The corridor was dimly lit, with everyone wearing masks, Ian Sterling didn’t recognize his own bodyguards. He quickly caught up and held onto her arm,

"I’ll walk you over."

"I can go by myself, you should go in." Sumr Nolan removed his hand, speaking to him in a manner both familiar and distant.

Ian was uneasy about her wandering around drunk in such a chaotic place and ignored her words, supporting her to the restroom anyway.

The Sterling bodyguards had to pretend to walk forward and didn’t dare to act rashly now.

By the roadside outside the bar.

After coming out of the restroom, Sumr planned to leave directly, Ian opened his car door and called her, "Get in, I’ll take you ho."

"I can just take a taxi," she said.

"We live so close, why bother with a taxi? Don’t you consider a friend?" he asked deliberately.

Hearing this, Sumr had no choice but to get into his car. Having drunk so much tonight, she couldn’t keep Elias company. She sent Elias Spencer a ssage saying her mother wasn’t feeling well, so she wouldn’t be coming over.

On the way, she fell asleep uncontrollably.

"Ring—" Suddenly, her phone rang. Seeing her asleep, Ian took the phone from her hand, with Elias Spencer’s na flashing on the screen.

Gripping the steering wheel tightly, he hesitated for a mont and hung up on the man’s call, even deliberately turning off the phone.

Elias just wanted to ask about her mother’s health, whether she needed to go to the hospital.

He called again, but seeing the phone turned off, he didn’t call back.

Ian, now downstairs at his place, deliberately didn’t wake her up or plan to take her back, instead, he carried her into his own ho!

The other night, Elias secretly brought her ho while he was in the restroom, so why couldn’t he?

Seeing the woman he liked with another man, right under his nose, was sothing he truly couldn’t accept.

He wasn’t that magnanimous; he couldn’t wish her happiness.

Ian laid her on the bed in the guest room, sat by the bedside, lightly caressed her slightly flushed cheek, his eyes dark and intent on her, much like a beast locking onto its prey.

There was danger lurking.

He hesitated whether to make a move.

A wicked thought rose uncontrollably in his heart, he wanted to take advantage of the situation, to make her his woman. If Elias could do it, why couldn’t he?

If he slept with her, surely she would break up with that man, right?

His fingers moved uncontrollably, inching downwards to stop at her chest. He leaned in, kissing her with a vengeful passion—

Semi-conscious, Sumr stirred awake, pushing hard against the man on top of her, thinking it was Elias, she hit him:

"Elias Spencer..."

Hearing her mistake him for that man, Ian paused, his face darkened, seething with jealousy.

If he slept with her tonight, Elias would certainly retaliate, right? Summit was still in danger, with stocks plumting.

If the Spencer family sought revenge again, they might not withstand it.

For the sake of his family’s business, Ian regained his composure, rose up, and refrained from touching her further.

He pulled the quilt over her, and with heavy steps, exited the guest room.

The following morning, the sun had just begun to rise, heralding another scorching day.

Elias, eating breakfast at ho, called her again. After ringing for a long ti, it was finally answered, but not by her voice!

"Hello..." The man, phone in hand, walked to the living room, folding one arm across his chest, his voice deep in response.

Sialnce shut the man’s phone instantly, emanating a cold, sharp aura. It was morning now.

Why was her phone in that man’s hand?

Had they been together last night?

"Where’s Sumr?" he forced himself to stay calm and asked.

"She hasn’t woken up yet." Ian curled his lips, replied leisurely, rembering how the other had flaunted to him that morning.

"Put her on the phone."

Elias narrowed his eyes dangerously, summoned calmness, and demanded, doubting Sumr would involve with him, suspecting this could be the man’s deliberate retribution.

Trying to tear him and that woman apart?

If that man dared mistreat her last night, wouldn’t bla him for wanting the entire Summit to pay for it!

Ian didn’t expect him to speak so calmly, deliberately said ambiguously, "She’s not awake yet, call back later."

After saying this, he hung up. Soon, the phone rang again—

The familiar ringtone woke Sumr, blinking tired eyes, she surveyed the unfamiliar surroundings.

Sitting up abruptly on the bed, mories of going to find Ian at the bar last night beca clearer, "He didn’t take ho?"

"This... is his ho, isn’t it?"

Sumr quickly pulled off the quilt to inspect herself, her clothes intact, the faint scent of alcohol still lingered, reassuring her sowhat.

She got out of bed, walked to the living room, and saw him, her voice hoarse with displeasure, "My house is next door, why didn’t you take back?"

"It was too late, I didn’t want to disturb your mother’s rest, staying over at my place for a night is no big deal," Ian replied.

"I don’t feel comfortable in soone else’s house."

Sumr’s trust in him continued to wane, his actions with the cake deliveries that evening, and what happened last night, left her disappointed.

"But you’re comfortable at Elias’ house?" he asked with a teasing smile.

Sumr wanted to say, she and Elias were exes, used to being together, naturally she was comfortable.

"Elias called earlier, I picked up for you so it wouldn’t wake you," Ian inford, aware he couldn’t hide this matter from her anyway.

Would that man believe nothing happened between them the night before?

Would he abandon her?

Sumr frowned imdiately, asked in a serious tone, "Does he know I stayed here last night?"

"Yes." Ian replied nonchalantly, unconcerned about angering her, intent only on breaking them apart.

Suppressing her anger, she didn’t confront him, collected her things, and left his house, keyed in the passcode at her own door.

Just done washing up, Mrs. Nolan, seeing her daughter returned so early, seemingly unwashed, asked in surprise, "Where did you sleep last night?"

Looking at her mother, she didn’t hide, "Drank too much last night, Ian took to his place."

Mrs. Nolan frowned instantly, "Really now, so close, why didn’t he bring you back? Did he try anything last night?"

"He didn’t do anything to , I’m going to wash up," Sumr said to her mother, then returned to her room, not bothering to call Elias back to explain, they weren’t a couple now, was there a need to explain?

-

Elias intended to focus on work, yet felt frustrated, did she willingly go to find Ian last night?

Did she want to marry into the Sterling family?

His face darkened, as the conference room door opened, Sumr dressed smartly in a black suit, stepped in gracefully on high heels.

Her face bore no embarrassnt or haste, the sa as always when at work.

"Did you go to find Ian voluntarily last night?" Elias looked at her, holding back his anger as he asked.
