Chapter 95: Weapons Permit

Three days later, at 8 a.m., Chen Chuan changed into his student uniform and went with Cheng Zitong to Martial Valor University’s main hall.

The weapons permit’s examination committee’s office was located there. After all, the weapons permit test was only open to Martial Valor University students.

After Cheng Zitong brought Chen Chuan over, he filled out so docunts before placing his personal stamp on them. In around half an hour, Chen Chuan got his weapons permit.

Chen Chuan also found out that he was not the only one who had passed the assigned mission and gotten his weapons permit. Wu Han also received it.

Even though the mission was only reassigned to them because of Chen Chuan and he was the one who took down Fang Dawei and his gang, Wu Han had co back to fight. He caught Seventh and even killed him, which made him worthy of a weapons permit.

That was not all. Due to the university’s efforts, the examination committee also gave the deceased Liu Xin a weapons permit as a ans to comfort the deceased and those who would miss him dearly.

No problems arose during the process because Cheng Zitong had already dealt with all the necessary paperwork, so Chen Chuan only needed to co and receive his permit. When he was about to take it, an examination committee mber said that he wanted to gather all students who passed the test this ti to perform a permit presentation ceremony.

Cheng Zitong did not think it was appropriate and rejected the idea as Chen Chuan’s ntor, which greatly displeased the examination committee mber.

After they left the main hall, Cheng Zitong said, “Those ceremonies enhance the prestige of the examination committee mbers, but are a complete waste of ti for students like you. There’s no aning to it. You’re not their tools. You didn’t rely on them to get your weapons permit, so you can just ignore them.”

Chen Chuan nodded and took out the weapons permit from his pocket to examine it.

The permit was shaped like a silver business card. It looked like it was made of jade but also stone, since it weighed quite a bit. Chen Chuan could put it in a protective cover and bring it with him everywhere. It was the perfect size for his pocket. His student ID and na were carved onto the card in tiny font using seal script. It looked really elegant.

“Don’t underestimate the card. It’s made from special materials. You can’t damage it with ordinary weapons or firearms. There’s a joke going around that if you cover yourself with these permits, you’ll have a bullet-proof vest,” Cheng Zitong said.

I know the joke about covering yourself in dals, but I’ve never seen anyone covering themselves in permits, Chen Chuan thought.

“I’ll get you a protective cover later. You don’t need to carry it in Yangzhi City, since the Departnt of Administrative Affairs has a record of it, but if you ever get the chance to leave the city again, it’d be best to bring it with you. The governnt officials outside the city require so ti to verify docunts, and that’s quite troubleso,” Cheng Zitong said.

“What if I accidentally lose it?” Chen Chuan asked.

“You can pay to get another one made, but it won’t be from this material. It’ll just be a normal card. Even though the replacent will look like the original one, the inside will be completely different. That’s why there are people who take the risk to create counterfeit permits. I suggest keeping it safe. Not only does the card have sentintal value, but also practical significance,” Cheng Zitong replied.

“Got it,” Chen Chuan said and put the permit into his pocket. From today on, he could bring the Frost King Saber outside the campus.

After the two descended the stairs, they went back to the dorm.

“While the Frost King Saber is a great weapon, since you have a weapons permit, you should get a gun too. After all, a gun will always be more intimidating than any lee weapon.”

Chen Chuan agreed with this. Many people would not be scared if they saw soone draw a lee weapon, but they would be terrified if soone pointed a gun at them. He asked, “Mr. Cheng, do you have any recomndations for firearms?”

“As long as you have a weapons permit, you can buy a gun at any firearm manufacturer. The two best firearm manufacturers in the country right now are Enclosed Shore and Dragon’s Roar.

“The guns from Dragon’s Roar are on the more expensive side, since they provide high-quality guns to the powerful and the upper class. They also have an international market. They don’t really care about providing guns for those below the upper class. As for Enclosed Shore, they cooperate quite a lot with the military and have broad and refined gun lines. They’ve created many famous weapons, like the GD-Rifle and the Dev-15 Pistol.

“I suggest you buy a Halberd Pistol to practice. It costs less than two hundred devs, looks nice, and fires quickly. It’s also light.”

Chen Chuan did not know anything about firearms, so he decided to listen to Cheng Zitong and buy a basic gun to give it a try, but he did not know where he should buy one. After all, he had never seen any shop selling guns.

“You don’t have to look for it yourself. Have you forgotten what my job is? The university has its own channel to procure guns. I’ll get one for you later at cost price,” Cheng Zitong said with a grin.

Chen Chuan thanked him and asked, “Mr. Cheng, now that I’ve gotten the weapons permit, does that an that I can take the armor permit test?”

The protective suit had been of great help to him during his fight against Fang Dawei and his gang. It was the reason why he had been able to end the fight so quickly. If he had gone in without the protective suit and had to rely on his second self, he would have had to change his strategy.

“Yes. With the weapons permit, it’ll be much easier for you to get the armor permit. At the very least, clients always look for people like you. There’s another permit that’s of utmost importance, though that one will depend on whether you get the chance or not... I guess you should focus on getting the armor permit first. As for that permit... I think soone else will give you the details later.”

He patted Chen Chuan’s shoulder. “As for missions, be patient. It’s going to be the end of the month soon. I’ll get more missions for you next month.”

As they chatted with each other, they arrived at the Spring-Autumn Lake, where they parted ways. Before heading to the administrative office building, Cheng Zitong handed Chen Chuan so tickets.

“The university will organize a tournant among second-class students in the martial arts combat hall at the end of the year. This is open to the public, so you can invite your family to watch it.

“If you’re interested, you can watch it too. While the second-class students aren’t as strong as you are, you can learn quite a lot from the sophomores. After all, so of the outstanding ones managed to develop mutated tissue all on their own and even learned refined force.”

Chen Chuan put the tickets away. “Thank you, Mr. Cheng.”

Cheng Zitong gave him a grin and put on his sunglasses before waving him goodbye and heading to the administrative office building.

***

In the middle of the lecturer’s dorm area in Martial Valor University was a lake that was about the sa size as the Spring-Autumn Lake. The senior lecturers, like Ni Xiaolin, lived in chateaus around the lake. But there was a manor built at the center of the lake.

There was no path leading to the shore from the manor. Whenever anyone wanted to talk to the people in the manor, they had to row a boat there. It was secluded from the outside world.

At the mont, there was a man of an unknown age with sharp features and long eyes sitting on the sofa in the enclosed training hall. A python was curled up at his feet.

The man’s thin, long hair was combed back, and his lips were curled up slightly. His lean, powerful build was covered by a short-sleeve shirt and a pair of fitting leather pants that showed off his leg muscles.

In front of him was a student in a strange stance. He was in a lunge position on one leg, while his other knee was on the floor with the calf raised. His upper body was tilted back and twisted partially. His arms were behind him, as if he was holding a round ball. His fingertips touched each other, and the hole he ford between his hands was directly above the tip of his toes.

Yet even in this stance, he maintained a complex breathing rhythm. Ripples seed to be traveling through his muscles while sweat poured out of his skin. Soon, a large puddle gathered on the floor.

The man sat up straight and placed a hand on the armrest. After observing the student for a while, he said, “You can stop now.”

The student breathed in slowly before he twisted his body back, letting out lots of cracking sounds in the process. When standing straight, the student was over two ters tall. He had a well-proportioned body and short hair, while his uncovered torso showed off his toned muscles that seed to be alive. There was a faint glow coming off his skin.

The student rolled his neck and said, “I can still go on, Mr. Tan.”

Tan Wang, the student’s ntor, chuckled. “Staying in the stance longer won’t make you any better. Efficiency is key. You’ll only gain the stance’s benefits if you practice it for forty minutes a day. If you go past forty minutes, it won’t do anything besides letting you boast about your patience and flexibility.”

“How much longer do I have to train with it?” the student asked.

Tan Wang humd as he thought. “Half a year, I suppose. If you manage to master the stance in half a year, you’ll be worthy enough to co with

to Central City.”

“I still need half a year?” the student huffed impatiently.

Tan Wang slumped to the side and propped up his face with his hand while he placed his other elbow on the armrest. He also crossed his legs. “I don’t need to tell you about the competition in Central City. You know it yourself. Your family has already paid , so even if you don’t manage to master the stance in half a year, I’ll still take you to Central City. But do you think that you’ll be able to hold your own there?”

The student beca serious. “I’ll do it in half a year.”

“I hope so.” Tan Wang smiled.

The student turned to walk outside. “I’ll go shower.”

After a mont, a butler ca in with a tray in hand. It had a new martial arts uniform set, which he placed nearby.

Then, he brought over so newspapers and magazines with gorgeous, beautiful won on their covers that he placed in front of Tan Wang.

“Mr. Tan, these are the magazines and recent newspapers you requested. Would you like

to read them to you?” he asked respectfully.

“No need,” Tan Wang said.

He cast the pile a glance before pushing aside the magazines with the won to grab the newspapers. While he glanced through the articles, one from two days ago caught his eye, and his gaze lingered on it for a mont. He tapped his fingers against the armrest.

After so ti, he kicked away the python at his feet. The snake hissed before slithering out of the room. Soon, a handso, pale young man ca in.

“Your orders, Mr. Tan?” he asked with a bow.

Tan Wang flipped over the newspaper to show it to the young man and pointed at the article. “Find this Martial Valor University student and bring him to .”

“May I know the aning behind your request?” the young man asked tentatively.

“It’s nothing. I just want to know whether he’s really as described in the article. If he is, I might give him the right to go to Central City,” Mr. Tan said casually.

“Understood. I’ll tell him about your wishes, Mr. Tan,” the young man bowed deeply.
