Chapter 212: Chapter 212 Betrayal_1 Chapter 212: Chapter 212 Betrayal_1 “Deep Sea ssenger?!”

The n and won wearing golden masks clearly recognized what that creature was, their expressions turned ugly, yet not surprised.

These ssengers of the Ancient Gods alone, without just those big-headed fish, could never have breached this place.

Before they could think further, the huge Fishman creature lifted an arm to grab a harpoon, and with a forceful thrust, hurled the black-tal-made spear towards Colin. However, due to the narrow passage, at least half of the people were within the striking range of this long spear.

At this mont, without waiting for Colin to act, the man and woman wearing golden masks had already stepped forward, amidst the cries of alarm.

Then they opened their hands, and a Positional Shield made of energy appeared in front of them.

The next instant, the harpoon, carrying trendous force, slamd into the shield, resulting in a huge sonic boom sound as the harpoon was forcibly stopped.

As the impetus of the harpoon faded, the “Deep Sea ssenger” gestured with his hand, and so force remotely reinforced it, causing the harpoon to fly backward as if to return to its hand.

“Wishful thinking.” The Golden Mask man thought, and the Positional Shield imdiately changed shape, extending an invisible hand to tightly grip the front end of the harpoon, making it impossible to retract.

“Not bad at all…”

Colin was surprised for a mont and took the opportunity, as they blocked the attack, to glance over and see those familiar humanoid atballs. He couldn’t help but twitch his eyelids.

He hadn’t expected that even in another world, he would still encounter these creatures causing trouble.

Almost every ti Colin saw them, they were either up to sothing or on their way to it. They were involved in everything, and this ti seed no exception.

Just what are they planning to do this ti…

But there was no ti to ponder further; the ground beneath Colin shook, and then he saw the corridor behaving as if it were the stomach and intestines of so giant creature, writhing madly and pushing them toward D-3 Area up ahead.

“Splitting, activating… the power of this damned thing is still as bizarre as ever…”

Colin steadied his footing to avoid falling on the suddenly softened ground.

At the sa ti, from the direction they had co from, a layer of silver-white nanomachines flowed like water, directly penetrating into the writhing walls. Blood gushed forth from the tal walls as if damaged, and the undulation gradually ca to a halt.

“This doesn’t feel right…” Hu Zheng suddenly had a feeling, speaking quickly, “My intuition tells that if we go forward, we might not only fail to stop the disaster, but everything could beco even more troubleso.”

“Then let’s retreat…” Qin Chuan decided to do as the other had said.

So far, Hu Zheng’s intuition had been quite accurate. Although small issues constantly arose in the directions guided by it, the overall direction was largely correct—

And that was also the reason why most teams were willing to include one or two “Fate Propellers,” the Extraordinary Ones with hardly any fighting capability, in their operations.

Sotis, with their intuitive guidance, problems could be solved much more easily.

However, upon hearing the decision in the conversation of the few, the two people contending in a standoff with the “Deep Sea ssenger” were reluctant.

“Having co this far, just one more step to stop them, and now you’re thinking of retreating?”

The man wearing the Golden Mask didn’t quite understand the concept of “Fate Propeller” and simply couldn’t comprehend why these few were thinking of leaving just because soone said their intuition was off.

At this very mont, shouldn’t they be charging in to break through the defenses, place a beacon, lower the Hague Research Institute’s defense level, and have the Foundation launch missiles to precisely bomb and take care of the evil ritual?!

But the next second, a burst of “static” ca through the man in the golden mask’s earpiece, and he looked startled. He then yelled, “Pull out! We have a mole, abort the mission, watch out for Chen…!”

Before he could finish, a giant earthy yellow hand reached up from beneath the ground, grabbed his and another woman’s lower half—who was also wearing a golden mask—and yanked hard.

Crack…

In almost an instant, both of their bodies were crushed, but no blood spilled out. Instead, there were sparks flying, with the cross-sections filled with densely packed, smoking, short-circuited tal components.

Afterward, the earthy yellow hand casually tossed aside the two bodies that seed to have lost their power.

“Director Chen, what are you doing!?” A mber of the “Human Future Research Institute,” dressed in a yellow heavy-duty protective suit akin to a human-shaped tank, incredulously looked back.

Chen Guang, who previously wore a similar protective suit, had at so point removed his protection, and a mutated hand extended into the ground, almost identical to that of “Twilight’s Children.”

And his entire being was rapidly transforming into sothing inhuman…

As mbers of the sa institute, they were well aware that Deputy Director Chen was turning himself into one of “Twilight’s Children.”

It wasn’t anything strange in itself; transforming into “Twilight’s Children” was a given and also their trump card. However, the problem was that he had started to attack his own people!

“Chen Guang, have you fucking lost your mind?! You’ve betrayed humanity!” shouted 223, who wore a golden mask and had fallen to the ground. He had barely managed to sit up before he began to curse in a rage.

He had never anticipated a traitor among humankind in the “Human Future Research Institute.” Until now, he had always believed that even if the entire board of directors betrayed them, the opposition would never turn.

But to his surprise, just as he had been blocking the “Deep Sea ssenger,” a voice suddenly ca through his earpiece—it was another deputy director of the “Human Future Research Institute” warning him to be careful of Chen Guang.

Then, before he could properly react, he was ambushed and had half of his modified body crushed.

“Betray humanity? Hah! I did not betray humanity. It is you who have betrayed us, you who first betrayed the goodwill of the Ancient God!”

Deputy Director Chen Guang glared at Colin and the others with resentnt as the thoughts in his mind materialized and projected into everyone’s brain:

“You have no idea how rciful an entity you’ve attacked. If it wasn’t for Him, barely anyone would have survived the global tsunami.

“Without His kindness, I would have died long ago, never to return to land but forever trapped atop the vast ocean…

“Yet you used the bloodline of my son to get close to Him, to backstab Him, to strip away his divinity, leading to His downfall…

“Because of your false lies, my child was killed, and everything was taken from —my descendants, my faith…

“You are the true traitors, the ones who truly deserve to die a thousand deaths!”

As he spoke, he supported himself with his hands on the ground; his muscles swelled, bursting through his clothing, as a layer of gravel-like growths erged on his skin, reflecting a light like that of the setting sun.

The others did not stand idly by during his transformation, continually attacking with their weapons attempting to stop him. What a pity that although bullets and bombs at first left so holes in him, as he transford, conventional firearms were no longer effective.
