Tristan’s Point Of View
"Who is it from?" Sylvester asked, drawing everyone’s attention.
I looked up and noticed Ferdinand looked sick to his stomach. I began to get a little worried. He looked at and then sighed. Sylvester got up from his seat and snatched one of the envelopes from Ferdinand.
"Shit! No way..... But, why?" Sylvester said, ripping open the letter as Ferdinand opened his.
As they read them, their features beca increasingly worse. Sylvester’s must have been exceptionally worse, because by the ti he was done reading it his knees hit the porch.
"Is he serious!? A plus one!? That’s just asking for trouble!" Sylvester yelled.
"Who? Let see..." Bellamy said holding out his hand.
They all basically passed around the letters looking more and more withered by the minute. Ferdinand eventually picked up and carried towards the house without a word.
"Mom could you watch the kids and make sure they get back to the playroom within an hour? We have to talk about sothing important with Tristan..." I heard Bellamy say, before following after us.
"Ferdinand... are you going to tell what’s going on?" I asked.
He softly kissed my face, not saying a word. We made it all the way to his room and bed before he said a single word.
"Haaah... Syl. Do you know what would happen if we went alone?" Ferdinand asked, laying on the bed and looking up at the ceiling.
"A war.... for sure..." Sylvester replied, sitting at the foot of the bed.
"And if he goes?"
"Soone is going to die, I guarantee it..." Sylvester sighed.
"So I’m not the only one who’s thinking this way. We’re damned if we do and damned if we don’t." Ferdinand replied.
"The real question is why? What has Zachariah so scared that he’d summon everyone?" Sylvester asked.
"Sooo... are you guys going to keep ignoring my existence or is soone going to tell wha–"
*Knock... Knock... Knock...*
"Not a good ti..." Ferdinand groaned.
"You’re absolutely right, that’s why you need to see this..." yhymn replied.
Ferdinand imdiately sat up upon hearing yhymn’s voice.
"Co in..." Ferdinand said.
"We have a massive problem guys. I think a war might break out here soon..." yhymn said looking worried.
I couldn’t help but worry, considering that that’s exactly what Ferdinand and Sylvester were just saying.
"Why?" I asked.
"How do you know that?" Ferdinand asked at the sa ti.
"That fucking prick nad Danhiel... he sent this video to all of the facilities, mayor’s, and Mafia kings." yhymn said, turning a small screen around.
I imdiately brought my knees to my chest. It was Danhiel and everything he was saying felt like a curse upon my life.
"Citizens of Delgahtowe,
I co baring important news. If the mayor or Mafia King in charge of the duhtchies can produce an infallible Oga geno, OR capture the Runaway Oga known as Tristan, who is currently sporting said DNA, the reward given will be any and everything you request. I wish you all the best of luck, and happyhunting." He ended his statent with a knowing smirk.
All at once everyone’s pheromones exploded out of anger. Their eyes were glowing fiercely and their faces promised death.
"Well I suppose this is why Zachariah is worried. And why he summoned you." Bellamy said.
"That’s not all guys..." yhymn said looking withered.
"What else is there?" Cole asked.
"Ezekihel had been right. Lore’rahlye does have a way to nullify mating marks. The reason why it’s not public knowledge is because it will only work on facility made Ogas." yhymn said with a sorrowful sigh.
It was all bad news. My head was spinning from the increasingly horrible news. There seed to be no end to it. Ferdinand and the others were getting increasingly more pissed off the more ti passed. Their pheromones should have been overwhelmingly oppressive, but the copious sll was actually more comforting than ever.
"Seeing as you’re more angry now than before, why do you think a war is coming?" yhymn asked Ferdinand.
"We’ve been summoned by Zachariah. On top of that, he has said Tristan can co as a plus one...." Sylvester groaned.
I couldn’t help but be surprised. I didn’t quite understand why that was such a horrible plan until yhymn broke it down further.
"Ah... I see. Tristan in a room full of Alphas, bad idea. Tristan left at ho for three days, also bad idea..." yhymn groaned, putting his hand on his forehead.
"Not to ntion you can’t go and neither can the twins... it’s quite alarming to be honest." Ferdinand added.
"When was that video sent out?" Cole asked.
"Sunday morning."
"Well that explains why Sîvret knew things he shouldn’t have..." Sylvester said.
"Thanks yhymn, I’ll keep you posted. Just make sure the kids are all inside and the n and house are on high alert. We can’t be too sure of anything right now." Ferdinand said.
yhymn nodded before turning to exit the room. I had many questions, but I didn’t even know where to start. I looked over at Ferdinand, then scanned the room. They all looked sick and worried.
"Can I see the letters?" I asked.
Bellamy handed one and I read it, enthralled at the aspects of sothing I didn’t know...
’Mafia Kings & Queen,
This is an official summons that you cannot refuse. Doing so would see your title revoked and your life forfeit. You are to arrive in Demhongade by Saturday, October 19th no later than 1pm. You are allowed to bring up to two guards as your security detail. Violators will be shot on sight. As you know Demhongade is neutral territory, there will be no fighting amongst yourselves here. Violators will be stripped of their titles and killed on site. Rember the 5 rules. Violations will NOT be tolerated.
Your Grand Monarch, Zachariah.’
"Um... Ferdinand...? You’re a Mafia King? What even is that?" I asked.
Sure he said he was a Mafia boss, but King sounds waaay more important. I couldn’t help but look up at him in shock. He gave an awkward smile but didn’t answer my question. There was a long quiet pause before anyone said anything.
"So listen... no one can just walk around claiming to be in the Mafia. There are rules, tests, and procedures that need to be followed. Once you are recognized as such, you are given certain duties to uphold. We aren’t just out here fighting and killing each other. You are expected to better your land, your people, your community, and your Duhtchy. If you cannot, or your Duhtchy ends up worse off when you are put in charge, you are stripped of your title and banished to an outskirts Duhtchy not owned by anyone and more lawless than Maihzdin. The Duhtchy was aptly nad Whastelahnd." Ferdinand said.
"In the event you can turn that duhtchy around and make it into a prosperous land, you can get officiated again. But no one has ever co close... they are usually killed within a month or so..." Sylvester added.
"So are you the Mafia King of Sayenrio?" I asked.
"No, dear Gods that would kill for sure. My Duhtchy is StohneGarrdin..." He replied with a small smile.
"And you Sylvester?" I asked.
There was no way Sylvester saw Ferdinand beco a Mafia King and didn’t say, ’Anything you can do, I can do better.’ So I was curious about the place he lorded over.
"Ah, yea well... my Duhtchy is called Sa’Ryne. It’s small and quaint and runs itself most days. I have n there but I’m never personally needed there..." Sylvester shrugged.
I couldn’t believe it. It was crazy to even think about. They were basically in charge of their own cities... But they were here with instead of doing their duties. I wasn’t sure how to feel about that.
"What are the 5 rules?" I asked curious.
"Uhm... well... Ferdinand?" Sylvester said stretching.
"You actually forgot didn’t you? Haaah... a child through and through..." Ferdinand sighed.
He then went on to list the rules, and it was surprising to know they had their own laws and grading system.
Rule #1: A Ruler may not wage unnecessary wars.
Rule #2: A Ruler will not rule by violence and fear alone. The system must always have punishnt and reward.
Rule #3: A Ruler may not take a life unnecessarily. It must be justified with absolute reason.
Rule #4: A Ruler cannot wage war for more land. They must seek a eting with the opposing Ruler and Monarch to discuss it properly.
Rule #5: Rulers will treat Demhongade as neutral holy ground, and never set foot into the duhtchy for warmongering or violent ans.
I couldn’t say the rules were very good ones. There was a lot of gray area with them. They could be easily twisted to fit soone else’s agenda, and that made a bit uneasy...
