anwhile, Rosalind closed her eyes just as she finished absorbing what she needed to absorb. Her body felt refreshed, almost as if she had just woken up from a very nice beautiful dream. She took a deep breath before she opened her eyes and stared at the handso man before her.

"Better?" he asked.

"Way better," Rosalind smiled and held his hand.

"Here…," he handed her a short sword.

"This is?"

"Made from the black liquid," Lucas uttered. "Perhaps, it would co in useful one day."

Rosalind accepted it without hesitation. "Is there any other way to use the black liquid?"

He shook his head as they started walking inside the temple while avoiding the skeletons and so debris that had fallen from the ceiling. "These are the source of the demon's ability. With it, the demons are stronger. It is both a strength and a weakness. Aside from that, they are simply an inconvenience."

Rosalind nodded. She looked around at the pile of treasure. "What do you think would happen if I used my cursed blade and dipped it in the black liquid?" Rosalind could not help but wonder what would happen to a cursed object if dipped in another malevolent source.

Hearing this, he stopped walking and looked at her. "It would turn the blade into a weapon that you can control."

"Like the black liquid?"

"Yes," he nodded. "You can turn it into a long sword or a spear that could kill demons."

Rosalind frowned at that. She had plans, but sadly, not many people would wield a weapon created by this black liquid. By now, Rosalind understood that the reason why these demons were so confident in coming here was that they knew that humans could not wield this weapon. Moreover… the sorcerers in this place were getting lesser and weaker.

Even if sorcerers could try to wield it, there was no guarantee that they were strong enough to withstand its malevolence.

This alone ant that the fight against demons was dood to be a devastating one, sothing that could enslave humanity forever. Rosalind let out a sigh. The voice inside her head once asked her why she was doing this. Until now, she had delayed thinking about the reason why she was doing this. She did not want to think about it.

Right now, she just made a decision. Without saying another word, she walked towards the spot where the black liquid was, called out her cursed dagger, and dipped it in there. She watched as the liquid coated the dagger until it was completely coated.

Then she picked it up and used her will to control it, turning it into a long sword, then into a spear, and then into an arrow before turning it back into a dagger.

While doing this, she observed her body's reaction and knew that the liquid was not weakening or hurting her.

"Would you believe if I tell you that I have lived once?" she asked before she turned around and t his gaze. She did not know if it was the liquid or the sudden decision that she just made. "I do not know if it was a dream, a realistic one, or… if it was really sothing that happened. If I really lived a life and died and then went back in ti."

Lucas said nothing. He just stared at her, his expression unreadable.

"In that tiline…. I never married you. I— I married soone else. My sister, Dorothy— she beca the empress while you— you stayed in the north and we never t." Rosalind pursed her lips as mories of the past filled her head. "Perhaps it was simply a bad… bad dream." She snorted at her own thoughts.

How could a dream be so realistic? A part of her truly knew that it was not a dream but the other wanted her to believe it was.

"In that life… you never married ?" Lucas finally asked.

"I never thought that would be the first question that you would ask."

"Isn't that the most important one?" he retorted.

Almost imdiately, the atmosphere between them changed. For so reason, sothing heavy inside her slowly lifted. She gave him a wry smile. "I did marry you. We were— nothing but strangers."

"Then who did you marry?" he asked.

"Was it that important?"

"It is."

"It was Jeas Sinclair."

"Your sister's lover?" he asked.

"I never knew it at that ti," Rosalind said. "I was naive, you see?"

He frowned. "So— "

"When I knew, it was already too late and I— my life ended after that."

"Is this the reason why you imdiately wanted to co to the north?" he asked, lifting an eyebrow.

"No."

"Then?"

"It was because I knew that the Duke is strong and that he could protect ."

Lucas nodded nonchalantly as if that was the most important thing in her confession.

"Are you not going to ask about the future? Or what I have seen?" Isn't this the most logical thing to ask?

"Why would I?" he asked and took a step towards her, his long legs only took two steps and he was already standing in front of Rosalind, a smile plastered on his face. "In that life, you never married . I do not think it is a life worth talking about."

"…"

"This life, it is best that you just

stay by my side and do not look at other people." Lucas used his hand to tuck a loose strand of her hair. "In this life, you have . There is no need to worry about other matters."

"The demons are about to co," Rosalind smiled. "Are you not curious why I decided to tell you this?"

"Does it matter?" he retorted.

"Pardon?"

"I appreciate that you now trust enough to know about your past, but you telling sothing like this would never change the fact that I will always be here for you. The past belongs there for a reason." Lucas said. "You belong to now. Isn't that the most important matter?"

"…." Right. Of course, he is right.
