"A reminder," the High Priest said, still reciting. "That even your mind can be rewritten. All things evolve, Doctor. Even belief."

The vacuum Emperor tilted his head, scrutinizing Grimhart maliciously.

The kinetic redirection Emperor raised a hand, not to strike, but to signal restraint.

One of the High Priests walked forward and addressed the group. "The Lord God wants him alive. His research serves the next phase, but if he becos a liability..." He didn’t finish the sentence. He didn’t need to.

Grimhart’s jaw clenched, but he remained silent.

The vacuum Emperor released the corridor’s pressure, allowing air to return.

For the first ti in what felt like hours, the doctor inhaled deeply, shakier than before.

Monts later, two High Priests stepped forward and restrained him with hardened cuffs laced with neural suppressants.

The duffel bag was sealed in a reinforced containnt case. All data extracted by Arkan was already en route to the Lord God’s personal archive.

However, just as they were about to leave, they heard an explosion suddenly resound throughout the Noctyra Corporation.

Since all believers of the Church of Evolution were part of the Hive Mind, the High Priests who were inside and didn’t see the source of the explosion started inquiring about it to the High Priests outside.

...

Outside the Noctyra Corporation, six figures suddenly appeared. Unlike the High Priests of the Church of Evolution, they weren’t wearing similar attire.

Compared to the High Priests who wore their religious high priest uniforms, those six figures were wearing different clothing with even different styles.

One of them wore a ninja outfit, and the other was wearing a marine uniform. On the other hand, there were even those who wore mage outfits and a knight outfit.

As the leader of this team, the figure wearing knight armor, Fire Knight, pointed his sword toward the building where Dr. Elias Grimhart was.

He commanded, "Raid that building and capture the target. We need to complete our mission before the Main God can penalize us."

Hearing Fire Knight ntion the Main God, the backs of the rest of the mbers straightened and their faces beca solemn.

A hint of fear flashed in their eyes as they didn’t want to be punished by the Main God for failing to complete their mission.

As Challengers, they were tasked to complete missions issued by the Main God Space or else they would die.

They were lucky that the mission they got wasn’t that difficult since they were only required to capture Dr. Elias Grimhart. On the other hand, another challenger team who was also sent into this mission world like them had a much more difficult task which was to kill the protagonist.

The challenger wearing a ninja outfit, Ninja Guy, snickered with a hint of schadenfreude, "At least we have it easy. Our mission target isn’t even that powerful and is rely the villain of this world."

When they heard Ninja Guy’s words, they could tell that Ninja Guy had beco complacent, likely due to always taking easy missions.

Unlike Ninja Guy, they had chosen much more difficult missions before and had barely survived so they didn’t share the sa idea as him. If not for Ninja Guy’s relatively unique skill set, they wouldn’t have ford a team with him.

When they were about to rebuke Ninja Guy, the challenger wearing a marine uniform, I Want To Be Marine King, imdiately sensed danger so he imdiately reminded his team.

Unlike Ninja Guy, the rest of them were veterans so even without I Want To Be Marine King’s signal, they all spread out and fled from their current location, leaving Ninja Guy behind.

A split second later, several cultists wearing uniford attires had teleported and surrounded their previous location.

As soon as they arrived, they imdiately released an attack that bombarded Ninja Guy who was left behind.

When those attacks landed on Ninja Guy, the High Priests noticed that he suddenly turned into a puff of white smoke, leaving behind a wooden log.

Knowing they’d been tricked, the High Priests didn’t care much and split up into several groups to pursue the intruders.

Although they themselves were intruders, that was before they managed to take over Noctyra Corporation. Now that they completely invaded it and made the Noctyra Corporation a territory of the Church of Evolution, those six challengers with different attires were now the invaders.

When those six challengers split up, they all headed to the building where Dr. Elias Grimhart was detained.

The High Priests communicated with each other via the Hive Mind so they concluded that those six challengers were likely after the sa target as them.

"Unforgivable! They dare set their eyes upon the Lord God’s target!"

A High Priest imdiately sacrificed both of his eyes to activate a special superpower.

When both of his eyes gazed at one of the intruders, that intruder wearing a mage outfit suddenly turned into stone but at the cost of the High Priest losing his sight.

Unbothered by the loss of his sight, the High Priest gouged out both of his eyes and used an organ recovery superpower to regenerate a new pair of eyes.

Even when his previously empty eye sockets had oozed out crimson blood, the petrification eye High Priest didn’t even flinch and regenerated a new pair of eyes as if he was just changing light bulbs.

With a new pair of eyes, that High Priest glared at another challenger wearing a similar mage outfit, and like the previous one, he turned to stone without resistance.

The High Priest had known that the other challengers were much more difficult to deal with so he picked those who were more easier to kill.

Because of that, in just three seconds since they ambushed the six challengers, two were already turned to stone, leaving only four.

When those two challengers beca stone statues, the rest of the challengers ran even faster and took out their props such as a prop that could increase speed, etc.

Even when their life were in danger, they still didn’t stop targeting Dr. Elias Grimhart. As he was the target of their mission, they knew that even if they escaped here, they would die if they failed their mission.

Between escaping from here which was a dead end as it would inevitably get them killed, the four challengers remaining gritted their teeth and gambled with their lives to kidnap Dr. Elias Grimhart to complete the mission.

The High Priests outside pursued the four challengers who were heading to Noctyra Corporation’s building where Grimhart was cuffed.

One High Priest with the superpower of size control and storage had stopped at the two challenger stone statues, shrunk them, and then stored them in his storage.

As for why he didn’t kill them, they had already known that their Lord God would prefer to keep these challengers alive to extract information from them.

Although their Lord God had inford them not to hold much hope since those challengers were not only tight-lipped but also had a contract that prevented them from leaking information about their affiliation, the High Priests still decided it was better to incapacitate the challengers and extract information from them.

After all, it didn’t hurt to try, and if they did it well, they would gain the attention and favor of their Lord God. And if they failed, it didn’t matter since their Lord God didn’t hold much hope in obtaining information from those challengers.

After the High Priest had shrunk and stored those two stone statues away, he followed the rest of the High Priests.

’Damn it! These heretics are a bunch of slippery loaches. Especially that ninja, he keeps turning into a log whenever our attacks hit him.’

’Focus on attacking the marine, knight, and archer instead. Those who have a restrain-type and perception-type superpowers will pursue that ninja.’

’Noted.’

Communicating amongst each other via the Hive Mind, the High Priests split into four groups, each attacking a challenger.

Since the High Priests greatly outnumbered the Main God Space’s challengers, those four challengers were left with no choice but to grit their teeth and use up all their several mission rewards worth of life-saving props that they had saved up before.

"Why are there these damn cultists? Isn’t this a zombie apocalypse world? The intel only ntioned that this world has evolvers and zombies but the greatest faction should be the protagonist’s human survival base and Noctyra Corporation."

Hearing Fire Knight’s complaints, the challenger in an archer outfit, Die When Killed, complained alongside him, "The intel sold by those challengers is very unreliable. I had assud this would be an easy mission and even mocked the other challenger team for taking a more difficult mission."

I Want To Be Marine King comnted, "We have no ti to chat, those cultists seem to be targeting Dr. Grimhart and even already subdued him. We can’t let them take him to their base or else we wouldn’t be able to snatch him back again."

Knowing how powerful those cultists were, all these challengers nodded.
