Sean Knight took weapons out of his backpack and distributed them among the other three.

The others were no longer surprised by their boss’ ability to produce weapons at any given mont.

Each person took a pistol, checked the gun chanism, loaded the bullets, and secured them on their bodies.

After eating, everyone reorganized their equipnt to ensure maximum efficiency—backpacks close to the body, clothes tightened to not impede movent.

Then Elijah Hastings took the lead, with Lincoln Harrington covering the rear, Sean Knight and Douglas Cooper in the middle, advancing stealthily into the cave interior.

The mountain cave first extended straight ahead for about 20 ters before sloping downward into two forked paths.

Just over 10 ters into the cave entrance, the light had already dimd, and Elijah, who led the way, took out a high-powered flashlight, cautiously illuminating the shadows as he moved.

The cave was very quiet, devoid of any signs of living creatures. However, Sean’s nose was sensitive, and he faintly detected a stench.

"Boss, do we need to split up?"

"No, the four of us will move together." Sean felt an inexplicable danger in the cave and shook his head, choosing the left path first.

The left seed more dangerous to Sean.

Knowing the mountain harbored a tiger, yet opting to go toward Tiger Mountain. If the left side was more dangerous, then the missing Cheryl Suweton was more likely to be there.

Because there was no longer any trace of Cheryl in this area. Sean couldn’t figure out why Cheryl’s tracks would have vanished into thin air. However, they had to search this cave thoroughly before concluding anything.

Descending another 20 ters, they felt the temperature inside the cave rise significantly.

The material of the cave walls was listone, with stalactites hanging from the ceiling, dripping down one by one, filling the air with a foul odor.

Not long after, they encountered another fork in the road.

Still choosing the left; however, after walking roughly 50 ters, the passageway ca to an end.

Elijah, hugging the cave wall, could hear a rumbling sound inside.

"That should be a subterranean river inside; let’s not bother with it." Sean was sowhat helpless; even Sky Eye had its limits in range. He couldn’t foresee this would be a dead end.

Returning to the original fork, they headed into the right-side tunnel.

The path sloped downward to the right, turning and extending 40 to 50 ters before arriving at an underground river.

The river was not more than seven or eight ters wide, and the water was very murky. But Sean’s eyes were fixed on the stone wall across the river.

There was a crack in the stone wall. To Sean’s Sky Eye, it showed clear signs of passage.

The crack was just big enough for soone to squeeze through sideways, and Sean pointed to that location before taking the lead and stepping into the river.

At its deepest, the river reached his waist. After carrying his backpack across, Sean made his way towards the crack. Elijah and the others imdiately followed, with Elijah being the first to squeeze through the crevice ahead of Sean.

Sean was the second to enter, followed by Douglas, with Lincoln bringing up the rear.

The stone crevice was narrow, barely wide enough for the backpacks to fit through.

And there was a very unpleasant sll inside the crack.

Sean observed so dried-up, once gooey residue on the cave walls.

This prompted so unpleasant associations in his mind.

The crevice was about 20 ters long, and it took them a full 10 minutes to get completely through it.

The other side of the crack opened up into a wide space, easily the size of a basketball court, with the ceiling also about three ters above the ground.

The stench here was even more unbearable. Sean’s expression changed; he detected the sll of fish, rotting flesh, and other unidentifiable odors.

Elijah and the others also slled it, grasping the guns in their hands tightly as they slowly made their way towards the exit of the space.

The area resembled more of a hall, with the exit located on the right side of the crack. Through Sean’s Sky Eye vision, he could see human footprints on the ground, as well as tracks from so non-human creature.

The five-fingered imprints reminded Sean a bit of Gollum from "The Lord of the Rings."

There was still no light in the area. Beyond the hall’s exit lay a maze-like environnt akin to a karst cave system.

Under the light emitted from Elijah’s flashlight, certain spots on the cave walls shimred, revealing nurous gemstone roughs embedded in the stone.

Considering this place was once Volcano Island, that wasn’t too surprising.

However, treasure hunting wasn’t their current priority. Sean rely glanced at them before following Elijah with his attention, as Sky Eye peered deeper into the area.

Suddenly, within Sky Eye’s view, a dark figure flashed by!

To Sean’s surprise, the figure seed to be crawling across the ceiling before disappearing—this creature had a head and four limbs, but no hair on its head, and its limbs were long and thin. Because it moved too quickly, Sean couldn’t make out what "it" looked like.

Clearly, it didn’t seem to be a docile creature!

"Elijah, be careful! There are unknown creatures ahead!" Sean urgently warned, then quickly moved to Elijah’s side.

Lincoln and Douglas also promptly raised their guns, surveying their surroundings.

Although there was hardly any light everywhere, Sean was capable of seeing in the dark, and Elijah’s group had night vision far superior to ordinary people.

So, after Elijah turned off the flashlight, their vision was only sowhat affected, but they could still see reasonably well.

Looking around, they saw no creature in sight.

"Continue forward!" Sean spoke in a low voice, "It went inside—right, they’re above us, be careful!"

Hearing the warning about overhead danger, Elijah and the others were startled.

They were initially cautious about what lay ahead, even towards the lower front—if sothing ca swooping down from above, that would be hard to guard against!

After turning a few corners, the path narrowed, but the ceiling above them opened up considerably.

This irregular terrain heightened their alertness even more.

Suddenly, two dark figures rapidly approached from the distant ceiling, reaching near Sean and his group in an instant!

"Watch out!" Sean had seen movent in his Sky Eye and shouted out. Within three to five seconds after his warning, the two dark silhouettes had already swooped down from the ceiling, extending long claws toward Lincoln and Douglas on either side!

"Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!"

All four n fired their guns almost at the sa ti.
