"I... I couldn’t save everyone," Ning said with his voice cracking. He saw Haven burning again. He heard the screams and He rembered how helpless he’d felt. "I thought it was the only way to save anyone."

"That’s a lie!" the ghost yelled while it forced Ning back. "You saved yourself. You let die. You let Mireya break. You did it all to keep your own mind safe."

Ning could feel the truth in the ghost’s words. Deep inside, he had known this for a long ti, but had been too scared to face it. He had made awful choices. He had run away from the guilt. He had left others behind so he could keep living.

As the ghost raised its sword for one final blow Ning didn’t defend himself. He didn’t fight back, but instead He dropped his sword.

It hit the ground with a loud sound. Then he raised his hands showing he wouldn’t resist.

"You’re right," Ning said with his voice shaking slightly. "You’re completely right. I abandoned you. I let Haven fall. I made the wrong choices. I let people die because I couldn’t face what I had done. I beca soone I hated."

The ghost paused with the sword hovering near Ning’s chest. Its burning eyes flickered like the rage was weakening.

"I tried to forget," Ning went on with his voice stronger now. "I tried to move on without facing the truth. But I can’t anymore. I accept everything. The guilt. The mistakes. The people I lost. It’s all part of now." He looked into the ghost’s eyes and saw not a monster but a reflection of himself. "I won’t run anymore."

The ghost of Denz began to fade, with its shape shaking like a candle in the wind. The sword disappeared into tiny lights. The anger in its eyes turned soft like understanding or maybe forgiveness.

"You... accept it?" the ghost asked with its voice now clearer like the real Denz from before.

"I accept it," Ning said like a promise. "All of it. Even the parts that make a monster. I’ll carry the past with , not run from it."

The ghost shimred, then burst into warm golden light that spread across the room. The other ghost-figures Lyra had been fighting also faded into golden sparks.

The whole place changed.

The living room cald down. The glowing veins above stopped moving wildly and turned into a peaceful glowing sky. And in the middle, Mireya’s shining crystal slowly floated down and stopped in front of Ning. It glowed gently, waiting.

Lyra dropped to her knees beside him, breathing hard, her face wet with tears. But there was peace in her eyes.

"You did it, Ning," she whispered. "You faced it."

Ning reached out his hand, shaking and touched the crystal.

The system inside him lit up, but not with a warning—this ti with a choice.

> Sovereign core fragnt found. Reconnection starting.

CHOICE 1: Destroy the fragnt.

– This will let Mireya live free without being bound to anyone.

– But her powers will stay unstable.

– She might fade again.

– Her identity could slowly fall apart.

CHOICE 2: rge the fragnt with Ning.

– Mireya will be fully stable.

– Her life will be safe.

– But she will be connected to Ning forever.

– Ning will lose the last piece of his human self.

– He will beco fully Sovereign.

These words hit him hard. To save her, he had to give up the last part of what made him human.

Maybe this was a decision he had to make to redeem himself from whatever harsh choices he might have made in his life.

He looked at the glowing crystal in his hand, then thought about Denz’s final words—words that finally helped him accept his past.

He had already chosen to carry the weight of others, so there was no doubt that this was the next step. He had to do this now. Maybe he had to just do this. He wasn’t particularly sure but hoped he’d just do the right thing!

"rge," Ning said, his voice strong and clear, filled with purpose.

The crystal in Ning’s hand started glowing brighter. Then it broke apart and flowed into his hand, up his arm, and straight into his chest. A powerful golden light exploded out from him and filled the entire strange cathedral. It wasn’t loud but it was huge—everything shook. The living walls of the cathedral couldn’t hold the energy. They broke apart and folded in on themselves, not violently but gently, like they were lting into light and sound.

Ning and Lyra were thrown out by the blast. They were pulled through a tunnel of wild energy and slamd back into the real world.

They hit the cold stone floor of the Third Gate platform hard. Both of them gasped for air, still feeling the shock of everything they had just gone through. Their bodies ached, and it felt like the power they touched was still vibrating inside their bones.

Then, upon the surface, Mireya scread—but it wasn’t a scream of pain. It was the sound of power of mories rushing back into her mind all at once. Her body lifted off the ground, slightly glowing with bright golden light. Her strength wasn’t fading anymore—it was rising. She wasn’t just stable—she was becoming sothing more. Her power grew so intense that it made the very ground beneath her shake. The ancient stone cracked slightly from the force of it. Even the air around her started to hum like it was warning everyone nearby.

"She’s... she’s stable," Viera whispered as she knelt beside Ning and Lyra, quickly checking to see if they were hurt. Her hands shook. "No—she’s more than stable... she’s becoming sothing greater." Then Viera gasped as she saw Ning’s shoulder. She pulled back his coat, revealing a glowing symbol burned into his skin. It was round, made of two connected threads, and it shimred with golden light.

"Ning," she whispered, sounding both amazed and a little afraid. "You’ve changed completely. You’re... Sovereign now."

Before anyone could take in what this ant, Aeris shouted from nearby, her voice tight with fear.

"Ships! In the sky! Lots of them!" She pointed toward the edge of the horizon where the light of the new day was still dim. "It’s the Guild! And they’re sending soldiers—ard soldiers. Look at their weapons... They’re made to stop Sovereigns. They’re not here to save us. This is Phase Two of Project Black Bloom."

She looked pale. "They’re here to kill us."

Just then, a cold ssage flashed in Ning’s mind, clear and sharp:

> Enemies arriving in 3 minutes. Prepare for attack.

Ning gritted his teeth and forced himself to his feet. Lyra groaned beside him and stood too. The mark on Ning’s shoulder burned like fire. Mireya was standing now as well, her eyes glowing gold. Power poured off her like heat from the sun.

A group of soldiers in heavy armor landed on the edge of the platform. Their boots hit the stone with a heavy thud. They moved in perfect formation clearly trained their large weapons, already aid at Ning’s group.

Then their leader stepped forward and took off his helt.

It was Tao Cheng.

His face looked tired, but his eyes were cold—colder than Ning had ever seen.

Speaking through a device on his neck, Tao’s voice echoed across the platform. It was clear and emotionless.

"By order of the Grand Council," he said, looking at Ning, then Mireya and the others, "Reclair Ning Que is to be executed. Anyone who helps him will be called a traitor and treated as an enemy of the state."

Ning’s friends quickly moved around him and Mireya, forming a tight group. Their faces were serious. Their stances are ready. Lyra raised her glowing spear. Viera dropped her shield spell and started building up energy for a blast. Aeris pulled out her blaster, her face set with determination.

Then Mireya stepped forward.

The golden light in her eyes blazed even brighter. She didn’t look like a normal person anymore. She looked like sothing greater, stronger than any of them had ever seen before. Her voice was calm and steady, but it carried enormous power.

"Then I guess this ans we’re at war."

As soon as she said those words, the ground shook. But this ti it wasn’t because of her.

It ca from sowhere deeper, far below the Third Gate. The cliffs cracked open, huge cracks spreading through the stone. The sky above darkened again, not because of the ti of day but because sothing was coming. Sothing big.

And then they heard it—a voice that wasn’t human.

It didn’t belong to the Guild. It wasn’t from any Sovereign either.

It was ancient. Cold. And it whispered across the air like a forgotten nightmare finally speaking again.

"He woke us too soon."

The platform groaned. It felt like reality itself was bending. The sky didn’t just darken—it started tearing apart.

And everything turned gold...
