Chapter 42: His Creations {2}

I was about to ask Severus the questions booming in my head at once but he was already speaking.

"I was once a magical lion creature... one who was greedy for knowledge so I ca into this library to steal knowledge for power"

My eyes widened.

"You could say I was one of the unwanted beings I told you about"

"He let you live?" That was my first question because I knew how he spoke of unwanted beings and knowing William he would have taken care of him without so much as having a second thought.

"Yes, surprisingly enough... I was lucky, I ca here for power but when I saw power itself I beca humble, realizing my mistake. The Master gave

a human body with an ancient spell known as ’The Blessing’..."

"The Blessing?"

He nods. "As I said, it is an ancient spell and very powerful. Now I’m what you call a werelion now, a shifter that can take the form of a lion if I so pleased"

I gulped.

"No need to be afraid young miss, I’m harmless" he teased.

"I know that" I mumbled with a smile on my lips. Severus was sweet and loyal... there was no way he would be dangerous.

He chuckled. "You know Elvenia was once a butterfly and Sophia a fox, both magical creatures of this dinsion sa as , but with ’The Blessing’ from our master we beca sothing more"

That explains the fox tail and ears Sophia has. And Elvenia, her pointy ears too, I wonder if she has wings too, that will be interesting to see.

"You know Elvenia has been with the Master the longest, even when the Master was still learning under Basker the forr arbiter of the library" he mused. "I think they are quite close too, she speaks to the Master more often than I do"

"Oh" I made a sound feeling uncomfortable within , I must have just imagined that but why does the thought of Elvenia speaking with William more often make

feel... off? I shrugged it off. Whatever it was, I didn’t want to think too much about it.

"Tell

Severus and I want you to be honest with " I began in a serious tone. "Why does the master wear a mask?"

He paused and gave a thinking face. "I really do not know young miss... I have never actually known why"

"I see"

"Maybe ask Elvenia and as I said she has known him the longest"

Well I already have and she doesn’t wanna tell

anything, it’s unfair.

"The master is a mystery but my loyalty to him remains, he was kind enough to spare my life and grant

this duty to serve him and I’m more than honored, Here I learned there is sothing more to Knowledge than obtaining power"

Severus’ words brought warmth to my chest and I smiled at it, but that ans he doesn’t know much about William, the only one who knew was Elvenia and I don’t know how to convince her to tell

more about him. This was not going to be easy.

"I’m sure whatever it is... the master has a reason for his mask," he said. "He ALWAYS has a reason for everything"

My eyes trembled at his words.. that ans there was definitely a reason why he said those hurtful words and why he was angry with . My hands clenched the book I held, and sothing spark within ... pure determination, I was convinced there was more to William than he shows, even though it wasn’t quite evident sotis... he gave

a purpose, and a roof over my head and three square of als every day, I was very grateful and I co to realize that there was more to William than just a cold arbiter of the Holy Library where everything about him his pure power and absolute.

His sad eyes I saw that night told

everything... I was serious about what I told him when I gave him my token of gratitude... I want to know more about him, no matter what... maybe it will get

closer to him.

I blushed... that should be nothing shaful right? We were engaged after all. I have a feeling getting my answers from Severus and Elvenia won’t do much work because there were so things they won’t tell , they weren’t supposed to even speak to

in the first place.

So I will go to the source... to William.

The next day ca so quickly, and so was my first plan. I stood behind the shelf for what seed like an hour thinking if I should do this or not. I took several rounds of breath in order to settle my fast-pacing heartbeat until I was finally able to... I gripped the book I held tightly and erged from the space and walked towards the direction of William’s office.

It ca in view and I was reminded by the first day I ca here, only that everything was familiar but I would never get used to William seated on his kingy chair as he wrote. It was srizing and I didn’t mind spending the whole day just watching him, but that will cause my plan not to work. I shook my head... stare later but now act!

I cleared my throat the mont I stopped before his desk.

"What can you help you with, Ava" his voice was firm and simple.

A chill ran through , I never realized how much I missed his voice until now, gods I want him to speak more to .

I shock my head.

"I-I-I need help with sothing" gods! I stamred so badly! What happened to being brave about this? "I-If you have ti there is a context I don’t understand"

"I’m busy now... Severus can help you with that" he said and a sharp pain ca to my chest but I pushed it aside still determined.

Although I knew he was simply brushing

off, it was clear as the skies outside. But nevertheless I continued, pushing forward to my plan.

"I’m not sure Severus can help

with this," I mumbled. His actions finally ceased but he made no attempt to look up to .

I cleared my throat and walked to the chair at the side and dragged it to be beside him. I was already panting, the chair was smaller than his but quite heavy. I released a breath as I sat.

"I know you’re a busy Master but..." I trailed as I summoned all the encouragent I would ever need, the plan was to get his attention and one thing I have co to know about William is... he takes interest in things that surprised him, let’s hope this works.

I shifted the book to him and he turned his head to it, the title bold as daylight.
