’It seems that even without my assistance, Monster Lord Skarnax wouldn’t be able to run rampant as either the Edenbridge Vice Principal could deal with it, or Elyndra and her team would if they had arrived earlier.’
’Moreover, at worst, it’s not like the school staff at S-rank lacked desperate asures, but it will inevitably lead to more casualties. My intervention not only allowed Edenbridge City to eliminate Monster Lord Skarnax, but also counterattack the otherworld invasion.’
’It did prove, however, that Monster Lords and Monster Kings aren’t that powerful in comparison to Awakeners or Demons of the sa rank. It took three SSS-rank Monster Kings to even hold one SSS-rank Awakener, and only the SSS-rank Ancient Space Dragon could fight at the sa rank without loss.’
Knowing that Elyndra’s power with her S grade Rulership Energy attribute, Ainsworth was relieved that she had beco powerful enough to deal with SS-rank Monster Lords.
No matter what, her talent was undeniable. He wasn’t worried about her surpassing him, but rather her not being able to catch up to him. After all, he had the God-Level Choice System to rely on, yet she likely had no cheats online.
While Ainsworth leisurely thought so, he held the dual kitchen knives while leaving the alternate dinsion, appearing behind Elyndra.
However, as usual, Elyndra seed to have eyes behind her back that could even see through his invisibility and concealnt.
When he arrived behind her, she imdiately jumped into the air even higher to evade him, performing another Style 2: Exile From My Realm, which prompted him to hide in the alternate dinsion.
Regardless, this confrontation did make him realize sothing, ’Rather than her detecting , it’s more like she anticipated I’ll make this move. It’s impossible for her to see through my layers of concealnt as I can even hide my killing intent to assassinate a peak SSS-rank Demon King, let alone an extraordinary S-rank Awakener like her.’
To test his conjecture, Ainsworth didn’t appear behind her, but this ti, he waited in place.
Sure enough, Elyndra left her current location and descended downwards as if to evade an invisible enemy, even when he didn’t make a move.
Witnessing her proving his conjecture, Ainsworth smirked, ’I already anticipated your anticipation. You know I won’t make a move against you that will severely injure you, as this is not only rely a spar, but you know that I can’t bear to do that.’
’You also know that I’d want to brag against you, so you anticipated I’d perform the oldest trick in the book of holding a knife to the neck while being behind soone, so you’d calculate and estimate the ti I’d arrive behind you.’
’And now, you’d know that I’d likely caught up on your trick so you’ll—’
Without him even having to continue his thoughts, Elyndra no longer evaded. Her voice was flat, almost masking her intentions. "Will you keep hiding and disregard the purpose of this spar, or will you fight head-on and prove your worth as my potential other half?"
’Provoke .’
Ainsworth’s thoughts trailed after hearing Elyndra’s provocation, ’Well, as I expected. But damn, even I have to admit that you know quite well, even going as far as to use my liking of you as the subject of provocation rather than my identity as a man.’
Knowing that he could no longer use the old trick of putting her hostage with a knife to her neck, Ainsworth decided to change his tactics, but still with the intention of doing it.
Appearing behind her, before Elyndra could evade, Ainsworth released his negation superpower, negating her action and thereby preventing her from continuing to perform it.
Even without the Skill Grade Superpower, his superpowers were based on his biology, virus, and viral energy, so they’d scale with his current power regardless. Due to that, his negation superpower, under the complentation of other similar superpowers, had reached the capabilities of rule-based abilities.
It was no longer limited to rely negating supernatural phenona or energy. It allowed him to negate even actions themselves and prevent them from completing them..
Since he negated Elyndra’s movent, she could no longer move and could only remain in place in the air, as Ainsworth eventually deactivated his concealnt.
But when he did, Elyndra felt Ainsworth’s presence behind her with a conspicuous kitchen knife held near her throat.
Elyndra saw that the kitchen knife seed to have its blade dulled as if afraid of slitting her throat. Moreover, she noticed that even with the blade dulled, Ainsworth didn’t place the kitchen knife near her throat that much, as if not wanting her to have an unpleasant experience.
Elyndra smiled faintly before asking, "Is the gap between our powers this wide?"
Rather than really asking, Elyndra only wanted to talk with him.
Ainsworth kept his distance, careful not to intrude on her space. "Well, Lucien Arkvale owes two favors after I saved him from Varnak, Xalvureth, and the Ancient Space Dragon. I saved him after defeating and subduing those three."
His voice was calm, yet carried the weight of certainty. "I dare say that I’m currently the second strongest in this world, so your defeat is not dishonor. What matters more is that you’re strong enough to stand before as my equal in will, if not in strength yet."
Elyndra’s eyes flickered in surprise, but she quickly composed herself. As the Crown Princess, Elyndra knew who Ainsworth was referring to, as she was even privy to those SSS-rank Awakeners whose identities were publicized.
Knowing that Ainsworth wasn’t lying, as it could easily be seen through if he did, Elyndra realized just how powerful Ainsworth had beco.
’With this strength, the imperial family will have no reason to reject Ainsworth as my husband.’
’I’ll see if Ainsworth plans to confess to now that he has gained the confidence to do so. But if he doesn’t and still is centered on avenging his sister, I can only take matters into my own hands.’
Elyndra’s expression softened, though her tone carried steel. "Strongest or not, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that we move forward together. Even if I have to claw my way to your side, I’ll make sure you never stand alone."
