Chapter 871: Chapter 585 “The Deep Sea Returnee

In a continuous expansion, Colin’s consciousness struggled to take shape, the ti for contemplating a single thought growing ever longer, and soon enough, he fell into a deep sleep.

Rather than being plunged into nightmares due to the various terrifying negative effects as before, this ti he truly slept heavily.

Unable to perceive anything, like death itself…

Who knows how much ti had passed, when suddenly the calm sea surface arched upwards, and then, a figure wrapped in water was spat out, tracing an arc through the air before landing with a splash in a dilapidated city near the ocean.

After rolling several tis, the figure ca to a stop amidst the rubble, motionless…

Then, there was no further movent.

Only God knows how much ti later, a group of shabbily dressed people suddenly arrived, totaling fourteen.

“The detector indicates that the anomaly index of this area is relatively stable, so there probably aren’t any dangers…” one of the fourteen, a middle-aged man of average height and agile movents, glanced at a detector in his hand.

According to the feedback, the vicinity should currently be a safe zone…

“Boss, this is a great spot! It looks like a zone just revealed by the receding tide, unexplored by anyone yet!” one of the survivors from after the disaster looked around, noticing the absence of any traces of activity, and his eyes lit up.

“It does seem like no one has been here before. Let’s start searching for supplies nearby, prioritizing dical supplies, then any functional items, followed by canned food, and then various fertilizers, or anything that can be used for composting…” the leader of the scavenging team instructed.

For common folk like them, the most valuable assets were undoubtedly various dical resources…

And then there were items from the days of old, already difficult to reproduce.

As for food… it was generally the last priority.

Because whether at the top shelters or the lowest enclaves of disaster victims, none were particularly short on food. New crops were widespread, and with suitable environnts and so fertilizer, it was always possible to quickly produce sufficient primary agricultural products.

So, even though the world had collapsed, at least having enough to eat wasn’t a problem…

Of course, if they ca across food, they wouldn’t refuse it, after all, food from bygone days could also be traded for a good amount of money.

After finishing his instructions, the middle-aged man paused and added, “Oh, pay special attention to the ruins of that mall, there’s a chance to find so gold and silver from before…”

“Really!” At the ntion of gold and silver, everyone’s faces showed excitent.

Even now, these things were still very valuable. Many forces and shelters would be willing to exchange many valuable goods to acquire this real gold and silver…

As for why, it was said that so specific precious tals seed to be able to hold extraordinary powers…

“If we can find a few dozen pounds of gold, rember to upgrade our dical equipnt,” a tall woman with an ordinary face said happily.

“Yes, if there truly is any, we will certainly trade…” the middle-aged man nodded, “but, priority still has to be updating our weapons first, then swapping out a batch of crop seedlings, as our plants are still a bit monotonous…”

After finishing their brief exchange, the people began to explore, mostly in groups of three.

It couldn’t be denied that these ruins, freshly revealed by the receding tide, could indeed be called fertile. Before long, they found a bounty so rich it would nearly fill five pickup trucks, even finding a good amount of gold and silver.

The middle-aged man observed the situation and prepared to have everyone start evacuating.

Though there were still plenty of places unexplored, they understood the adage “bite off more than you can chew”…

Carrying too much can be dangerous, making it hard to even run if trouble arises.

However, just as he prepared to order the evacuation, the only female mber of the team, who was also the only doctor, suddenly reported a new discovery.

“We found a child?” the middle-aged man was startled and then walked over.

Before long, he saw a child sitting quietly amid the rubble.

Appearing barely over ten years old, the child was wearing adult clothes that were loose and dirty, but his skin was fair and his eyes pure, though he looked sowhat dazed.

He didn’t panic at the sight of their long guns and rifles, only blinking his round eyes and looking back at everyone.

In this environnt, suddenly coming across a child was eerie, but in a sense, it was not that eerie…

“What a cute kid,” the accompanying female doctor couldn’t help but squat down, taking out a wrapped candy, ready to coax, but feeling sothing was amiss, then curiously asked, “Little one, do you know who you are?”

“Colin…” the child nodded quickly in response.

“Is there anyone else here?”

“I don’t know…”

“How did you end up in a place like this?”

“I don’t know…”

Clad in the loose clothing, Colin sat on the ground shaking his head, unable to rember much. It felt like he had experienced many things, but just couldn’t recall them for the mont…

And as their conversation continued, one of the mbers of the exploration team saw the middle-aged leader arrive and ca over to whisper:

“It looks like he might be a ‘Returner from the Deep Sea’…”

“Yes, I think so too.”

The middle-aged man nodded, relaxing his vigilance slightly.
