The fallout from killing most of the Whitemoon and the Guard commander of Sonea, Dorian, was a bit heavy. But Percy knew just how to handle it.
If he was right, the Baron of Sonea was involved with the Whitemoon, maybe not directly, but he overlooked so of their activities. And though the Whitemoon wasn't explicitly working on Sion Eurides, everyone knew he used them a lot.
No one had the balls or evidence to say it to the forr Viscount's face, but it was true. And Hecate already warned all of her retainers that as Viscount of Detria, she wouldn't forgive conspiring with House Eurides.
With enough threats and the fact that he and Thalos tore through the Baron's guard, Percy managed to bring both parties to an agreent. It took a whole night, but Percy and Thalos were finally able to find a bed and go to sleep.
He woke up to the loud sound of soone knocking on his door. After a long battle with his drowsy body, Percy pulled himself from the bed and walked over to the door.
"Who is it?" Percy asked, summoning his Spellbolt from storage and pointing it at the door.
"It-it's , Flynn. Flynn Ramlos, we t at—"
Percy pulled the door open for the red-headed girl and walked back towards his bed. She watched him drop the Spellbolt on the floor and flop back on the bed.
"Were you going to shoot if I was soone else?" she asked.
"Are you soone else?"
"Um… no?"
"Then I wouldn't shoot you," he murmured, eyes closed. "How did you find us? And why are you here?"
Flynn turned slightly pale, suddenly finding the floor very interesting.
"I just wanted to make sure you—and Thalos too—didn't need any help. We heard you burnt an opium field. I also dislike… that sort of thing. But that's a criminal offense."
"Not when your last na is Amphene. Besides, we were dealing with so Whitemoon freaks we found in the city."
"I knew it!" Flynn exclaid, her voice piercing his tired skull. "I knew you guys wouldn't send Barty back to just get so 'Fruits'. Then travel with that Pethros asshole—"
"Language," he said absentmindedly.
"Why didn't you tell us anything?" she asked, looking rather angry. "We can help, you know. Even if it's not fighting."
Percy's long silence made her uncomfortable. What she didn't know was that he was just trying to force himself awake.
"I don't know what to tell you, Flynn. It's our problem, and we decided we didn't want to endanger you guys more after what happened in the forest."
"That doesn't an you couldn't give us a heads up," Flynn pointed out. "Instead of just like… you know, not saying anything."
She leaned against the wall and let out a heavy sigh.
"I'm sorry. I'm being heavy. It must be weird or like hard to live the way you do. Always watching your back and being careful."
"It gets tedious," Percy said, rising to sit down and smile tiredly. "But it can be fun too. Wanna hear about how Thalos and I destroyed those guys."
She let a bright smile take over and sat beside him as he launched into a crazy story. The hours passed, and he wondered in the back of his mind if Thalos was still sleeping.
The swordsman definitely deserved a lazy day after everything that happened yesterday. He needed one too, honestly, but talking felt more relaxing than just lying around.
"That's the second ti soone has tried killing you by choking you," Flynn observed. "It's probably the first sign they are going to lose."
He thought about it for a mont and realized that was true. It was a good way to make sure soone died slowly and painfully, especially if you hated that person.
"Ehhh, people and vengeful spirits aren't that different."
"Using the smoke from the field burning was pretty smart," she said. "Fighting in the city would have been dangerous."
"Yeah, I wanted to make sure everyone wouldn't hate when we started a fight that destroyed people's houses. I'm supposed to get my first sword here after all."
Flynn sat up like the bed shocked her, eyes wide with disbelief.
"No way. That's… ughhhh, I'm so jealous, and happy for you. I'm also happy, Percy."
"It's okay, kid," Percy said, petting her on the back. "Let all that jealousy out. I'm used to being an object of envy."
"I've been begging my dad to at least get a small axe, but he keeps saying it's too dangerous. Even Mom says it's okay, but he doesn't care."
Percy tried to find it in himself to believe Ura, Flynn's mother, wasn't crazy, but she challenged his expectations every ti. You know sothing is wrong when George is the voice of reason in the room.
Flynn turned fully towards him, amber eyes bright with excitent.
"Will you let hold it when they make it for you? Just once."
"Nope," he said casually. "Kids shouldn't be playing with sharp objects."
"You're a kid!"
"Are we the sa?"
Flynn sighed, putting her head down. "No."
Percy slapped her on the back and got up, stretching his back.
"Chin up, kid, I was joking. I'll let you hold the sword a couple tis. I want to go see if it's done anyway. Thalos commissioned it a couple weeks ago."
Flynn shot to her feet, grinning.
"Really! Wait, how did he commission it if you were in Dema?"
"ssenger bird," he said, then he started herding her out of the room. "Wait for downstairs. I'll get ready and et you there."
He was also quite excited to get the sword, so he got ready quickly. Then he took one last peek at his quests.
━━━━━━━━━ ✦ Quests ✦ ━━━━━━━━━
– Daily Quest : [ Cast spells (0/10) ]
– Optional Quests : [ two available ]
✧──────────────────────────────────────────────✧
He would complete the daily quest this even, and practice using [Fireshot] at the sa ti.
As for optional quests, he still had Aether's quest to complete the Spellcore's second version, but he still felt he needed a bit more experintation and insight for that.
Then he had to find Gaia's forgotten temple for Nyx. That wasn't much of a problem though. He would be there in a couple of days.
He still hadn't told Thalos how he knew where the temple was. But if Hugo, the forr spy he raced in Carn, ca back with anything useful, he knew it wouldn't be hard to get Thalos to co along.
First, let's get the new sword.
