Kaitos was a very important family in the past; they were part of the five main duchies of Avalon.
Their bloodline specialized in necromancy, an art that, while frowned upon, isn’t prohibited as long as certain rules are followed.
However, the Kaitos family lost much of their land and power after a civil war. In essence, their mistake was choosing the losing side, supporting Prince Charles Regulus instead of the supposedly legitimate heir.
The only reason the family wasn’t completely annihilated is that not everyone in that house supported the prince. The house was divided into two factions, and thanks to the contribution of the faction that supported the princess, the punishnt was lighter.
Still, the Kaitos family was from then on branded as traitors. Their rank dropped to that of count, and much of their land was seized.
Furthermore, it was the county’s obligation to send an heir to administer territories near dangerous abysses, with the mission of conquering them so another house could acquire the area easily.
In the novel, it was shown as an injustice and driving force for so mbers of that house to do anything to recover their forr glory, while others only lanted their fate.
In turn, the turning point ca with Baltazar Kaitos, the mad necromancer.
While he was a secondary villain, created to give developnt to one of the secondary characters from that sa house, he was very well crafted and also very powerful.
But what really worried Lloyd was that Baltazar nearly completely annihilated all the mbers of his family, so if he was in the sa world as the novel, he’d have to face one of the most dangerous secondary bosses in the novel.
Not being the only problem, since Baltazar also had formidable allies.
’If I’m right, it ans I’m in danger. I guess that’s another reason why I need to get stronger.’
Lloyd sighed, he had to get in shape soon to be able to start making real progress, and as if his mind had been read, a notification arrived.

The boy sighed. The Chaos Record was good motivation, though its punishnts were sowhat extre. Still, a week should be enough to walk again, or at least that’s what the boy hoped.

Days passed, and Lloyd felt better and better. He was still quite sick, but at least his physical condition was improving considerably.
The boy didn’t wait for seven days to pass; as soon as he received the mission, he started doing basic exercises, as if he were in rehabilitation.
It wasn’t just about eating well, he also had to get his body used to walking and moving.
Another important point was the great improvent in his nutrition; he could now eat solid food without it needing to be in a soup. He could also eat by himself.
Lloyd theorized that the gourt stomach was doing its job well, since each al gave him enough energy for the rest of the day.
The mission was completed before the deadline; when Lloyd finally managed to leave his room, upon doing so, he received the reward.
Lloyd was surprised not to receive the second part of the mission, but perhaps it would co at another ti, so he didn’t mind.
It was then, while thinking about what to spend his points on, that a voice at the end of the hallway was heard.
"Young master! How glad I am to see you again!" said that voice, it seed to co from soone distressed. "You don’t know how sorry I am, leaving you alone and unprotected for so long; I truly apologize for my incredible inefficiency."
The one speaking was an older man, elegantly dressed. He wore a black suit, reminiscent of a butler’s uniform.
Lloyd didn’t take long to recognize who it was: it was the mansion’s butler, Sebastian Morfeus, the closest thing to a father figure he’d had.
"I’m enormously sorry for the events that occurred in my absence!" the butler proclaid while practically running toward the boy and then prostrating himself before him, with knees bent and head on the floor. "I know my apologies won’t lessen the harm my incompetence caused, but I’m glad the young master is enjoying better health now."
Lloyd almost laughed at that comnt, not only because of how exaggerated Sebastian’s gestures were, but also because of the ntion of his "improved health"; it was funny that being able to walk was considered an improvent.
"Oh! I mustn’t keep you waiting any longer, young master, every second counts," the man rose with a quick movent; Lloyd was surprised by the agility he had for his age. "Here you are."
The butler took from his pocket a small black wooden box. However, he didn’t hand it to Lloyd, but snapped his fingers.
In the blink of an eye, one of the maids had taken out the contents of the box: it was a black ring, with a purple gem embedded in it.
Without waiting much, the maid knelt and delicately took Lloyd’s hand to put the ring on his finger. If it weren’t for his health condition, Lloyd would’ve blushed.
The maid positioned herself right behind Sebastian, to his left, while he continued the conversation.
"I couldn’t find the sa model you lost; however, this artifact is of higher quality. It generates a much more stable Touki; moreover, it’s capable of revitalizing your health without requiring that... unpleasant sacred energy," Sebastian expressed himself with fluidity and professionalism; his bearing was equally impeccable. "I’ve been inford of what happened in my absence, but don’t worry, now that I’m back I’ll take care of protecting you, and I swear I’ll discover the culprit."
Hearing those words, Lloyd’s suspicions about the river incident grew stronger. Apparently, he wasn’t the only one who suspected it was intentional; soone had tried to assassinate him.
