Wang Ruhu laughed so hard tears almost ca out, as he watched Dashan, convulsing with laughter on the spot.

His facial expression was scornful, his eyes looked at Dashan as if he were a fool.

The sudden burst of laughter made the atmosphere eerily strange.

"Xiao Wang..."

A few uniford staff mbers stepped forward and tugged at Wang Ruhu’s clothes, seeing his frantic deanor, one of them whispered, "Have you gone mad? This man has connections, didn’t you hear them say they would call the County Secretary over the phone?"

"If you keep this up, be careful not to offend people, you won’t like the consequences."

"Exactly!"

The rest of the staff looked worried. They couldn’t say anything about ordinary villagers delaying them for a little while, and in the end, they still had to put on a smile for themselves.

It was different with soone who had connections; they might lose their jobs.

"Township Secretary?"

Wang Ruhu sneered sharply, "Him, know the Township Secretary? You should take a look at him. He doesn’t have one hundred yuan to his na, drives a beat-up used car, and you believe soone like him knows the Township Secretary?"

"If he knows the Township Secretary, I’ll eat shit!"

After hearing Wang Ruhu’s words, the staff mbers snapped back to reality, scrutinizing Dashan from head to toe, then walked over expressionlessly.

They decisively concluded that this kid was definitely bragging.

Seeing his colleagues disperse.

Wang Ruhu grew even more arrogant, with a look of disdain on his face, he tilted his head back and said to Dashan, "Get lost!"

"Dare to co here and pretend? I think you’re tired of living!"

"How can you do this?"

Zhang Xuewen stood in front of Dashan, mustering up courage to glare at Wang Ruhu, her voice trembling, "Does doing business also have to involve connections?"

"You are going too far, serving us is your job; not only have you repeatedly made things difficult for us, you even... even humiliate people like this."

"Humiliate you?"

Wang Ruhu leered, touching his chin, his green-eyed gaze landing on Zhang Xuewen’s chest, step by step he moved closer.

"What... what are you trying to do?"

Zhang Xuewen instinctively covered her chest, stepping back continuously.

She was even more afraid, knowing that these people had connections to get jobs here; ssing with them would spell trouble.

What was she, a country girl, to do?

With his sharp monkey-like features, if she was humiliated by him, death would be preferable!

As this thought crossed her mind, Zhang Xuewen’s tears swirled in her eyes. Suddenly, she felt a warmth at her waist, which eased the coldness of her limbs. Turning her head, she saw the young man she had just t standing behind her, one hand supporting her waist, fearlessly staring at Wang Ruhu, his voice cold as he warned, "If you dare take one more step forward, I’ll break your damn legs!"

The voice was bone-chilling.

Zhang Xuewen’s tears stread down, her body almost completely nestled against Dashan’s, as if only then could she feel safe.

"You bastard..."

Wang Ruhu clenched his fists, furious as he approached Dashan.

With a "bang", the door was pushed open, and everyone in the hall turned to see a middle-aged man in a suit with a receding hairline hastily entering the hall.

Seeing this, Wang Ruhu quickly let go of his fist, giving Dashan a look that said, ’You and I are not done,’ and approached the newcor.

"Director, what brings you here?"

Wang Ruhu imdiately changed from his previous disdainful deanor, fawningly running to the middle-aged man, who took a handkerchief out of his pocket to wipe his face and his shiny forehead.

He was impatient and pushed Wang Ruhu forward.

He addressed everyone in the hall, "Pay attention to your work."

Then, turning his head toward Chen Dashan and Zhang Xuewen, he frowned and said, "What are you two doing here? If it’s business you’re handling, hurry up and see to it. Why are you standing around?"

The director had just received a call from the Secretary, who said he would arrive soon.

Breaking out in a cold sweat, he hurried down from the second-floor office, his heart in turmoil. Could it be that there was a flaw in his work, which made the Secretary co to inspect personally?

He was hoping to climb higher this year, and offending the Secretary could jeopardize his future.

"Everyone, get serious and present your best working attitude."

The director’s eyes were sharp as he gestured commandingly at the tellers. Suddenly, soone at the main door shouted, "Director, Director, the person has arrived, the person is here!"

The director’s pupils contracted; his face beca tense and stern as he ran outside.

Wang Ruhu and the other staffers were stunned. Who was this important figure that made their director so anxious?

Soone entered through the door; the director bowed his head, pulling the door open imdiately.

Chen Dashan curiously turned his head and saw a man in his forties entering. He wore gold-rimd glasses and looked ordinary, but he carried an elegant deanor with a hint of authority.

Could this be the Township Secretary that Sister Wang ntioned, the top leader of Longshan Town?

Chen Dashan wasn’t sure. After all, such trivial matters could be solved with a phone call by the Township Secretary; there was no need for him to make a personal visit in this heat.

"Everyone, co here!"

The director waved his hand, and all the staff in the hall stood up and converged towards the center. They were used to this sort of situation, as sudden inspections by upper-level leaders typically sparked such displays.

Curious, Chen Dashan also stood up and looked toward the main door.

Seeing this, Wang Ruhu blocked Chen Dashan and whispered harshly, "Country bumpkin, do you think you are worthy to et such important people?"

"Slling like soil, don’t you fear asphyxiating others? Go stand over there!"

"Watch your mouth!"

Provoked once and twice, even the best temper could not withstand it. Chen Dashan’s face was cold, and though his voice was not loud, it was distinctly audible in the room.

Everyone turned their heads in unison to look at Chen Dashan and Wang Ruhu.

The director looked displeased.

Wang Ruhu imdiately ingratiated, "I will take him out right now."

As he was about to lay his hands on Chen Dashan, Chen Dashan dodged. Wang Ruhu frowned and was about to speak.

The middle-aged man who had just entered suddenly smiled and said, "You must be Chen Dashan, right?"

His voice was soft but resonant.

Chen Dashan shrugged off Wang Ruhu’s hand and stood tall, saying, "Yes!"

Instantly, all eyes fell on Chen Dashan. The staff wore shocked expressions, so wide-eyed, so mouths agape; even the director, looking at the simply dressed Chen Dashan, was utterly perplexed and stood frozen.

When he ca to his senses, his forehead was covered in cold sweat. The director quickly pulled out his handkerchief and bowed his head to wipe the sweat off.

Wang Ruhu was dumbfounded, staring at Chen Dashan’s profile, his feet as if fixed to the floor.

Chills ran down his back, and his lips trembled as he recalled his earlier words: "Impossible, impossible, how could you know the Secretary?"

Chen Dashan didn’t even glance at Wang Ruhu. To him, the man was just a clown, not even worth getting angry over.

"Truly a young talent."

The Secretary smiled warmly at Chen Dashan, nodded in approval, and moved quickly to him, grasping Chen Dashan’s hands, and continued, "I am indeed pleased to et you. Boss Wang was right."
