Run Away After Flirting: Get Lost, Mr. Attorney! Chapter 22: Today Is Her Father’s Death Anniversary
Sumr Nolan chuckled, "You can sleep with whoever you want, who cares about you?"
Just as she finished speaking, Iris Lynn walked in with a cup of water. Seeing the two of them standing together felt a bit strange. Weren’t they sworn enemies?
Why are they standing so close?
"Attorney Spencer, Attorney Nolan..." she greeted them.
Both of them turned around to glance at her, lost in their own thoughts, and didn’t respond.
"Attorney Spencer, why are you making coffee yourself? Call next ti, I’ll make it for you."
Iris walked up to him and said, her tone full of care for him, reluctant for him to be even a bit tired.
Elias Spencer took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, bit one between his lips, lit it, took a puff, and rely responded with a single word: "Hmm."
This "Hmm" sounded sowhat indulgent to Sumr’s ears, making her smile slightly. Indeed, once you’ve been intimate with soone, your attitude toward your assistant changes.
"By the way, Attorney Spencer, are you having lunch at the office or going out?" Iris asked with concern, as it was almost noon.
"Outside." He spat out the words.
"Alright, I’ll book a table for you, at your favorite restaurant, right?"
Sumr looked at the assistant, who seed quite good at taking care of people, always submissive and full of admiration for him. Just as Julian Rivers said, with their personalities, they were naturally a perfect match.
"You can co with to lunch." Elias said suddenly after taking a drag on his cigarette.
Iris was imdiately filled with surprise, excitent, and joy... This was the first ti he had asked her to have lunch together...
Does he finally have feelings for ?
"Okay." She hastily agreed, her voice trembling with excitent, her face flushing slightly red.
Sumr tried to maintain a faint smile, looked away from his face, took a cup of warm water, and left. She didn’t even want to make instant coffee.
Elias glanced at her back, his expression indifferent.
After work at noon,
Sumr ordered takeout and ate it in her office. After eating, she planned to rest on the sofa, but her mind was chaotic, making it impossible to fall asleep.
She had insomnia for a while, probably because there were too many things on her mind. Sotis it was the terrifying scene of her father jumping off a building, an urgent but temporarily unfulfilled wish.
Sotis it was because of work.
And sotis it was because of Elias...
Sumr placed a hand over her closed eyes, trying hard to fall asleep. Suddenly, there was a knock on the office door: "Knock knock—"
Alright, now she’ll definitely not be able to sleep.
"Co in." She took her hand down, sat up, and replied.
The office door opened, and Julian Rivers walked in with a cup of bubble tea, "Why didn’t you go out for lunch?"
"Too lazy." Sumr replied simply.
"I bought you a cup of grass jelly milk tea. It’s quite good, give it a try." He was drinking a cup himself, handing the other cup to her.
"Thanks." She accepted it generously.
Julian sat on the armrest of the sofa, took a sip of the milk tea, and intentionally said to her, "I saw Elias and Iris eating lunch together at noon."
Sumr inserted a straw and drank a sip, giving a slight smile, "That’s his freedom. I broke up with him a long ti ago."
They even slept together last night. What does having lunch together matter?
"Have you thought about getting back with him?" Julian probed.
Sumr leaned lazily against the back of the sofa, her long legs crossed casually, her tone indifferent,
"... It’s been two years since we broke up and didn’t get back together; what’s the point now? Besides, our personalities really don’t match. Why are you asking about this?"
"Nothing, just talking casually, curious, asking casually." He laughed, thinking, maybe I have a chance?
"Don’t pursue . I just want to focus on my career and making money now, not thinking about dating. But we can be friends." Sumr guessed his thoughts but rejected him in advance.
She had no feelings for Attorney Rivers and didn’t want to waste his ti.
Julian felt a bit disappointed hearing her words, but considering she could even give up Elias Spencer, who was handso, talented, and from a prominent background, she indeed had a strong career pursuit.
Many won liked that man, but she chose her career over Elias.
Thinking of it that way, it didn’t seem so depressing anymore; he was quite impressed by her.
In the afternoon, both Sumr and Elias went to Summit. The two of them didn’t say a word for several hours, both engrossed in their own tasks.
They appeared very focused.
But it seed more like they were in a cold war—
Even the air in the eting room felt chilly, the oppressive atmosphere making it hard to breathe.
But both of them were very resistant to pressure.
Sitting for a long ti made Sumr’s lower abdon hurt. She took out a lady’s cigarette from her bag, bit it between her lips, tilted her head to light it, took a deep puff, and exhaled a swirling cloud of smoke.
Elias looked up from the docunts, glanced at her, his brows furrowing slightly, and then lowered his eyes without saying anything.
He continued to review the contract in his hand.
Sumr stood up, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, twisted her neck, looking at the gloomy sky outside, the heavy clouds pressing low on the rooftop, seemingly ready to collapse at any mont.
There was a heavy, humid scent of impending rain in the air, making it hard to breathe.
She glanced back at him slightly, then turned silently away. He must be in a relationship with Iris by now, right?
Having slept together—he should be responsible?
In the evening, they both tacitly worked overti for two hours. Dinner was ordered takeout, and while eating, both of them were lost in their own thoughts, with indifferent expressions, not saying a word.
The entire large conference room had only the sounds of their breathing and the occasional clinking of bowls and chopsticks.
The next morning.
The rain finally started falling, fortunately just a light drizzle, not affecting driving.
Sumr didn’t go to the law firm or Summit today, but went with her mother to the cetery. Today was her father’s death anniversary—
"Ah, in the blink of an eye, your dad has been gone for ten years. Luckily, you’re doing well now. It’s not in vain that we co every year to honor him." Mrs. Nolan said with a sigh while sitting in the passenger seat.
"Hmm." Sumr was driving, just responding faintly.
"Is everything going well at the law firm? Is anyone bullying you?" If anyone bullied her, she’d complain to her dad later, let him take away those who bullied his daughter!
"Everyone is quite nice."
"Is that person with the last na Zhou treating you well?" Mrs. Nolan raised an eyebrow and asked.
"He spent a lot of money to poach , so naturally, he has to treat like an ancestor." When Sumr said this, a hint of sarcasm flashed in her eyes.
Hearing her daughter’s words, Mrs. Nolan clicked her tongue. He’s really stupid, being played by her daughter!
It’s already past ten in the morning by now, Elias sat alone in the conference room at Summit, looking at the empty chair opposite, frowning.
Holding it back for a while, he eventually took out his phone and called his assistant, asking in a deep voice, "Is Attorney Nolan at the law firm now?"
"No, Attorney Nolan hasn’t co here," Iris replied respectfully.
She didn’t go to the law firm, so where did she go?
He hung up and directly called that woman—
Sumr glanced at her phone, chuckled. Isn’t he not speaking to ?
Why is he calling?
Just as she was about to hang up, Mrs. Nolan suddenly took the phone from her, "You focus on driving, I’ll answer it for you."
