Chapter 64: 64 Chapter “He” and “Him”_1
[Anxiety-induced, you enter sleep, and the night passes peacefully; almost nothing happens until the next day.]
[Worried, you open your eyes, inquiring about the situation in the town, only to find that although a batch of “Beastification” patients appeared this day, the scale was less than a third of yesterday’s.]
[After half a day’s work, this upheaval was suppressed once again.]
[As nightfall approaches, Li Ming tells you he’s suffering from hunger; you suggest he step out of his comfort zone tomorrow and go about ten kiloters east of the small church to dig for earthworms and hunt birds for food, then you cut off the connection.]
[This night, too, did not present many oddities, until deep into the night when you suddenly enter a state of lucid dreaming and hear once more that “roar” from an unknown creature that you heard during the day.]
[For so reason, this roar starts to weaken…]
[But before you can understand the situation, you’ve woken up, and the day has brightened once more.]
[It’s your third day confined within the castle, and the number of “Beast Transformation Syndro” patients is diminishing, everything seems to be improving.]
[You suspect sothing might have gone wrong at the Church of the Miracle Redemption, leading to the failure of the ceremony.]
[But the closer you get to it, the more panic you feel, even foreseeing your own death several tis.]
[Anxious, you return to the castle, planning to wait until the countdown ends.]
[On the fourth day, the “Beast Transformation Syndro” breaks out again, on an even smaller scale, less than a tenth of the first day’s, and even the tyrannical nature of your own Beast Transformation Syndro seems to have diminished…]
[Yet, on the fourth day, the attempt to approach the church ets with increased danger and horror.]
[On the fourth night, you once again hear that “howling” sound, which now seems to be on its last breath….]
[On the fifth day, “Beast Transformation Syndro” almost vanishes, with the entire town counting fewer than a hundred cases in one day, less than a tenth of the first day, with no second-order patients erging.]
[On the fifth night, the roaring sound appears again, as if nearing death…]
[On the sixth day, no howls are heard, “Beast Transformation Syndro” has disappeared, but from the vicinity of the Church of the Miracle Redemption, a bluish-black haze emanates; it does not spread but rely exists there.]
[You can clearly sense one thing — the “Tyrant” is dead.]
[But before you can take a closer look, you are startled awake from the dream to find a thin layer of bluish-black haze perating the castle, with terrifying screams echoing from all around.]
[Before the dawn of the seventh day arrives, you die during the night, a few hours before the countdown ends.]
[Before long, you have beco a part of Him.]
As the “Book of Fate” vanishes, Colin hears an ambiguous sound of nibbling, chewing, and swallowing from sowhere…
A powerful Hunger surges from his stomach.
But it doesn’t last long, disappearing without a trace after a few seconds.
“Hiss, what happened here?”
Colin processes the information in his head, confused, feeling sowhat clueless.
In his view, the coming days would only grow more difficult, facing a multitude of “Beastification” patients each day, with everything hanging by a thread.
He could be torn to shreds at any mont in the erupting waves of “Beast Transformation Syndro”.
However, the information from before gave the opposite indication, truly puzzling.
Of course, to say he had no idea what was happening wasn’t entirely true; Colin vaguely realized that the ntion of the “Beast Transformation Syndro” outbreak worsening each day was likely due to the consumption of the poisoned at.
That would be those people dressed like Monk Tang…
Did that guy poison himself, using himself as an offering?
The key was, didn’t “he” notice anything at the ti?
Knew it was poisoned and still ate it?
Colin takes a breath and sees the end, acknowledging the familiar line with so speechlessness.
“So it turns out I can’t escape becoming a part of Him, huh?”
Just as he made a snide remark, Colin suddenly realized sothing was amiss, “He” seed to have beco “God”?
Does this an the one who devoured him had changed into another being?
Isn’t this third-person pronoun typically used to refer to gods or sothing of that ilk?
Associating this with the ntion of “Tyrant” being dead above, Colin blinked his eyes, feeling like things were starting to take a turn for the worse.
And this definitely had a direct relation to that poisoned at.
“So, the key to breaking the pattern might lie in how to handle the situation between these two entities, at the very least not letting that ‘he’ lose so quickly.”
“Even if death is inevitable, it should at least wait until I have arrived for the rescue.”
“There’s still one Life Paper that can be used to see what exactly will happen when entering that church.”
After so thought, Colin felt he needed to lend a hand to the one with “Beast Transformation Syndro,” although exactly how to do so was a bit perplexing.
It seems that tomorrow night, he might dream, encounter “him,” and then see if he could understand what’s going on.
With this in mind, Colin closed his eyes, sank into his thoughts, and lay down on the bed with a tranquil face, starting to enter a restful state.
Knowing that nothing would happen at night, he let his guard down a bit, planning to rest a little more.
After an indeterminable amount of ti, the sky outside the window suddenly darkened, and a feeling of oppression lifted.
Dawn arrived.
Colin opened his eyes, first faintly hearing a roar in his head, and as the roar erged, a disaster occurred once again outside the city.
He took a deep breath, sat up, and, holding his revolver, began today’s hunting journey.
The day was uneventful, with the scale of the disaster being much smaller compared to yesterday, only taking half a day to resolve everything.
This positive change brought joy to everyone’s face.
Colin wasn’t surprised by this, but knowing the final outco prevented him from feeling any joy.
He understood that the main event would likely be what he dread about tonight.
Ti ticked by, and The Night ca once again.
Colin lay back in bed, closed his eyes, relaxed his body, and entered his dreams, soon breathing peacefully.
After an unknown duration, Colin, deeply asleep, suddenly felt sothing that jolted him awake.
“Still in the dream…”
Colin looked thoughtfully around him, the surroundings seemingly enveloped by a layer of grey mist, everything blurred and unclear.
And just at that mont…
The fog surrounding him suddenly started to churn, as if a gigantic hand was stirring it.
Imdiately after, a much more piercing roar ca from a certain direction, and he turned to look in that direction. In the grey mist, he seed to see a huge beastly creature.
Its size was very close to the one he saw behind the church doors.
Just by its stature, it was probably larger than ten ters.
However, the movents it was transmitting now were filled with an indescribable agony.
“Is this that ‘he,’ or the source of ‘Beastification’? Or could it be ‘God’?”
Colin’s thoughts uncontrollably scattered, his control not as sharp as when he was awake in reality.
And at that mont, as he saw the huge beastly creature, the beast suddenly turned its head and looked over…
The instant he was fixed in the gaze of those huge, red-lit vertical beastly pupils, another roar ca through, and the wave of sound directly knocked Colin unconscious.
