Modret no longer paid attention to Axel, turning his gaze to Ruka.

He ordered him to co, and the man stepped forward, bowing the mont he reached him.

Modret nodded. "Ruka, I want you to... gather information on the Illuminati. You and your subordinates should gather as much information as you need from the other bandits in the surroundings."

Ruka nodded, adhering to the orders.

Turning around, he walked towards the beast and climbed onto it, whipping it as it rapidly retreated, racing through the woods.

In the eyes of the beast was a hint of horror as its pupils reflected Modret’s casual fra.

Modret watched as Ruka departed with all one hundred and twenty-nine of his subordinates.

After that, he casually turned to Axel, "You should be heading back to killing beasts, right? I have to go and report the abortion of my mission."

Axel nodded, and just as he was about to speak, his expression changed drastically, and so did Modret’s.

He turned his gaze in horror to look up at the sky above him, his face becoming unsightly.

Before he could react, he felt a pull on himself.

He tried to stabilize himself using all the abilities he could support while minimizing his use of mana; however, he realized it was all to no avail.

The pitch-black void was like a gaping mouth, continuously devouring Modret and Axel and putting a gravitational strain on them so they would have no choice but to enter.

Lightning crackled around Modret as he tried to retreat far away from the abyss void.

Unfortunately, it seed as though the mont the abyss appeared, he was rooted in the sa spot.

The sa scene played on Axel’s side, and even with his newfound strength, he couldn’t escape the shackles of the abyss.

Helpless, both n were pulled into the abyss, their bodies vanishing from sight.

Modret felt as though he had been swimming in an ocean of void for a very long ti before finally he felt a feeling of falling.

At the sa ti, a line of flowing words appeared in front of him.

[Welco to an S-grade Celestial Gate!]

’S-S-rank Celestial Gate???’ Modret was horrified.

No wonder he felt so helpless, and no matter how hard he tried to stop the abyss gate from swallowing him, he couldn’t.

It was because it was an S-rank Celestial Gate!

What was the concept of an S-rank Celestial Gate?

One had to know that the one that he and Axel had cleared previously was only just a D-rank gate; this was four tis higher!

Modret struggled to stabilize himself, pushing the thought to the back of his head.

Now wasn’t the ti to dwell on it; all he had to do was save himself and look for a way to get out of this.

Coming to this thought, he glanced around.

Everywhere around him was filled with darkness.

It engulfed him entirely, wrapping him like a cloth and faintly blanketing his thoughts.

Suddenly, lightning crackled in the surroundings, creating a burst of light in the darkness.

’Axel!’ Modret’s eyes lit up.

A burst of purple lightning imdiately crackled to life around his body, illuminating his body and giving him a clear view of his surroundings.

The mont he regained his vision, his danger senses scread at him.

Without any hesitation, black fire blood like a flower, spreading out from him.

A piercing screech resounded as a figure that seed like a bird was caught in the flas.

Illusions surfaced in its mind, and as it plumted, it was also consud by the flas.

Modret stretched his hand, sending a bolt of lightning through the bird’s head and blasting it apart.

Using the light, he finally glanced around.

Above was filled with endless darkness, and the sa scene played out below.

’What the hell is this S-rank Celestial Gate?’

Modret was terrified by the endless darkness.

He had a faint feeling of the horrors hiding behind the darkness...

Lightning crackled around him as he raced towards Axel’s direction.

The youth was also similarly racing towards him and they soon reached each other’s location.

The purple lightning glow on their bodies illuminated the surroundings, casting a bright purple light on their bodies.

Axel’s handso face ca into view. His eyes were filled with solemnness as he stared at Modret.

"Young master... an S-rank Celestial Gate..." Axel whispered with dread.

This was the first ti that Modret had seen Axel display such emotions.

Even when he sacrificed his life for Modret, he was calm about it all...

Modret managed to force a smile in this dreadful place and replied, "Don’t think about it much; just like always, we will survive this."

Axel felt relieved and nodded. Abruptly, his expression changed drastically.

Without any hesitation, his hand shot forward, and a bolt of lightning passed beside Modret’s right ear and collided with sothing.

Bang!

The celestial behind Modret exploded into fragnts, but it swiftly began regenerating.

Imdiately, black flas sprouted on the celestial, consuming it whole and turning it into ashes.

"We should be careful, young master..." Axel said, his wary gaze scanning the endless darkness as they kept falling.

"If we keep falling like this, it’s only a matter of ti before we either end up crushed to death should we collide with the ground, or we get ambushed to death."

Axel nodded, feeling that Modret’s words were reasonable.

They fell silent briefly, the silence stretching in the darkness.

Then, as though thinking of sothing, a thick bolt of lightning condensed on Axel’s hand.

He hurled it forward and watched as they drifted endlessly.

"What are you doing?" Modret raised a brow.

"We just need to keep on firing lightning endlessly until we finally encounter solid ground, then we can stabilize ourselves..." Axel offered a suggestion.

Modret furrowed his brows, not liking the suggestion. "Our mana will exhaust faster if that is the case."

Axel nodded. "Either way, it’s better than unexpected death..."

Modret felt a headache, but that was the only option available right now.

Turning to the other side, he released a similarly thick bolt of lightning.

It drifted endlessly but collided with sothing a few ters away, exploding into fragnts of lightning...

Modret’s gaze didn’t linger on it as he released another bolt of lightning...

Swoosh...

Countless sounds of lightning whistling through the air echoed into the endless void for a long ti.

Finally...

Imdiately after Axel released a bolt of lightning, it collided violently onto a solid surface, rocks flying around and crashing onto them.

Axel’s eyes lit up, "Young master!!!"

"I know..." Modret’s voice was solemn.

In his own direction, he too had encountered a wall...

On the wall were countless inscriptions and engravings similar to the previous celestial gate.

Modret’s gaze lingered on them briefly before he removed his attention from them, recalling what had happened the previous ti.

Suddenly, he saw a flickering light...

’A light in the midst of this darkness? What the hell?’

Modret was stunned. He squinted his eyes to stare at the figure and realized that a faint humanoid figure looked to be sitting on a rock, a flickering fla in front of him.

It seed as if the figure was thinking about sothing...

Modret was stunned. "This... Axel..."

He quickly called out, noticing that they were falling, and within a few more minutes, the man would be out of their sight.

The man seed to notice Modret and Axel the mont he called out to Axel...

"Wh—at? Hu—mans?" His voice was disjointed as though he couldn’t make coherent words. However, Modret, being just a few ters away from him and with many hearing enhancent abilities, was able to hear him clearly.
