Even stubborn Rosa knew she has been caught in a tight spot. She began sweating for real this ti, and her mind darted back and forth, trying to co up with a counter thought to mask the truth from Venn’s probing. What she feared was finally coming to reality. Sooner or later, Venn will discover that there were other students alongside the teachers. To her, the teachers can go choke on space debris, she was only worried for Leo because she knew if Venn discovered Leo in her thoughts and saw that he indeed fought those cha-n, he will only be used as a scapegoat because of his family status.
"Focus, Rosa. Focus," she told herself. "You must not let him read your mind again."
"Are you deaf now, Rosalie Morningbolt? You can’t deny your involvent any longer, Rosa. Just ntion the na of the teachers and let’s get done with it... Or do you want to dig into hour mind again? I can make you do that, Rosa. I really can."
Rosa kept her eyes shut, thinking of many thoughts aside the scene of the fight. Her concentration was wavering but she kept fighting still.
"You have to talk to , Rosa. Talk to or I dig out your deepest mind secrets... Don’t force , Rosa."
Rosa kept whispering "no, no...no," while thinking those counter thoughts. She thought about her childhood, she thought about her family, she thought about planet Luxus, she thought about her first combat, she thought of many things that happened in her life before she got into the Academy.
"I see what you’re doing, Rosa. I really see... I see that your thoughts are changing. I see that you’re trying to hide the scene of that night. I see all these," Venn laughed. "But do you know what I can do? I can bring up that night again in your mory just by talking about it, see?"
"You won’t get nothing from ," Rosa blurted out. She was frustrated of the mind torture.
"Of course, I will, Rosa. I will get every bit of information from you if I just tell you to rember the second year school building. Can you rember that night, Rosa? Rember now."
"No, I can’t," Rosa said, fighting with her thoughts.
"Yes you can, Rosa. I want you to travel back to that night when if you don’t want to. I want you to feel the chill air blowing against your skin as you sit at the top of the building..."
Venn started enforcing the obvious scenes into Rosa’s mind again so that he can find an opening till he got to the point where Rosa was with the teachers and possibly other students.
"No, I can’t rember," Rosa replied stubbornly but her thoughts wasn’t saying the sa thing. A clear scene had slipped into her thought and Venn caught an idea of it. It was the scene where Rosa saw the shadows of Omal and Greg dragging Lam into the building.
"Oh, I see sothing now. Threw dark figures. Who are they, Rosa? Tell ."
"I don’t know them," she replied heatedly.
"Oh yes, you know them. You followed them, Rosa. I know you did. Rember how you ran into the beast weapon building and stole those weapons? Yes, I see two swords..."
"That’s a lie!" Rosa shouted.
"Good job, Rosa. The pictures in your mind are getting clearer. You followed them into the building... You climbed a flight of stairs... Oh, yes you got lost in the building... Wow, you returned outside... Then you went back into the building... Good job Rosa. Keep the pictures clearer."
"Stop now!" Rosa was infuriated. "Stop whatever joke doing."
"No, I won’t," Venn said. "You got back in with the two swords... The first storey... The second... That’s right... You branched by a corridor... Into another long corridor... You can hear the battle sounds now... You are getting closer, Rosa... Oh you’re finally there... Just around the corner... Wow, I can see a cha-man flash by... You’re really helping with those clear mories..."
"No, I won’t allow you."
Rosa has lost total control of her thoughts now. She couldn’t keep it together again.
Venn continued his unnecessary narration...
"Keep going closer, Rosa. You’re now by the corner... Yes, you stopped... Get closer Rosa... Yes, you finally jumped into the fight scene, good girl... And now we just wait and see who the fighters are..."
Rosa knew that if she didn’t do anything right now, Venn will see everybody in the hallway through her mind. She didn’t care about the others, but for Leo. Leo would probably be the main person at the receiving end of all these. "I must avoid that," Rosa thought.
With a powerful inward drive, Rosa kept her composure together and concentrated hard on a thought she couldn’t stop thinking of... A thought that had kept her up most nights... A thought that has traumatized her for a while now.
She thought of the scene of her mother dying before her eyes.
Suddenly, Venn felt an imdiate switch in Rosa’s thought. Her forr general feelings were fear and anxiety, but now it’s changed to a lancholic feeling. Her aura suddenly beca moody. Venn was sohow impressed that she could switch so drastically like that.
"What are you doing, dear Rosa? Do you think changing your thoughts like that can stop ? You know nothing. You have to show who those people are. I have to see them, Rosa! I have to!"
Rosa didn’t respond but continued concentrating on her mother’s dying scene. Tears began dropping down her eyes as she kept her eyes shut.
"No, Rosa. You’re really impressive. But I am the world’s best investigator for a reason, Rosa. I really am!"
Venn probed harder and harder into Rosa’s mind, trying to get sothing .. The very last thing he wanted was to see the faces of those in the hallway fighting the cha-n.
"Rosa don’t make do this. Open your mind to that night now, Rosa... I won’t warn you again, Rosa. Rosa, Rosa, Rosa... I’m about to break a rule for this Rosa. Don’t make do this Rosa. Please don’t."
Venn began getting too excited. He was on the brink of the final discovery but this little girl was giving him a tougher ti then he expected.
Later, his excitent turned to anger when he couldn’t penetrate Rosa’s mind again.
With a blast of fury, he shouted, "see destroy your walls of thoughts. See dig a tunnel in your mind...Feel my Rage Mode, Rosa!!!"
Suddenly, Venn’s eyes lit up in an orange glow as he scread.
His abilities imdiately increased multiple tis his forr ability. His thoughts-digging was more sharp and he started searching through Rosa’s mind imdiately.
Rushes of feelings, emotions, thoughts, filled his mind as he scaled through Rosa’s mind. He was brushing through the entire thoughts of Rosa’s life. "Where is it, Where is it?" he said whole drooling absentmindedly.
"Very close, very close. I can feel it. Very close... Any mont... Any mont..."
He was getting close to the event of that night in Rosa’s mind. "One more thought... One more... Now... Now..."
The scene of the corridor flashed in Venn’s mind and he was about to look into the fight scene again to see the fighters when the door burst open.
Amy rushed in with two other strangers. She got close to Venn and gave him a swift punch to the side of the head. "I warned you," Amy said aggressively.
Venn collapsed.
