Chapter 179: Chapter 179 I’m Colin, when you see this…_1

Following the “mission” instructions, Colin and his team kept advancing through the concrete and stone-pillared sewer system for about seven or eight minutes before they finally ca across a downward turn, marked by an “↑-2” sign made of special anti-corrosion material.

Still led by the three robust cylindrical robots, the group then turned and entered the second sub-level.

Upon descending, Colin noticed that the second sub-level seed much more dilapidated than the first, but other than that, there wasn’t much difference.

However, shortly after entering, their protective suits’ built-in earphones started blaring an alarm.

“Anomaly detected! Anomaly detected! Anomaly detected!”

Several infrared rays from the cylindrical robots pointed towards a specific area up ahead.

Following their direction, Colin and the others saw piles upon piles of small animal skeletons on the ground, covered with short, black fur….

They didn’t need the robots to identify what creatures they were.

“Rats?”

Colin was surprised, noting that each heap of skeletal remains held at least thousands, if not tens of thousands of rats, with so areas where the bones were stacked over three ters high, resembling small hills.

“How are we supposed to deal with this?” an employee gasped, speaking with a touch of fear, “What if they co back to life?”

“We can’t deal with it for now,” Qin Chuan was also sowhat worried.

If there were a few hundred or even a few thousand or ten thousand, it wouldn’t be much of a concern, but the sudden appearance of tens or hundreds of millions of rat skeletons was quite frightening.

The main issue was the sheer number; they simply had no way to handle it.

At the sa ti, they also wondered what could have killed so many rats and piled them up like this.

“Let’s wait for the robotic analysis report,” Qin Chuan reassured everyone.

Then, one of the cylindrical robots picked up a rat skeleton, analyzed it inside its body, and a minute later reported the findings:

“Preliminary estimate, the creature died approximately thirty to fifty years ago, cause of death unknown, no obvious injuries observed, no remnants of internal organs, flesh, or other tissues other than skeleton and fur, appears to have been stripped by unknown ans.

“Within a one hundred ter radius of the scene, no living organisms or ‘anomaly indexes’ fluctuations were detected.

“Return route to the alert point is unaffected…

“…

“If you wish to proceed further, it is recomnded to install a ‘Reality Stabilization Device’ here to prevent accidents.”

Listening to the robot’s voice in their ears, Qin Chuan, Colin, and the others considered for a mont and decided to continue on.

Soon, Colin saw several silver tallic columns, more than a ter tall and as thick as an arm, being taken out and placed into the ground. After a few seconds, they emitted a “beeping” sound, with green light dots pulsating to indicate normal operation.

“This must be the ‘Reality Stabilization Device,’ after being put in place I feel the tyrannical nature of ‘Beastification’ inside

has been cut right off, my voice silenced. Other items seem to have been sliced as well, and continue to be suppressed…” Colin muttered softly.

After the team finished setting up, a slender employee took out a slightly yellowed piece of paper from his pocket and stared intently at it.

Under his gaze, black text began to erge on the paper.

“You try to enter the third sub-level underground, and although you encounter even more rat skeletons along the way and face no danger, during the investigation below you make so unexpected and shocking discoveries…”

“After staying a while longer, you’re eager to return, intent on communicating these findings to the outside world.”

“….”

“Eventually, you successfully send the ssage back.”

Seeing this content, he visibly relaxed, then passed the parchnt to Qin Chuan and the other colleagues.

Colin, sitting in his wheelchair, also saw the text displayed on it.

“The ‘Book of Fate: Fragnt’? Isn’t the official fragnt supposed to be used directly in the mind? And why does it feel like the official ‘Book of Fate: Fragnt’ has even more riddlers and nonsensical talk?”

Colin stared at the first line of content, unable to help himself from complaining internally that this thing only ntioned a shocking discovery but never specified what the discovery was…

Not waiting to ponder it for long, Qin Chuan signaled everyone to be cautious and they started moving.

Just like the ‘Book of Fate: Fragnt’ had said, along their way they saw even more rat carcasses than before, piling up like continuous small hills throughout the sewage space on level negative two.

The death symbol represented by those bones made Colin and the others feel an overwhelming sense of oppression, as if they couldn’t breathe, even though they hadn’t actually encountered any danger yet.

A few minutes later, Colin and his companions arrived at the entrance leading down to level negative three.

At that mont, aside from the increased number of rat skeletons, there were no other anomalies along the way…

They detected nothing wrong, Colin saw nothing wrong, and considering the “guarantee” from the ‘Book of Fate: Fragnt’, along with the thought that Miss Bunny might have specifically arranged this task, he didn’t suggest turning back.

Afterward, glancing back at the dense mountains of rat carcasses, they entered the third level.

Upon entering, before they even started to explore, they found a corpse at the corner—it was a human body!

The body was covered in dust and seated against the mud wall, so long dead that it had beco a mummy. Uniquely, its legs weren’t human but rather two chanical limbs.

At that mont, Colin’s gaze sharpened as he looked steadfastly beside the body and noticed a piece of parchnt carelessly cast aside, halfway unfolded.

“Is it a company employee? Who died here?”

Inner shock gripped Colin, and Qin Chuan, noting Colin’s reaction, also looked over and furrowed his eyebrows.

After quickly ensuring there were no issues in the surrounding area, a robot stepped forward, picked up the parchnt with its chanical arm, unfolded and photographed it, then transmitted the photo to a device resembling a mobile phone in Qin Chuan’s hands.

Generally, this was done because the parchnt might carry unknown dangers.

But, for so reason, signals like images couldn’t be transmitted inside this sewage space, resulting in a blurry ss when the photo ca through.

And as a result, the robot was also disrupted and couldn’t read the content on it.

Left with no choice, an ard individual was sent to take a preliminary look. After a few minutes with no issues detected in him, one of the extraordinary personnel accompanying them was allowed to observe.

However, after reading the content, his face beca strange and cautious as he cast a glance at Colin.

“Qin Chuan, co take a look.”

“What’s wrong?”

“Co see for yourself.”

After a while, Colin saw the two n standing shoulder to shoulder, both looking at him with consistent expressions—strange, cautious, and tinged with a hint of hostility.

Could it be that they’ve discovered my secret account? Colin was puzzled and felt it was unlikely.

No matter what, he couldn’t link how parchnt left by another employee, dead for who knows how long, could hold any information that revealed his secret…

“Maybe I should take a look too?”

Colin spoke up, curious about what was actually on the parchnt.

After so discussion, they agreed to his request. They had the robot bring the parchnt to him while covertly aiming their guns at him, ready for any accidents that might occur.

Colin was sowhat displeased internally, but kept quiet. When the robot presented the parchnt, he shifted his gaze to see the content written in dark brown ink on it.

At that mont, as he read the first line of text, he was taken aback.

“I am Colin, and by the ti you read this paper, I should already be dead…”
