The stunned silence on Platform Alpha stretched for an uncomfortably long mont.

Recruits stared at the finalized rankings, then at Daniel, then back at the rankings, as if trying to reconcile the unassuming figure leaning against the wall with the impossible numbers displayed on their Nexus Interfaces.

Level 5 Elite? Level 3 Alpha? Fifteen Level 2 creatures? Reaching Level 2 himself? How?

The Purge had decimated scores of recruits working in teams, yet this lone operator had apparently gone on a solo rampage against threats far exceeding the expected difficulty curve, and done so completely off the official grid until the final tally.

Whispers finally broke the silence, hushed and incredulous.

"Eight hundred ninety-five points... Is that even possible?"

"He must have found so glitch... or stumbled into a nest of injured elites?"

"Injured? Look at those levels! Even injured, a Level 5 Elite..."

"And Level 2 already... He must have awakened an insane Talent."

"Rember his Flux score? 45? Maybe that's it? Insane luck?"

"Luck doesn't kill fifteen Level 2s and an Elite..."

Seraphina Bellweather watched Daniel with narrowed, intensely curious eyes.

Her [Precognitive Glimpse] hadn't warned her about this. He was an anomaly, a variable that had completely blindsided the expected power dynamics.

Darius Holt frowned, his strategic mind trying to process the data, suspicion warring with grudging respect.

The recruits who had mocked Daniel earlier now avoided his gaze, looking pale.

Daniel, anwhile, was ntally reviewing the Ossuary haul and his fight with the Skeleton Wolf.

The numbers seed about right. The system must have retroactively calculated EXP and kill values based on the signatures it detected upon his return to the network.

He pushed off the wall, stretching slightly. The attention was inconvenient, but unavoidable now. He might as well roll with it.

Before the speculation could spiral further, another system-wide notification chid, drawing everyone's attention back to their interfaces.

[Phase One Conclusion trics Processed.]

[New System Activated: Vanguard Recognition Protocol.]

[Calculating Individual Recognition Scores based on Overall Performance, Threat Elimination, Resource Acquisition, Potential Assessnt (Talent Grade & Application), and Survival Efficiency.]

Another ranking? Murmurs started again. "Vanguard Recognition? What's that?" "More than just kill score?" "Potential Assessnt? Do they know his Talent grade?"

The interface shifted again, displaying a new leaderboard.

[Vanguard Recognition Rankings (Provisional - Platform Alpha Cohort):]

Daniel Vance - Recognition Score: 17,550 (SSS Grade Talent Detected - Classified, Elite Kills, Level Advantage, Class Certificate Acquired, Familiar Bond Established)

Seraphina Bellweather - Recognition Score: 3,820 (B Grade Talent Utilized Effectively, High Assist Rate, Team Leadership Potential)

Darius Holt - Recognition Score: 2,150 (C Grade Talent, Tactical Command Demonstrated, Survival Under Pressure)

Murong Xue - Recognition Score: 1,980 (S Grade Talent Detected - Classified, High Combat Prowess Displayed - Data integrated from parallel assessnt zone)

Chu Long - Recognition Score: 1,850 (S Grade Talent Detected - Classified, High Survival Rate, Supportive Role Potential - Data integrated from parallel assessnt zone)

...

If the kill score ranking had caused shock, this one induced vertigo.

Daniel's Recognition score utterly dwarfed everyone else's.

The system explicitly noted his SSS-Grade Talent (though classified), the Elite kills, his Level 2 status, and even the Class Certificate and Familiar Bond ,things no one else knew about.

The Academy's monitoring, it seed, was far more sophisticated and intrusive than they'd been led to believe, capable of assessing factors beyond simple combat data.

The ntion of Murong Xue and Chu Long, integrated from parallel zones, also caused a stir, confirming the rging of different assessnt groups and hinting at the existence of other S-grade talents among the survivors.

But even their high potential scores paled in comparison to Daniel's astronomical number.

"SSS-Grade..." soone breathed, the whisper reverberating across the platform.

The theoretical maximum, the stuff of legends whispered about by instructors. It was real.

And it belonged to the quiet guy who everyone thought was dead weight.

The fear in the surrounding eyes intensified palpably. He wasn't just strong; he was potentially ga-changingly powerful.

Daniel frowned slightly at the "Classified" status being breached, even implicitly.

So much for secrecy. KBut before he could dwell on it, a personal notification popped up, visible only to him.

[Congratulations, Aspirant Daniel Vance!]

[Due to achieving Rank 1 in the Vanguard Recognition Protocol for Platform Alpha Cohort - Phase One, you have been awarded the following:]

[- Priority Resource Allocation Token (Rank S): Grants priority access to Academy resources, facilities, and mission selections.]

[- Vanguard Comndation Points: 1000 (Usable in Academy Exchange for high-tier items/services.)]

[- Free Attribute Points: 9 (Allocatable to Core Attributes)]

[- Direct ntorship Opportunity: Option to request ntorship from a designated High-Rank Vanguard (A-Grade or higher). Further details pending.]

No wonder the system calculated Recognition differently.

The rewards were significantly better than just kill score placent. Priority access, comndation points (likely very valuable), a hefty chunk of free attribute points, and even potential ntorship from a top-tier Vanguard.

The Academy clearly invested heavily in those it deed to have the highest potential.

He imdiately decided where the 9 attribute points would go. Balancing was fine, but overwhelming Strength combined with his kinetic skills seed like the most direct path to dominance right now.

[Allocate 9 Attribute Points to Strength.]

[Strength: 88.1 -> 97.1]

He felt the power surge through him, a dense solidity settling into his muscles.

He was nearing 100 Strength even before accounting for skill bonuses or future assimilation gains. The thought made him grin internally.

Just as the buzz about the Recognition scores reached fever pitch, a powerful presence made itself known.

A shimring portal, larger and more ornate than the recruit transport portals, opened near the center of the platform.

Stepping out with an air of crisp authority was Instructor Elara Rostova.

Her immaculate uniform seed untouched by the chaos of the Purge, her expression stern but with a flicker of sothing else, perhaps surprise or intense interest, as her gaze swept over the survivors, lingering for a fraction of a second longer on Daniel.

"Aspirants!"

Her amplified voice cut through the chatter instantly, demanding attention.

"Silence!

Phase One is concluded. Initial reports indicate... significant deviations from projected outcos.

" Her eyes briefly t Daniel's again.

"Congratulations to those who survived. You have faced the crucible and proven your basic potential."

She gestured around the platform.

"This is Platform Alpha, your designated hub for rest, recuperation, and preparation before undertaking Phase Two of your assessnt, which will comnce in precisely twenty-four standard hours."

She paused, her gaze hardening.

"Do not mistake this for a vacation. The threats you faced were rely introductory. The Astral Verge is infinitely more dangerous than you can comprehend. Use this ti wisely. Rest, repair your gear, analyze your failures, and form effective teams. Teamwork, strategy, and adaptation are paramount from this point forward. Relying solely on individual talent,"

She shot another quick look towards Daniel, "is a recipe for a short, brutal career."

Her words, clearly aid, hung in the air.

Daniel t her gaze evenly. He understood the warning, but his path was inherently different.

His Talent demanded a degree of solo operation, of seizing opportunities others couldn't. Teamwork had its place, but [Soul Assimilation] was a solitary engine of growth.

Rostova continued, outlining the facilities available on the platform, basic repair stations, dical bays, training simulators, and an exchange post where Comndation Points could potentially be used.

"Utilize these resources. Sharpen your skills. You will need every advantage for what cos next. Dismissed!"

With that, she turned crisply and marched towards one of the platform's central structures, leaving the shell-shocked recruits to process the whirlwind of events, the brutal Purge, the shocking rankings, the revelation of an SSS-Talent, and the daunting prospect of Phase Two.

Daniel watched her go, then felt a tiny nudge from within his pouch.

Nyx was awake and likely hungry. He sighed.

First things first: find so rations suitable for a shadow wolf pup with latent Soulfire. The life of an SSS-ranked Hunter was already proving complicated.
