This eting would be crucial.

Neron felt impatience gnaw at his body as he awaited the presence of two of the most influential figures in the Empire. They were also one of the most powerful—especially the Emperor, who was said to be half of the strength of the Midas Empire.

Monts later, the door opened again, and two figures stepped inside.

The first was an imposing man with an aura of regality that seed to radiate from his very being. His golden robes shimred as though woven from the sun's rays, and his piercing eyes carried the weight of countless years of rule.

Behind him stood a very young boy with strikingly similar features—Prince Kuzon. The Prince's expression was calm but curious, his presence equally commanding despite being barely three years old.

Neron bowed slightly, masking his inner conflict with a facade of respect.

"Your Majesty," he greeted, his voice steady.

The Emperor offered a small, asured smile.

"Rise, young man," he said, his tone deep and soothing. "I trust you have been treated well during your stay."

"Yes, Your Majesty. Your people have been incredibly kind," Neron replied, straightening.

"I'm deeply grateful for their care."

The Emperor nodded, his gaze sharp as he seed to assess Neron. "You are an enigma to us, Neron. To appear on our shores without mory, yet carry yourself with such poise… It is rare to et soone like you."

Prince Kuzon stepped forward, his eyes studying Neron with interest.

"Father speaks highly of you," he said, his voice carrying a hint of warmth. "I hope you'll find answers soon. We'd like to help you, if we can."

Neron hesitated, caught off guard by their sincerity.

The mistrust he'd carried since arriving faltered, replaced by a flicker of doubt.

'Could they truly not know anything?'

"Thank you, Your Highness," Neron said at last. "Your generosity ans more than I can express."

The Emperor inclined his head, his gaze thoughtful. "Take your ti to recover, young one. And should you recall anything—anything at all—do not hesitate to inform us. Knowledge is our greatest ally, after all."

With that, the Emperor and his son departed, leaving Neron alone with his swirling thoughts.

The young prince, Kuzon, seed more hesitant to leave as he kept his curious eyes on Neron.

However, after the constant pleas of the guards, he finally left.

"I'll see you around!" He yelled, before leaving in excitent.

As the door closed, Neron sank back into his chair, his fists clenching as a new wave of uncertainty crashed over him.

'What is this place? And why does it feel like I'm the one being deceived?'

*********

Darkness wrapped around him like a suffocating shroud.

Neron stood frozen, his limbs heavy as though weighed down by chains. Before him was a grand golden courtyard, its brilliance marred by the grim tableau unfolding at its center.

Three figures knelt on the ground, their heads bowed, faces hidden beneath dark hoods. Even without seeing their expressions, Neron knew who they were.

Legris.

Reed Sterling.

Frankfurt Lawcraft.

The Cult mbers—his best friend and colleagues—were here, their robes stripped away and replaced with nakedness followed by an eerie, defeated silence. Surrounding them were the citizens of the Midas Empire, their faces alight with cruel anticipation.

At the forefront stood the Emperor, his golden robes gleaming brighter than the sun. His expression was unreadable, a mask of calm authority.

In his hand was a radiant blade, the very air around it humming with power.

"This is the fate of all who defile the sanctity of the Midas Empire," the Emperor declared, his voice carrying across the courtyard like a thunderclap. Explore stories at empire

Neron's heart pounded as he tried to move, to shout, to intervene—but his body refused to obey. It was as though the dream itself was determined to trap him as a re observer.

One by one, the executions unfolded.

The Emperor's blade fell swiftly, its golden light cutting through the air with deadly precision. The Cult mbers' bodies crumpled to the ground, lifeless, as their blood stained the courtyard.

A sharp, mocking laugh pierced the silence, sending chills down Neron's spine.

He scread a voiceless cry when it ca to Legris' turn.

He turned his gaze toward the source and saw Prince Kuzon standing nearby. The young man's expression was twisted into one of pure amusent, his laughter growing louder as he clapped his hands, seemingly entertained by the macabre spectacle.

Then, suddenly, Kuzon's gaze shifted. His golden eyes locked onto Neron, and his smile widened.

"You're next," the Prince said, his voice dripping with malice.

Neron's breath hitched as he realized he was no longer an observer.

Chains wrapped around his wrists and ankles, binding him tightly to a post in the center of the courtyard. The crowd turned their attention to him, their faces morphing into grotesque masks of glee and bloodlust.

Kuzon stepped closer, his laughter echoing in Neron's ears like a haunting lody. "Did you really think you could deceive us? That we wouldn't see through you?"

The Prince's fingers grazed the hilt of a dagger at his side, and his smile turned wicked.

"Now, let's see what secrets lie hidden in that head of yours."

Neron's heart thundered as the dagger descended toward him—

He woke with a start, his body jerking upright as if pulled from the depths of a nightmare.

"Haa… haaa…!!!"

His breath ca in ragged gasps, and sweat clung to his skin like a second layer. His muscles trembled, his mind still reeling from the vivid horrors of the dream.

His gaze darted around the room, searching for so semblance of reality.

The golden walls glowed softly in the moonlight streaming through the window, offering an eerie tranquility that only deepened his unease.

Then he felt it—a presence.

Soone was in the room with him.

The realization hit him like a jolt of lightning, and his body stiffened.

He didn't dare move, his instincts screaming at him to remain still as his eyes darted to the shadows pooling near the far corner of the room.

'Who is there?!'
