombie he was battling, began to twitch before standing up, radiating a dense aura of death as he turned and began attacking his teammates.

"These... things are too difficult to deal with! We need help from the City Lord!"

"Where the fuck did these things co from?"

Loud shouts thundered through the air as n and won scread their lungs out, trying to garner help from the City Lord and his forces.

It was a grueling sight.

Although Modret would have loved to lend a hand, he had more pressing matters.

He couldn’t let such a fate befall the innocent and pure Angel.

Besides, it seed whatever was happening in the end had sothing to do with her.

He increased his speed once more, and after a few minutes of enduring the grueso sight of the monsters, he finally reached the inn.

His heart sank the mont he saw it.

It had been crushed to pieces, and blood leaked out from its edges.

At the edge of the inn was a little girl, her eyes filled with tears as she clawed her way through the debris and wood, mumbling "sister" as she kept digging.

Modret’s gaze was briefly drawn to the surroundings where Axel stood, facing off against more than a hundred zombies of similar strength.

He flapped his wings, gently landing on the ground.

The mont he did, the little girl seed to sense his presence.

"Uncle... sister... she’s under," the little girl trembled, speaking between sobs.

Modret’s brows furrowed, and without hesitation, countless spider-like shadow threads danced from his body, latching onto the debris with incredible speed.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Explosions thundered across the surroundings as Modret calmly tossed the rocks aside.

Within minutes, the scene beneath the rubble was revealed to the duo.

Already expecting the grueso sight, Modret had at so point appeared behind the little girl, his hands tightly covering her eyes.

He stared at the unsightly scene. It was too grueso.

Bodies were strewn everywhere, the place filled with a mass of flesh and blood.

Even Modret wrinkled his nose at the devastating sight.

His eyes scanned the area, his gaze shifting through the ss, searching for any feminine body.

A puppet shadow string latched onto what was left of the counter and tossed it away.

Still, Modret saw nothing. His eyes swept the area again, but there was no sign of Celine.

’What if she wasn’t here when the attack started?’ Modret thought, though he knew it was a fragile hope to cling to.

He frowned, and at that mont felt a sharp bite on his hand.

The little girl had bitten him, trying to free herself from the hand he used to cover her nose so the stench wouldn’t reach her.

Modret let out a sigh, then carried the little girl along.

"You—no! I want to see my sister!" the little girl scread, struggling in Modret’s grasp.

’She’ll most likely attract more zombies to the area,’ Modret thought grimly.

"I’m sorry, little girl." He apologized softly, then his hand moved in a blur.

Before she could realize what was happening, she fell unconscious in his arms.

Modret searched around until he found the vehicle that had been under construction earlier.

He reached the location and placed the little girl inside after confirming it was safe enough.

Once he was done, he sealed the doors with his full strength, ensuring nothing could get in or out.

After that, he turned his gaze back to the surroundings.

Axel was still fighting the zombies in that part of the area. However, Modret could sense the thick bloodlust radiating from the youth as he fought relentlessly, ruthless even.

His attacks were sharper than ever, cleaving through the surrounding abominations with relentless abandon.

"Axel... go and find her. I will deal with everything here." Modret’s words halted Axel’s movents.

He paused mid-swing, not panting or showing a hint of exhaustion.

He looked as stiff as a machine designed for endless battles.

Bowing, his figure split into countless shadowy afterimages and vanished.

Modret saw him divide into three separate figures, each heading toward different parts of the city.

Then, Modret shifted his gaze back to the zombies.

’Illuminati, huh?’ Realizing this was their doing, Modret’s heart filled with anger.

That anger flared into rage, a black fire that blood and spread through the surroundings.

Swoosh!

A gust of wind blew as Modret transford, taking the form of the Elental Sovereign of Fire.

Null fire spread toward all the zombies rushing at him, but as soon as they ca close, they burned into nothingness.

Such was the terrifying nature of Modret’s SSS-grade Null Fire.

The onslaught continued, and for the first ti, the zombies seed to feel fear.

They no longer dared to rush toward Modret’s location.

Noticing this, Modret laughed wildly and charged at them.

Ti passed agonizingly slow, but after more than five minutes, Modret had finally dealt with the hundreds of zombies.

He panted heavily, struggling to steady himself.

Raising his eyes, he saw a massive creature looming over the city’s center.

He could tell that whatever was happening...

That was its source.
