Her approval rating was over 70%, and that was a conservative figure. The other candidates didn’t stand a chance against her.
"I don’t care about that right now." Gan Yuan lifted her face from his chest and gently stroked his face with her finger. "The baby is three months along today."
Huangfu Jue reached out with a warm hand and gently caressed her slightly rounded belly.
"Soon, he will be born... I think he’ll be as cute as Xiaotang."
"Do you prefer a boy or a girl?"
Huangfu Jue smiled.
"It doesn’t matter."
Gan Yuan smiled softly, placed her hand over his, and leaned against his chest. Huangfu Jue switched off the lights, slightly tightening the arm wrapped around her shoulders, holding her gently.
In the darkness, the two fell asleep while embracing each other, quickly drifting into dreamland.
They had been busy for so long, and now they both needed so good rest.
The next morning.
When Gan Yuan woke up, Huangfu Jue was not there. Beside her on the pillow lay a neatly folded set of blue clothes, the outfit he had prepared for her.
After a simple wash-up, she changed into her clothes and pushed the door open in confusion.
Boom!
Paper fireworks exploded in the air, and colorful petals showered down from above.
"Congratulations on becoming our new President!" everyone shouted in unison.
Gan Yuan raised her hand to brush the confetti from her face, and saw down the hallway.
Moses, Huangfu Qi, Chongchong, Andre, Abel, Betty, Qiao Liang, Chu Xinqing... everyone was there, holding either strears or petals, each with a smile on their face.
"You all..." Gan Yuan exclaid in surprise, "How co you’re all here?!"
"That’s because we arrived here last night."
"Yes, soone arranged a plane for us and insisted we arrive in advance, or else they said they’d never speak to us again!"
...
Everyone chid in, one after another.
"Alright, everyone, make so room!"
At Jessica’s voice, the crowd imdiately parted to the sides, creating a pathway.
At the end of the path, there was a little scene of Gan Yuan and Huangfu Jue both dressed in ceremonial attire, with a little one pushing a small cart bearing a beautiful large cake.
The cake was decorated with patterns and had an exquisite crown in the middle, with words written in chocolate.
Pushing the small cart in front of Gan Yuan, Gan Tang looked up with a smile.
"Mommy, congratulations on winning!"
Early in the morning, the election monitoring committee had officially announced that Gan Yuan successfully secured the election victory with 82% of the votes.
The news spread, and the nation rejoiced.
Gan Yuan’s election was truly what everyone hoped for; it was the most anticipated result.
Knowing Gan Yuan would surely win, Huangfu Jue had specially invited everyone over to prepare this little surprise for her.
She had no family, and he didn’t want her to be lonely at her proudest mont.
So, he gathered everyone to celebrate with her, just so she could share those joys and excitents with soone.
Knowing this was the surprise Huangfu Jue had prepared for her, Gan Yuan looked at her loved one and son before her with a face full of emotion, her eyes filled with gratitude.
"Thank you, thank you everyone."
"No need to thank us; we didn’t make this cake," Chongchong laughed. "Be careful when you eat it later—it was soone’s first ti in the kitchen, so it might not be fully cooked!"
Gan Yuan looked up incredulously at Huangfu Jue.
"You made this?"
