Caroline smiled as she shook hands with her, "I was just speaking my mind."
Gan Yuan glanced at Betty, "Thank you so much, Princess Betty!"
"It’s nothing," Princess Betty replied indifferently, "But I should remind you, I will challenge you again in a few days. Rember to prepare my necklace and return it to when I win."
"Necklace?" Duchess Caroline looked at her granddaughter and then at Gan Yuan, "Have you two t before?"
Gan Yuan smiled, "Yes, I had the honor of witnessing Her Highness’s archery skills before."
Duchess Caroline instantly burst into laughter, "So you are the one who beat Betty! No wonder this girl has been practicing archery at ho daily because she lost to soone."
Princess Betty pouted discontentedly, "Grandma!"
"There’s nothing to be embarrassed about losing to Gan Yuan." Caroline laughed as she held her granddaughter’s arm, "Didn’t you always say you wanted her to be your coach?"
"When did I say that?" Betty retorted, noticing Duchess Caroline’s smile. She suddenly turned to look at Gan Yuan, "She... she is the fitness coach you ntioned before."
Previously, Duchess Caroline had spoken to Betty about Gan Yuan, and knowing how skilled she was, Betty had admired her greatly and even ntioned wanting to ask her to be her fitness instructor when given the chance.
Later, because Betty had been misled by Barbara’s one-sided accusations, she misunderstood that Gan Yuan was intentionally targeting Barbara, so she went to challenge her, without knowing that Gan Yuan was the fitness coach Duchess Caroline had ntioned. Caroline also knew that Betty had been speaking about losing in archery but didn’t realize her granddaughter’s opponent was Gan Yuan.
Betty, being straightforward, couldn’t stand Lily’s attitude towards Gan Yuan earlier. Despite having so grudges with Gan Yuan, she still stepped out to defend her against Lily.
It was only at this mont that the grandmother and granddaughter realized that the person they had been talking about all along was Gan Yuan.
Previously, Duchess Caroline had always admired Gan Yuan greatly and had heard many things about her. Being able to see her again here, Caroline felt sincerely happy.
Betty knew about Gan Yuan participating in the competition and greatly admired her courage. Now knowing that she was the highly praised person by her grandfather, Betty’s admiration for Gan Yuan grew even more, though she was too shy to show it outright. Her eyes, however, were filled with longing.
Leading Gan Yuan to the sofa on one side of the hall, Duchess Caroline’s expression was gentle, "I know you must be very busy lately, but please make sure to visit when you have the ti, so Betty can learn from you properly."
"You flatter . I don’t think there’s anything worth learning for Her Highness."
Caroline glanced at her granddaughter, "She has a lot to learn still!"
"Grandma!" Betty said coquettishly and then turned to Gan Yuan, "At that ti, we can compete in archery again."
Though her words were a bit tough, the ssage between the lines expressed her welco to Gan Yuan.
Gan Yuan showed a sincere smile, "If I have the chance, I’ll definitely visit."
Aside from gratitude, Gan Yuan felt a genuine sense of recognition for both of them, especially for soone like Betty, whose personality she particularly admired.
From the stairs, General Barton watched the group deeply with a contemplative expression.
