Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Stage Three Beast Transformation Syndro_1
“Enemies!”
Shouts erupted from the massive church, urgent peals of bells sounding simultaneously from within.
anwhile, a cacophony of screams, roars, and the clash of tal upon tal emanated from inside.
Clearly, a battle had burst forth in an instant.
Colin and his companions looked at each other in bewildernt, clearly uninvolved in the unfolding situation inside.
“Damn! What’s happened? How could enemies have suddenly entered?”
Father Alenna glanced at Helena and the others, noting their apparent shock, and realizing they seed unaware of the interior situation.
“If you can guarantee that under no circumstances will you interfere with Bishop Laurenson’s ritual, I can take you inside. Please, regardless of anything, trust that our ultimate purpose is to solve ‘Beast Transformation Syndro’ and… save more people!”
Upon hearing the noise from within, Father Alenna gritted his teeth and ultimately made this decision.
As he spoke, he glanced over the shoulders of the group, catching faint glimpses of figures moving in the streets beyond.
He worried that if he didn’t grant passage, these people might forcibly break through, which would only lead to greater chaos and trouble.
“I will have Mr. Colin and so guards go in my stead. If they encounter Bishop Laurenson, Mr. Colin will act on my behalf.”
Helena raised a hand, pointing toward Colin, who was clad in a grey robe.
Agitated like an ant on a hot pan, Father Alenna could not afford to dwell on it any longer. In such a situation, it was indeed not suitable for nobility to enter.
“That’s acceptable, as long as you can make that promise.”
“Rest assured, we’re mainly here to look. We absolutely won’t interfere unless necessary.”
Colin stepped forward to speak, and inwardly he added…
The precondition is that there really is no problem inside.
He too was curious about these sudden intruders and who they might be, daring to interfere at such a ti.
The “Book of Fate” had ntioned that before him, others had tried to deal with that “Him,” but he had always thought these people should be Warden Calder and his allies…
Now that these individuals stood on his side, it was clear his previous guess was incorrect.
Furthermore, he had noticed sothing else—a seemingly scant understanding of “Beastification” on the part of Father Alenna.
“Alright, follow us, but only your group may co.”
Finally conceding, Father Alenna turned and hurried towards the massive church, resembling a palace, with the church’s ard forces following closely behind him.
“Keep up.”
Colin, along with Tang Ken and several guards, followed behind them.
“Being one-eyed does make things a bit difficult to adapt to, but luckily, I can still ‘see’ by relying on my nose…”
Colin sniffed the air as various scents flooded in, forming a picture in his mind.
The battle seed to be taking place in a large hall behind the church, where the Holy Healing Church’s guards were clashing with a group of odd invaders… the oddness stemming from the fact that…
“Mmm, how tantalizing, what’s with these people?”
A strong sense of hunger welled up in Colin’s stomach, an impatient desire to lay eyes on those treats… no, those people.
Before long, as they crossed the church’s atrium and turned into a hall through a side entrance, Colin observed the chaotic scene within, his expression turning bemused.
He saw a horde of short but sturdy individuals continuously charging towards the church’s rear doors.
They appeared to be an angry mob from outside the city, though it was unclear how they had made it inside.
Scattered across the floor were nurous bodies lying in disarray.
Among the crowd, Colin spotted a particularly conspicuous person, thin in stature, with a red and yellow silk-forged gown draped diagonally across his shoulder, exposing the upper half of his left chest.
He had no hair upon his head, but it was covered with growths that resembled fatty tumors, densely packed together like clusters of flesh.
A strong and incomparable scent of at radiated from him, and upon slling it, Colin rapidly salivated, developing a strong desire to eat.
“Eat him!”
“Eat him!”
“Eat him!”
In his mind, bloodthirsty thoughts bubbled up.
Colin tried hard to suppress this absurd notion, biting his tongue, and a sharp pain spread from his mouth, which finally subdued his eating urge, and his right eye regained rationality.
At the sa ti, when he saw the other, that person seed to sense sothing, turned to glance at Colin, but after a re glimpse, he averted his gaze.
“Damn it, what kind of walking humanoid pastry is this guy? What’s going on with him?”
Colin, observing the individual whose style clashed with the locale, understood why Tang Ken had ntioned seeing a traveler before.
In this perfectly good fantasy world, how did a monk manage to barge in?
The only explanation seed to be “transmigration.”
At that mont, upon arriving here, Father Alenna quickly assessed the situation, imdiately led his people to charge, and engaged with that group.
“What do we do?” Tang Ken’s ssage ca through Colin’s mind.
Colin frowned. His original plan was to find and ally with those who had broken in, to work together and see if they could get to the root of the problem.
However, now that he had seen that fellow, he felt that they likely weren’t on the sa path.
Still, even if they weren’t on the sa path, their current objective was presumably to open the large door that led to the rear.
“Find a way to open that door at the far end, deal with the rest on the fly…”
Colin had an idea, his goal was to see if he could strike “him” with a Bone Spur.
Even if it didn’t kill, it could severely wound the monster, buying himself ti.
However, just as he was about to act, a heavy set of footsteps thundered from behind the church’s door.
Without waiting for anyone to react…
With a “bang,” the door at the rear of the church was smashed open from the inside out by a formidable force.
This sudden event seed to catch everyone off guard; they all just stared dumbfounded at the breached door, peering into the darkness beyond.
It wasn’t until a monstrous figure erged, accompanied by the sound of dragging chains, that everyone gasped.
“Hiss… damn it.”
Colin’s heart skipped a beat, watching as a monster taller than three ters with a massive physique and body covered in coarse long fur, resembling a giant beast, stepped out.
As it appeared, an air of tyrannous bloodlust burst forth within the church!
At this very mont, an inspiration flashed across Colin’s mind.
The creature before his eyes…
It was at least a horrendous beast with the aura of third-stage “Beastification”!
No, it seed even more than that!
But, if it were just that, it wouldn’t be unmanageable.
