"Oh! He is finally getting beaten! Eat that, Bastard!"
"As expected from the miracle boy! His achievent is not a coincidence at all!"
"Yeah! Open that mask, Bastard!"
"Show us your ugly face!"
The crowd cheered the mont they saw the handshake was made. Even though the words they uttered might sound a little bit too harsh, those were just playful banters after they got teased by the mysterious man the whole evening. Even the mysterious man himself could be heard chuckling at what they said, finding this to be quite amusing for him.
However, Sheva and Anna didn’t really care about that trivial matter. No, they stared at the man with their jaws dropped, feeling like their ears were trying to deceive them right now.
"Can you repeat what you just said?" It was Anna who broke the silence with a question. "I an, you said Irene, right? Does that an you know Sister Irene from Indonesia, or is the person that you are talking about another Irene?" She asked for confirmation. Sheva also stared at him intently, eager to find out the man’s true identity.
"Oh, you must be Anna, right? It seems that Irene has talked a lot about you as her successor. I didn’t notice that you are here." The man chuckled a little, apologizing to the girl quietly. This basically confird both teenagers’ guess that this man knew Irene quite well, so they beca more curious about him. "As for how I know her... Well, I was her coach during her ti at Webster, of course, I would keep in touch with her."
As he revealed the last information, the man finally revealed his identity. Under the expectant gazes of the spectators who wanted to know who the mysterious person was, the man started to unpeel all the accessories that covered his face one by one. From the hat, to the mask, and finally, the sunglasses, he revealed himself as an Asian man with a squarish face and a nice smile, and the mont he put his glasses on, Sheva imdiately narrowed his eyes, thinking that he recognized the man from sowhere.
"You are..." The boy frowned deeply, trying to recall any mory of the man. However, it wasn’t him who figured it out first, but a young man who seed to be quite a big fan of chess.
"You are Le Quang Liem!" The young man gasped, covering his mouth in shock. "You are the winner of the grandmaster section yesterday! Oh my god! I cannot believe that you are here, and I get to play against you! Damn! Can I have a photo with you?!"
The man’s reaction was enough to trigger a chain reaction here, as everyone suddenly started to push each other around to get a front seat in the photo session with Le Quang Liem. Hell, they even forgot that Sheva had just won a ga against that man a mont ago, now having their focus on the Vietnase guy imdiately.
’Tch, yeah, great. Now, I cannot even talk to him.’ Sheva clicked his tongue in annoyance, watching the guy getting trapped by the crazy crowd. Fortunately, he and Anna didn’t get caught in the middle of it, or they would’ve been squeezed out alive due to their small figures. ’Oh, well, whatever. System, I have won my ga, right? Just put the reward in my inventory first and check his stats for , okay?’ He muttered, curious about the man’s stats here.
[DING! The scan is successful!]
[Na: Le Quang Liem]
Attacking 94
Defense 92
Calculation 93
Strategy 92
Intuition 91
Ti managent 87
’Holy hell...’ Sheva whispered unconsciously, staring at the man’s stats in awe. ’And you tell that I just beat him a mont ago? What the hell is going on here?!’
Yeah, it was crazy to think about it. No wonder the man played so incredibly fast and accurately. It turned out that he was another super grandmaster here, and other than defense and ti managent, which weren’t that much different, Le Quang Liem’s stats were higher than Yu Yangyi’s. Hell, the balance of attack and defense showed that the man had no problem in any playing style, making it nearly impossible for anyone in this place to beat the man in a ga.
As for how Sheva managed to win earlier... Well, if he didn’t know about the man’s identity, the boy would like to brag that he was the better player here. However, after reading Le Quang Liem’s stats, he knew that he wasn’t at that level yet. So, the boy credited more than 70 percent of the win to luck, as he was currently in a good state, not even making a single mistake during the ga.
After waiting for a while, the crowd finally started to thin out, with most of the people leaving with a satisfied smile. They didn’t even care about Le Quang Liem, who looked haggard and had a stiff expression for being forced to smile all the ti, which sohow was enough to make Sheva and Anna giggle on the spot. The man seed to be embarrassed here before he finally introduced himself better.
"Sorry about that. It is quite disrespectful for them to swarm on when you are the one who wins the ga, but they are just a bunch of lovely folks." The man scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "Gosh, playing in such a shady appearance is so tiring! I am sweating right now!"
They had a sweat drop on their face, not expecting the man to be this nonchalant. Well, Sheva didn’t know about Anna, but he should’ve expected this to co. During his ti with Irene in Reykjavik, he heard more than once about the story of how easygoing Le Quang Liem was from Irene’s mouth, so this wasn’t that far away from the image in his head. It was just mindboggling to see it directly, so Sheva didn’t really know how to react here.
"So, what are you doing here, Mr. Liem?" In the end, it was Anna who asked the question.
"Oh, well, I am trying to unwind a little bit after an exhausting tournant, probably just like you guys did right now." The man shrugged. Then, a little smirk suddenly ford on his face as he added, "Also, I am still staying here so that I wouldn’t exhaust myself, because once again, just like you guys, I will have to fly to Chennai for the Olympiad next week. I am sure we will et quite often in the future, so let’s be friends, okay?"
