Boom! Boom!
Jack the Ripper gripped tightly at the icy hand choking his neck.
Alice dragged him far away, smashing through dozens of noble residences.
Then Jack the Ripper conjured a mirror behind him, pulling both of them inside.
The next mont, they were ejected into a vast forest, the spawning ground of monsters.
"Bla...zing Deto...nation." Jack the Ripper struggled to cast his skill, but eventually succeeded, a flashing red light glowing from his chest.
Seeing this, Alice imdiately hurled him into a tree.
Boom!
A massive fiery explosion erupted, the trees around Jack the Ripper instantly turning to ash.
Jack swept away the drifting embers with his left hand, his right still clutching his throat as he coughed.
"My my, Alice... don’t you feel pity for those nobles who just lost their hos?" Jack the Ripper tilted his head, brushing the dust off his clothes.
"Shut your mouth!" Alice snapped, glaring daggers at him.
"My... by the way, why did you hold back just now? You didn’t choke as hard as you did choked the bandits two years ago." Jack the Ripper smiled slyly at her.
Seeing this, Alice gripped her icy Gungnir tightly and lunged at him.
Slash!
Jack the Ripper sidestepped with ease.
"You’ve gotten slower, Alice." He mocked, grinning after dodging her strike.
"Shut it!" Alice attacked again.
Jack dodged by slipping into a mirror, then reappeared behind her.
"Wouldn’t it be better if we talked first, Alice, instead of fighting like this?" he suggested.
Alice, encased in her ice armor, turned toward him slowly.
"Don’t attack yet." Jack the Ripper raised both hands toward her.
"Why should I talk to a criminal?" Alice replied coldly.
"Criminal...?" Jack shrugged, then continued. "From my perspective now, I see myself as a hero."
"You killed people!" Alice shouted back.
"I killed people who deserved it." Jack retorted.
Alice let out a bitter chuckle. "Why did you beco like this?" she asked softly.
"Beco what exactly?" Jack countered, his smile widening.
"Killing people like this. You know punishing criminals isn’t your right. What’s your goal? Why are you doing all this?"
Jack tapped his temple with a finger.
"First of all, I’ve never changed. I’m still , the sa as you knew a year ago. Second, I don’t want criminals in this kingdom multiplying. Rather than see them imprisoned, only to be released after a few years and repeat the sa cris... it’s better if I deal with them myself."
Alice frowned. "No. You changed, ever since you got that artifact."
Jack made a small "ohh" sound. He then summoned white Shears speckled with black stains.
"This artifact?" he asked, twirling it on his finger.
"Do you rember what you did right after you first laid your hands on that thing...?"
Jack closed his eyes, looking like soone lost deep in thought, his expression stiffening.
"Hmmm..."
"Enough of your stupid act."
"Well... I truly don’t rember what happened back then. Would you be so kind as to remind ?"
Alice’s grip on her Gungnir tightened, her golden eyes burning with hatred, staring sharply at him.
"You stabbed ..." Alice stepped closer. "You stabbed in the back, just like you stabbed that student Annie earlier!"
Alice charged forward, raising her Gungnir high.
Slash!
Jack lifted his Shears to block her strike.
"Frozen Shackles!" Alice shouted.
Instantly, bitter cold ice surged beneath Jack the Ripper’s feet.
It spread rapidly, engulfing half of his body in re fractions of a second.
"Scorching Vitality." Jack whispered with a smile.
His body suddenly blazed with heat, lting the ice that bound him.
Then, with a swift motion, he kicked toward Alice’s stomach.
Alice conjured a small, precise ice wall to block the kick.
She countered by launching her own kick at his midsection.
Bam!
Jack couldn’t dodge in ti and was hurled ten ters to the left.
Boom!
A massive boulder shattered when his body crashed into it.
Alice wasted no ti, raising her hand again, summoning hundreds of razor-sharp icicles around her, ready to unleash them.
"Hellflare Arrow."
A white flaming arrow shot out from Jack’s direction. Alice quickly erected a massive ice wall.
Boom!
The wall blocked the attack, though it lted quickly. Looking to the boulder, she saw Jack was no longer there.
Alice spun around, wary of a sudden ambush.
But all she saw was Jack stepping out of a mirror, strolling casually.
He sighed. "Haaa... why is it that I can never land even a single clean hit on you?"
Alice shattered her ice wall, no longer defending.
Jack didn’t attack.
Hearing his words, Alice couldn’t hold back, she burst into laughter.
"Ha... ha... hahaha."
Jack smiled. "Funny, isn’t it? I’ve never been able to beat you."
Alice clutched her stomach, laughing not out of nostalgia for their past, but because what he said was the dumbest thing she’d ever heard from his mouth.
"Of course..." Alice regained her composure and stared at him.
"You know very well that fla power of yours..." She paused, locking eyes with his crimson ones.
"...was originally mine."
Jack closed his eyes and chuckled.
"Ah... haha! You’re right. I’d forgotten that I got part of your skill when I stabbed you in the back that day."
He then opened his eyes, eting Alice’s golden gaze.
"Well then, would you be so kind as to give so tips and tricks on how to better use your magnificent fla skill?" Jack asked with a friendly smile.
