Book 3, Chapter 153: Destroying The Enemies

Chen Chuan cast a glance at the snake brooch on the man’s lapel. It was the emblem of the Viper Order, which was among the groups the Resolution Departnt had told him to be wary of.

He had read through the groups’ information repeatedly and studied their fighting videos and records in depth.

He hadn’t done that just by himself either. He had discussed how to fight against each mber with the lecturers at Martial Valor University and how to end the fight quickly. They had co up with plans to specifically target their weaknesses.

The dead man was Jin Leihan from Froyban Isles, and he was a body hardening expert.

Mr. Bai had said, “Jin Leihan is a body hardening expert, so it’s practically impossible to take him out within a short ti. But there’s one way to win against him quickly.

“He practices the Iron Mountain Force. It’s the simplest body hardening-type refined force out there. It’s not easy to reach his level with this refined force, but he has a hard ti defending against yielding force, and he can’t use firm forces for long. Without being able to use both in harmony, he won’t ever beco a true master.

“When he attacks, he requires a short mont to gather all his refined force. If you break through it with a power greater than his at that mont, then all his mutated tissue will shatter. That’s only in theory, though. Even if you can indeed summon power greater than his, you will need to attack him at the mont he has charged his refined force to the fullest. Otherwise, you won’t achieve your goal.”

Chen Chuan stared at the dead lump on the ground. In order to take down Jin Leihan, he had released a modified biofield to give the impression that he was a great threat. It pushed Jin Leihan to react in an extre manner and gather all his strength.

At that mont, Chen Chuan overlapped with his second self, activated the Furnace Breathing Technique, and executed a Cloud Ripping Palm. It shattered the accumulated refined force in an instant and broke all of Jin Leihan’s bones.

But that wasn’t all. At this point, Jin Leihan was only heavily injured. To body hardening experts, this degree of injury wasn’t fatal. If they had enough blood essence, they could stand back up. So, Chen Chuan released his second wave of refined force, destroying his defenseless organs and brain tissue.

Jin Leihan then breathed his last.

To the others, Chen Chuan had only thrown a punch, and Jin Leihan was dead. The sight of it sent shock coursing through the mbers of the Viper Order who saw it.

The attack had actually been Chen Chuan’s strongest strike, and it was a combination of a biofield technique, the Furnace Breathing Technique, and overlapping with his second self.

That wasn’t all. Jin Leihan had also beco the first sacrifice for the ritual on his clothes, the effects of which were going to be activated for the rest of the fight.

When Sheng Hui saw the fight, he was shocked, and a single thought popped up in his mind.

Shit.

In their previous operations, they had always sent Jin Leihan as a vanguard to hold back the enemy and whittle down their stamina while they observed the enemy for their weakness. Then, the rest of them would gang up on the enemy. This strategy had always worked in the past.

It was so good, in fact, that they had never done any drills for their backup strategies. None of them thought that there was any need for it.

But now, their lack of practice was revealed, and they were going to fight on their own.

Sheng Hui was right. The mont he stopped, soone imdiately charged past him.

***

Chen Chuan examined the person charging at him in a black martial arts uniform. He had a hook-shaped nose, deep-set eyes, nimble movents, and a foreign-looking saber that was longer than the Frost King Saber.

Based on his appearance, Chen Chuan recognized him as Zhu Haiwu, one of the martial artists in charge of offense in the Viper Order. He was a mixed blood great at finding openings. He had to be thinking that after the fight with Jin Leihan, Chen Chuan needed ti to calm his breathing and adjust his refined force. Chen Chuan could also be badly injured, which would make this the perfect chance to attack him.

As Chen Chuan watched the approaching man, Mr. Zheng’s words echoed in his mind.

“He has a solid foundation with a saber, and his technique is outstanding. Overall, he’s pretty good. Still, if I had to fight him while free to let loose, I would break his saber within three attacks. At his current strength, no matter how many tis he fought against , I’d break his saber in three attacks.

“You want to know whether I could defeat him in one attack? Sure. But there’d be a price to pay for that.”

As Chen Chuan watched the saber coming at him, he moved back and drew the Frost King Saber from the sheath in the ground behind him. Just like Zhu Haiwu, he swung his saber.

If they were just trading blow for blow, Zhu Haiwu was bound to dodge the attack. He was unlikely to choose to fight head-on against Chen Chuan. After all, his side had the advantage of numbers. All Zhu Haiwu needed to do was hold Chen Chuan back and create a chance for the others.

Even if Chen Chuan had extraordinary speed and strength, due to the distance between them, Zhu Haiwu could react in ti and not die in one hit.

Right now, Chen Chuan wasn’t moving so fast that he could overpower First and Second Limit martial artists, unlike other Third Limit martial artists. He couldn’t be too fast when he wanted to be slower than his enemy. He had to give Zhu Haiwu the impression that he could kill him first.

Zhu Haiwu’s gaze sharpened. At that mont, he made his judgnt: His saber was going to cut into Chen Chuan first. So, he kept swinging it down straight at Chen Chuan’s neck.

But at that mont, Chen Chuan disappeared from his spot and appeared two paces away, at a place where his saber couldn’t reach.

The mont he noticed that things were about to go bad, Zhu Haiwu reacted quickly and summoned his refined force as he brought his wrists up. The swing turned into a thrust aid at Chen Chuan’s head.

But after doing this, he noticed that Chen Chuan was in his original position instead of two paces away. It was as if all that he had seen just now was a fignt of his imagination, and his pupils shrank.

Chen Chuan moved forward and let the tip of Zhu Haiwu’s saber graze past his shoulder while he swung the Frost King Saber twice. The saber flashed, and as they passed each other, Zhu Haiwu was cut into three.

Chen Chuan took two more steps before standing still and flicking the saber. Behind him, the two sections of Zhu Haiwu’s body and his head fell on the ground.

Then, Chen Chuan looked ahead and said, “Two.”

At the sa ti, his clothes and mask flashed.

After sacrificing Jin Leihan, the ritual activated and started distorting other people’s senses. Chen Chuan had used this to kill Zhu Haiwu without getting hurt.

Once another person was added to the ritual, one more effect kicked in. It was what he had prepared for his next opponent.

The ones who had been thinking about finding an opening stopped. Chen Chuan had killed a second person, and just like before, he had done it in one move. This situation was far beyond their expectations.

Even though they didn’t care whether their team mbers lived or died, they knew how strong they were. This made them wary and cautious, and they no longer rushed forward recklessly.

Chen Chuan fixed his gaze on the three people in front. The Viper Order was an organization with six Third Limit martial artists as the leaders. Of course, not all of them were great fighters. If he considered Jin Leihan as one of them, there were only about half of them who could be considered outstanding, while the others were average at best. What they had, however, was a specialty, and if they worked together and covered each other’s weaknesses, they made a formidable team.

Facing one Third Limit martial artist was completely different from facing two, which ant that the difficulty of the fight would spike up if he had to fight against multiple people. Chen Chuan would have to be several tis stronger than the other side to overpower them.

Even with his second self to absorb damage, Chen Chuan didn’t want to be in a situation where he had to fight against multiple Third Limit martial artists at once. It was better to create chances to fight them one-on-one and defeat them within the shortest amount of ti possible.

Standing to the left was Sheng Hui. He was a pretty decent martial artist and was the strategist of the Viper Order, though Chen Chuan was sure that it had been difficult for him to commandeer such a group.

The charming woman in the short dress was Xuan Quanfeng. She was a diocre martial artist, but she was their interrogation expert and doctor. As long as soone wasn’t dead, she could save them. She also seed to possess advanced biofield interference skills, which was why the Resolution Departnt had suggested taking her out first.

The last was a man with a unique appearance. He had a hunched back, and Chen Chuan couldn’t tell how old he was. The man’s arms were practically on the floor. His green protective gear covered sturdy, long muscles. His trapezoids were also so big that they looked like wings and made him look like a snake walking on two legs.

The man was Lao Han, the best fighter in the Viper Order, second only to their boss, and he was also the boss’ true confidant. He was the one who carried out most of the organization’s toughest missions.

The Resolution Departnt had wanted to gather a sizable team to take down the Viper Order and refused to launch their operation while even one mber was missing because they had been wary of Lao Han and Xu Xianwen, the boss.

While Chen Chuan was observing the three, he felt an elusive biofield contacting his own biofield. There was sothing within it that seed to want to confuse him and affect his mind.

Chen Chuan then rembered Jiang Tian’s words.

“Those skilled in using biofields are usually cautious but also reckless. On one hand, they’re absolutely fearless when they send their biofields crashing into their enemy’s. On the other hand, they don’t do anything until they figure out their enemy’s strength.

“Such people are usually very careful. The mont they notice sothing wrong, they focus on protecting themselves. That biofield expert in the Viper Order will do everything she can to protect herself, so she won’t be easy to kill.

“If you want to end the fight with her quickly, then you need to create an effect so strong that it will affect her mind when your biofields touch. It’s a hard task, but there’s a way to make it work.”

The mont he sensed their biofields touch, Chen Chuan whipped his gaze towards Xuan Quanfeng. At the sa ti, the ritual activated because of her biofield.

The ritual had the effect of improving a person’s senses and transcending their minds. The cultists used it to communicate with supernatural beings they worshiped. Hence, at that mont, Xuan Quanfeng saw sothing similar to what a Third Limit martial artist saw after taking special dicine, though it was even more ridiculous and bizarre. Because of it, she beca dazed for a mont.

Chen Chuan drew Lightning Shock and aid it at Xuan Quanfeng’s dazed and shocked face.

He pulled the trigger.

Bang!

A thunderous clap tore through the air, and half of Xuan Quanfeng’s head was blown to bits. The sound was so loud that it caused the leaves in the area to sway.

As Xuan Quanfeng’s corpse fell on the ground, smoke rose from Lightning Shock’s muzzle, and Chen Chuan said coolly, “Three.”
