Chapter 74: First Kiss
"It was the only choice..."
He said.
And truly, it was the only thing that occurred to White. To jump after.
Often, truth came when there was no time to think, and whatever surfaced was what the mind knew deep within.
In this truth, Nova chose to believe.
He snapped out of that state in the next moment, fear crawling up his face, but before he could say anything.
Nova leaned closer amidst the fall, and White’s eyes widened.
A pair of massive blue wings appeared right after, flapping once and sending both flying high into the air.
It raised them both above, before placing them gently on the grass.
There White lay, his heart pounding, but from two shocks.
First, he had almost fallen off a cliff.
A 250-meter fall might not kill him, but it very well would send him to the hospital, and he would miss tomorrow’s schedule.
Secondly, he had been kissed.
Of course, she had kissed him once before, but this time, it was different.
It wasn’t just a usual smooch; it was a real kiss.
He turned to Nova, whose head lay just right beneath his jaw.
"I couldn’t resist."
She whispered, burying her head in both guilt and embarrassment, but then, a sudden swerve, and Nova found herself on her back, the grass brushing against her cold skin.
Above her was White, who looked right into her eyes before he leaned down quietly.
He hesitated once, but only once.
In the next moment, their lips wrapped around each other softly, thoughts slowing, and minds drowning in an unfamiliar yet incredibly pleasurable feeling.
It broke after 7 seconds, leaving both exhaling.
Nova’s embarrassment had faded, seemingly bolstered by his own shock.
"First time?"
She said, tilting her head forward like how an expert would tease an amateur.
"Made it sound like it wasn’t your first, too."
He said, and in the next moment, he was the one in the grass, as their lips softly wrapped around each other once more.
It was a pleasurable feeling, the more they kissed, but then, White began to feel a bit of pain.
His body was being wrapped tightly by her massive wings, which enclosed them tighter, and his head was held in place by her hands, tight enough to make him feel a tinge of pain around his face.
He was losing more breath, but she wasn’t pausing, and in the end, he had to grab tight at one of her arms before she snapped out of it.
White smoke puffed out in between them, and a blue light was cast on White’s face.
It came from Nova, whose eyes were suddenly burning as bright as stars.
"You...Okay?"
He asked, watching as the light from her eyes slowly dimmed and she released the tight hold that she had on his face.
Only now could she see there were slight red marks on his skin where she had just removed her fingers.
That showed she must have really been holding tight.
"I’m sorry."
She said, scurrying off of him, and slipping to the side.
"It’s fine. I loved it too."
He said, gently brushing her hair behind her ears before leaning in for another kiss.
She leaned in too, but paused, her finger rising to rest softly against his lips.
"You’re only 17. Still underage."
She claimed with an evil smile, and White’s eyes rolled.
"Really? Only remembered that now?"
He said, and she giggled, but then.
DRIIING!
Her runic watch reverberated, and she sat up, swiping the interface.
"I keep that alarm up, so I get an exact time of how many hours of sleep I get in a day. It’s 11:30."
They had spent close to 3 hours here.
"You’ll need your rest tomorrow."
She said to him, and White couldn’t argue that.
He rose to his feet, and together they resumed the walk back to the dorm.
_____
DIIIING!
The familiar chime of the elevator opening, and both figures stepped out into the corridor.
It was Nova’s floor.
He had decided to walk her to her front door, pausing half a meter away.
She swiped her card on the reader, as the door unlocked, and she was about to step in, but then paused.
Turning to look at him, he also froze.
She was before him, before he could blink, and she leaned up to his height, giving him another deep kiss.
"I will be waiting for you, White."
She whispered to him before flashing once more.
BEEP!
Her bedroom door shut, leaving White alone in the corridor.
He remained there for a while before stepping onto the railings and, with a slight jump, easily threw himself over to his floor, though he froze in that moment when he noticed a figure sitting down on the railings.
He turned, and there, he saw her: Morgaine, making him unconsciously exhale in relief.
If it were Davinci, things would have been slightly awkward.
"Finally broke the act."
Morgaine said with a grin.
She had obviously picked up on their little conversation, with those pointed ears of hers.
White rolled his eyes, but then his brows furrowed, noticing there was something in her fingers and the smoke lingering around her.
"I didn’t know you smoked?"
He said to her as a park of smoke appeared in her hands.
"Took it from a couple of bullies. Surprisingly tastes well, contrary to my expectations. It has some sort of watermelon taste."
She said, before showing the pack to him.
There were two more in them, but White waved.
"I’m good."
"I’m not asking,"
She replied, and, seeing her hard stare that seemed to dare him to refuse, he shrugged in the end, picked up a cigarette, moved to the railings, and took a seat.
Screech!
A moment later, the lighter flared to life, and she brought it beneath his cigarette.
The breeze was strong, forcing her to shield the flame with her hand before the tip finally caught.
"Thank you."
