Chapter 81: Awake

¤●¤

I slowly opened my eyes but I was imdiately bedazzled by the lights. I used the back of my hand to rub them before trying again. I blinked not once but twice as I took in the view that stilled my mind and soul.

The biggest of trees surrounds , so big and wide, their barks covered in the growth of grass around them, they stood so tall at both sides like a hall made of trees leading sowhere.

I cast my eyes down to my bare feet and curled my toes to feel the grass, it was so soft and gentle against my bare feet and it gave

ease. I darted my eyes to the white gown I wore gently flapping by the wind and I blinked. It was beautiful but it didn’t seem like the type of gown I wore back at the castle.

What am I doing here?

The question finally hit

as I took in my surroundings once more, but I couldn’t find an answer to my question, my head was flooded and I couldn’t rember a thing.

Do I have Amnesia?

I rember reading about that word, known as mory loss, a temporary condition when the brain temporarily or permanently forgets sothing.

Maybe I currently have it... because my mory is just... blank?

I looked around at the solitary scenery. The skies are so bright and reflected on everything I see, giving it a breathtaking view. Why do I get the feeling I have seen this before?

Giant trees stood in beauty and glory on both sides like a hall all leading to a path, a path ahead that I’m more engulfed in curiosity to know what waits at the other end, it felt surreal and I felt pulled... a strong deep connection to it.

It calls to ...

So I took a step forward but that was a mistake. The most unimaginable pain struck through

like thunder and I’m suddenly hugging myself and wailing.

It hurts so much!

I should shout out but I cannot, even as my mouth parted loudly and my features squeezed no sound ca off , almost like I’m inaudible.

Soone, please make it stop!

I fell to my knees abruptly and more of the thundering pain ca coursing through my every body, it seed like even a re movent caused

to quiver.

I stared at my hands with horrific eyes, seeing my eaten flesh and the peeling of my bones.

And then I rembered it... the pixies, eating away my flesh like starvation, and it all ca back to , the bites sending a signal to my brain... pristine pain.

It’s happening again

I don’t think I can handle it

The bites

The sound of my flesh being eaten

The sickening in my stomach

When it happened, shock overrides my body to the point my five senses were lost to . But right now they weren’t, I could feel every bit of it, each bite, exploding into a thousand.

Please make it stop

I can’t breathe

I can’t move

It’s all happening again

I can’t...

William!

My body and soul called and suddenly the area leveled in crimson water, peeking up in less than a second until it covered my entire body.

I felt no pain

No sound

Not cold

No hotness

I was sinking within a river of blood but I didn’t panic, all sense of pain was gone and my body suddenly felt cold, so cold that I don’t feel the bites in my body anymore. So I closed my eyes and allowed the coldness to take... because it felt familiar.

I opened my eyes again but this ti I wasn’t drowning but I was too weak, too weak that my eyes were half opened. I felt calloused arms around , holding

against the crimson water.

Too weak

Too cold

So I closed my eyes again and allowed darkness to take , maybe I will find peace there.

☆☆☆

My eyes flicked open and I t with the dark ceilings, blinking again before moving my gaze around , taking in the view of the familiar chambers.

But I didn’t move, I lay paralyzed even though I wasn’t... I was scared to move, scared the pain would co back to haunt . And that is the last thing I wanted.

But I can’t remain frozen and stay stiff in one position, so I squeezed my eyes shut and used my hands on the bed as a support to raise my fra. It was difficult because I was quivering with each movent almost like my body getting used to moving.

Why do I feel tingles in my entire body?

I can’t stop shaking.

I gasped, resting my back on the headboard, trying to catch my breath like I just ran, eager I stared at my eyes hoping to see bites, blood, or more gore to make my stomach turn but I found smooth sun-kissed skin instead.

Not even the faintest mark...

Was it all a dream?

"Young miss"

I gasped startled as I looked up and found Elvenia at the foot of the bed. She placed her palm on her chest and gave a bow.

"You’re awake"

"E-E-Elvenia" I stuttered so badly, my words shaking with every word.

"Please do not speak Young miss, your voice is still healing"

My voice? What happened to my voice?

"I will get you sothing, you must be hungry," she said, already leaving the room.

I had so many questions to ask but it seed like they would have to wait because my stomach growled.

I dived into the porridge Elvenia brought like a starved pig, but I didn’t care, I felt so empty within

that I could not wait.

But eating was difficult, especially when my hand keep trembling with each movent, I made a ss on the tray just to get one or two spoons to my mouth.

Elvenia offered to feed

but I didn’t let her, and she didn’t protest. I think more of the porridge went to waste on the tray than into my stomach.

I grabbed the cup of water but my vigorous trembling caused it to slip off my grip but luckily Elvenia was fast in catching it before it could spill.

I felt like a baby who doesn’t know basic movents.
