A short chapter so I’ll try to post another one today..
Chapter 69
It was late at night.
Not a single star was shining. The lights of a running car were thrown in sharp relief against the black night.
The speedoter needle in the dashboard was trembling, indicating that the car was speeding dangerously. But Xu Ziqing was totally unconcerned.
She didn’t know where she was going, she didn’t know where she was at present.
The car was playing music at a deafening volu. The
engine was growling. At this ti, her phone rang.
The ringing of the phone could not be heard over the music. Xu Ziqing glanced at the mobile phone screen, she did not intend to answer, but the phone continued ringing. Finally, irritated, she turned the music down and answered the phone.
The mont she connected, the voice on the other side asked her worriedly , “ Where did you go ? Why are you not in the hotel?”
“ I just ca out for so air.”
“ Co back quickly. I am waiting for you outside the door of the suite.” Zhou Cheng was whispering to her, but his voice sounded very serious, “ I have sothing to tell you.”
“ I can already guess what you want to tell . I just wanted to teach her a lesson – why are you feeling bad ?”
Zhou Cheng was silent
Xu Ziqing imdiately realises her guess was correct. She snorted, “She has already caused so much harm, are you really going to scold for what I did to her?”
Finally, he sighed helplessly, “ You can’t be sure that it was Yan Liang who have the evidence to the police. And I believe that Yan Liang wouldn’t do that.”
This simple sentence further angered Xu Ziqing. She stopped the car, uttered a curse under her breath and growled at the handset, “ Saying anything now is useless. I have told her that actually she is an unknown...”
Suddenly, her car was hit.
Bang !
A car hit hers from the passenger side. It was a solid hit. Because of the impact, Xu Ziqing’s body crashed against the door and her phone fell to the floor.
The collision of tal against tal caused her ears to rings Xu Ziqing felt slightly dizzy. She touched her forehead – her forehead had hit the window and there was a little blood.
The call was still connected. On the other side, Zhou Cheng heard the sounds. Anxiously , he shouted at the other end, “Xiao Qing, Xiao Qing !!What happened ?”
XuZiqing was holding her forehead, she had no ti to retrieve the phone.
She was in pain but still conscious, she unlocked the seatbelt, and got off the car to see who crashed her car.
But just as she got off, a figure rushed towards her. Before she had the ti to respond, she was pushed against the car and he grabbed her throat.
In the hall of the street lights, Xu Ziqing finally looked up and could see the face of the person in front of her clearly. Shocked, she stared at him uncomprehendingly, “ Jiang..Jiang Yu Nan ?”
With his figure backlit by the street lights, his eyes were burning with a cold fla of pure rage.
Silently, he continued grabbing her throat. In a panic, Xu Ziqing tried to pull his arm off hers. But she couldn’t budge him.
Her face was flushed, her lips paled and gradually her resistance collapsed. Just as she thought she may faint, Jiang Yu Nan released her.
She fell to the ground and she desperately gulped down air.
A pair of shoes slowly ca into her field of vision.
On the ground, his shadow engulfed Xu Ziqing’s body.
His voice was ice cold, “ You should desperately pray that Yan Liang is part of your Xu family. Otherwise, the next ti I co back, my target will be miss Xu you – and your Xu family. “
“......” “...”
He squatted down to her.
He raised her chin, “ At that ti, my thods will be even more ruthless, I can promise you that.”
Aa he finished, he let go of her chin.
Xu Ziqing turned her face away.
Jiang Yu Nan stood up and left. A long ti after the footsteps disappeared in the distance, under the street lights, the woman continued to lean against the car.

When Yan Liang woke up with a headache on the next day, it was already three pm
Yan Liang used her palm to block the bright light as her eyes adjusted to it. She was on a soft bed.
She sat up on the bed, and bent down to see herself. She was in pyjamas. She could still sll the scent of alcohol on herself
Seeing that she had woken up, the servant pushed the door open and brought in a rich brunch.
Yan Liang had no appetite. She just picked up the glass to drink so water. Then she waved her hands signalling the servant to take away the rest.
The servant said “ Ok” and picked up the tray. Yan Liang sipped a bit of water, and felt a slight discomfort in her throat.
Then she suddenly thought of sothing and asked the servant, “ By the way..”
“......” “...”
“ Who dropped ho ?”
The servant looked at her, as if wondering what to say.
After a long ti, she finally said, “ It was Mr Lu..”
Yan Liang couldn’t help but frown when she heard the answer.
Although she was drunk to the point of unconsciousness, but when the man desperately kissed her, she had seen his eyes. She desperately tried to recall the mory, she could just rember a fuzzy outline...
The eyes were more like..

She shook her head hard, and instantly denied the idea.
The servant was still standing there, she finally decide to promise to Yan Liang, “ Please didn’t worry about it, we will not tell anyone.”
Yan Liang laughed and dismissed the servant with a wave of her hand.
The door silently closed as the servant left.
Yan Liang frowned as she got out of bed. She thought of finding her phone and placing a call.
When she heard the other side say hello, she suddenly did not know what to say.
The other side seed to be waiting for her to speak, but as she kept silent, he spoke..” Have you woken up?”, Lu Zheng softly asked.
It looked like he was the one who dropped her ho. Yan Liang wasn’t really sure if she was more relieved or more worried.
Confused for so ti, she finally spoke, “ I drank too much last night. In fact, I ..” suddenly she realised what had happened, and imdiately changed her tack,” I hope you forget whatever happened last night.”
“Oh?” Lu Zheng’s voice was mildly flippant, it seed he was in a good mood, “ can you specifically tell what are the things that happened last night I should forget ?”
Yan Liang’s thoughts were chaotic. She could not help but try to recall what happened last night in the closed space of the car. Apart from that desperate kiss, she could not rember anything..
Her head hurt..
After a long ti, she finally said, “ Whatever I told you last night.. please forget all that..”
This ti, lu Zheng on the other side of the phone also paused.
“ Deal?” He smiled. “ I will forget all that, but as compensation, you have to take out for dinner tonight. “
“I......”
She was still hesitant when lu Zheng sealed the deal,” I’ll pick you up after work.”

There was silence at the other end again. Lu Zheng spoke again. “ I have to go to another eting. You go back to sleep.”
Yan Liang thought she could not longer shirk and hung up the phone as well.
At the other end of the phone, in the Ming Court building, Lu Zheng’s secretary knocked on his door and entered the room to see him holding the phone with a thoughtful look.
The assistant knocked at the door again, and lu Zheng woke up from his daze.
“ Mr Lu, the eting is about to begin..”
Lu Zheng heard the reminder. At the sa ti , he realised that the phone he was holding was giving off a busy tone.
“ Mr Lu..”
Then suddenly he recovered his composure, gestured at his assistant to keep quiet, hung up the phone and dialled a number on his mobile phone.
The call connected after a couple of rings.
The other party did not speak.
Lu Zheng didn’t beat around the bush, he directly asked him,”Yesterday , late at night, you called to drop your wife ho. What exactly are you up to?”
“......” “...”
“......” “...”
“ If you want to get what you want most, then don’t ask anything, don’t ss up anything.”
Lu Zheng waited a long ti but this sad the only answer he received.
And the other side had already hung up the phone, leaving Lu Zheng to silently weigh his options.

Xu Ziqing was frequently summoned to the police station. So for Yan Liang , it wasn’t difficult to find her; she just went to the police station to wait for her.
But when Yan Liang reached the station, she was told that Xu Ziqing was in the hospital.
“ Why is she in the hospital ?”
In answer to her question, the police officer in charge of the case said, “ What do you think? I think she is looking for an excuse to hide from us.”
Yan Liang had the sa thought in her heart as the police officer when she went to the hospital. She didn’t think Xu Ziqing was genuinely hurt
The injury wasn’t very serious.
When Yan Liang reached the ward, Xu Ziqing was lying on the bed. Not sure whether she was sleeping or not, Yan Liang quietly ca out of the ward. Zhou Cheng was sitting on the bed. He got up when she saw Yan Liang co in.
“ How did she get hurt ?”
Zhou Cheng wasn’t very clear, “ She said she fell.”
