Fu Yuling worried that Fu Jichen might wake up at any mont, and then she wouldn’t be able to control him alone. Her fingers hooked the strap of her bag and pulled it over, then she took out a clear plastic-sealed bag with no labels from the inner compartnt. Inside were a few small white pills.

She took one out and threw it into a glass, unscrewed a bottle of purified water, and poured half of it in.

Fu Yuling held the glass and shook it a few tis. The pill quickly dissolved, and the clear water beca sowhat cloudy.

After thinking for a mont, she took out another pill and threw it in, resulting in a pale white liquid.

This was sothing she had gotten through soone else, and it wouldn’t harm the body.

Just like she repeatedly confird with the man who knocked Fu Jichen unconscious, asking if his blow would cause any injury to Fu Jichen. She didn’t want anything to happen to him.

She loved him.

Fu Yuling kneeled by the bed, gently pinched open Fu Jichen’s mouth, poured in two-thirds of the glass, spilling a third. Once the drug took effect, he would probably wake up.

Her heart was racing like never before, not just because a long-held wish was about to be fulfilled, but also due to nerves. She didn’t know what outco awaited her, and the fear of the unknown was most tornting.

No matter the result, having co this far, she couldn’t turn back now.

Fu Yuling put the empty glass back on the bedside table, took a tissue and wiped Fu Jichen’s lips with a sorrowful smile, "If only you could love , I wouldn’t have to go through all this trouble to get you."

At so point, tears rolled out from the corner of her eyes, sliding to her lips. Tasting the salty wetness, she realized she was crying. She raised her hand and gently wiped it away with the pad of her finger.

She wouldn’t cry; tears were a sign of weakness. She was the victor, she should be laughing.

Fu Yuling’s vision cleared, and at that mont, the person on the bed reacted, his tightly closed eyes slightly trembling, brows slightly furrowing, raising a hand to press on his temple.

Fu Jichen lifted his eyelids, and through the blurry vision, a woman’s face appeared, seemingly with double images, as if a fire was ignited within his body, burning away his rationality bit by bit.

He propped himself up at the head of the bed to sit up, and with the slightest movent, the fire within him blazed even stronger.

Fu Jichen hadn’t completely lost his mind. He rembered coming to this suite to find Fu Feibai, worried sothing might have happened to him. Who would’ve thought, the mont he ca in, he lost consciousness.

By the ti he woke up again, it was in this situation. Without much thought, he knew he had been set up.

Who had the audacity to dare lay a trap for him?

Fu Jichen shook his head, but he still couldn’t see the person in front of him clearly. He swallowed hard, his throat so dry it seed to catch fire, "Who?"

Fu Yuling didn’t know exactly how the drug would work, but from his reaction, she could roughly judge that his state was akin to being drunk, unable to see faces clearly.

She cupped his face, her voice extraordinarily gentle, "Who do you wish I were, Shen Jianian?" She curled her lips in self-mockery. She could even give up her dignity for him, "If you want to see as Shen Jianian, I can accept that, as long as you spare so pity."

The hand she placed on him felt like an antidote to Fu Jichen, who had drunk the substance, a longing for more. But Fu Jichen knew it was akin to drinking poison to quench his thirst. Once he lost control, what awaited him was a point of no return.

"Get out."

Fu Jichen flung her hand away, stumbling as he rolled off the bed. Just after slipping on his slippers, it felt like tens of thousands of ants were gnawing at his skin, itchy, painful, and burning hot.

He recognized the woman’s voice, and his flushed lips were scorching as fire, yet the words he spoke were chilling to the bone, "Fu Yuling, what madness are you on, courting death?"

Fu Yuling used to be deathly afraid of him, and she still was. Her heart pounded, enduring the discomfort from it, persuading herself not to fear or to rush. She had the whole night to be with him.

"I have gone mad, driven insane by you. You’ve long known Wei Ronghua isn’t your biological mother, haven’t you? We have no connection. I love you. I want to be with you, even if you just showed a little more care, I wouldn’t have gone this far. It’s your fault, Fu Jichen."

She called him by his full na, no longer using those two characters.

After Fu Yuling finished speaking, Fu Jichen’s hand ca down with a slap, "Do you know what you’re doing?"

Fu Yuling was hit, and her face turned to one side. He didn’t hold back, and her face burned painfully, extending to her ear, numbing with pain.

She covered the half of her face that was hit, tears streaking down as she looked at him with madness and obsession, roaring, "Of course I know! I don’t regret it!"

She took a deep breath and softened her voice: "Fu Jichen, you still have the strength to talk to now, but in a little while, you’ll be begging ."

Fu Jichen’s forehead was drenched in sweat, stumbling out of the bedroom. Relying on mory, he found the door to the suite, twisted the deadbolt, but couldn’t pull open the door.

Fu Yuling followed him out, watching his futile attempts to open the door. Leaning against the bedroom doorfra, tears hung at the corner of her eyes while a smile lingered at her lips: "It’s useless, it’s locked from the outside. I booked this whole floor, and specifically instructed that no staff would co up tonight."

The suite had double doors; she knew Fu Jichen wasn’t an ordinary person. After the man she hired left, she tied the door handles together with a chain, making it impossible to open from inside.

Fu Jichen turned around, leaning his back against the door. Tortured by the drugs, he could barely stand. Sweat covered his face and neck. He had unbuttoned and re-buttoned his shirt, now buttoned all the way to the top. Through tightly pressed lips, he forced out a few words: "Fu Yuling, open the door!"

Fu Yuling said, "I’ve waited so long for this day, how could I let you go."

His willpower was indeed unmatched; she had slipped two pills, yet he could still endure till now.

Fu Jichen felt the pockets on either side of his trousers, then turned back into the bedroom, attempting to find his phone. But he couldn’t see clearly, fumbling around was futile.

Fu Yuling ca in, seeing what he was doing, she laughed rcilessly and cruelly: "I threw your phone away."

Fu Jichen felt a murderous urge, he rushed to the bathroom. Before Fu Yuling could react, he locked the door behind him and turned on the shower, letting the cold water cascade over his head.

For a mont, the cold couldn’t ease the burning inside him; if anything, the fire seed to grow more intense.

Fu Yuling heard the rush of water from the bathroom and felt humiliated. He preferred cold showers over touching her? Did she an that little to him?

Fu Yuling banged on the bathroom glass door: "Fu Jichen, why do this, you won’t withstand it, open the door, I’ll help you."

Fu Jichen was soaking wet, realizing the cold water wasn’t enough. He turned on the faucet above the sink, filled it with water, and subrged his head completely inside.

Fu Yuling continued to knock on the door: "Fu Jichen, please open the door, stop torturing yourself."

Fu Jichen lingered in the cold water long enough to clear his mind sowhat. He wasn’t sure how long this clarity would last, perhaps not much longer before losing all rationality.

Choosing between waiting for death and finding a way out, he chose the latter. Opening the bathroom door, Fu Yuling’s face lit up: "You finally decided to..."

Before she could finish, her neck was seized.

Fu Jichen felt no pity, using all the strength he could muster: "Call soone to open the door!"

"I... won’t..." Fu Yuling mouthed, the grip on her throat tightening, she felt herself choking.

She had painstakingly taken this step, her goal unt, she wouldn’t give up.

She gambled that Fu Jichen wouldn’t strangle her.

Just wait a little longer, three minutes, maybe five, Fu Jichen would soon be unable to bear it, she just needed to hold out a little more.

"Fu Yuling, I’m not negotiating with you!" Fu Jichen’s wet hair clung to him, eyes blazing with a dark fury, like a death god from hell.

Fu Yuling’s brain was deprived of oxygen, clutching his wrists tightly, trying to make him release. She clenched her teeth with hatred: "Shen Jianian... that bitch... what’s so good about her..."

Fu Jichen flung her aside, throwing her to the ground.

Fu Yuling hit the floor painfully, slowly getting up, but before she could steady herself, Fu Jichen dragged her to a mirror: "Fu Yuling, look at your vile appearance, your filthy thoughts, how dare you compare yourself to her?"

Seeing her carefully grood skin and hair becoming disheveled in the mirror, she shook her head unwilling to face it: "It’s all Shen Jianian’s fault! If not for her, I wouldn’t be like this, it’s all her fault!"

Her ticulously plotted night was turning out like this, she was unwilling, desperately turning around, tightly hugging Fu Jichen’s waist, pleading through tears: "Shen Jianian is already dead, the woman you spoil now is just soone with the sa na who plays the cello just like her! If you like that, I can be like that too, I’m trying to change myself, becoming what you like, why won’t you give a chance."

Fu Jichen pushed her away, articulating each word slowly, shattering her pride: "You’re not even comparable to a strand of her hair, imitating her just disgusts ."

Fu Yuling covered her ears, screaming, his words were more cruel than killing her.

Fu Jichen staggered back a few steps, feeling more and more out of control over his body, cold showers no longer worked. He lunged for the bedside cabinet, found a glass, smashed it to the floor, and picked up a shard, slashing it across his arm without hesitation.
