anwhile, on the other side of the venue, Anna took a deep breath, and a frown on her face couldn’t be hidden anymore as the girl had a really bad day right now. She ca here with the thought that Yu Yangyi would play solidly and waited for her to make a mistake first, just like how he did against dina, so the girl had never expected that the Chinese super GM would suddenly pull the aggressive line of the King’s Indian Defense out of nowhere.

’Why is he suddenly doing this to ?! What did I deserve to receive this treatnt?!’ The girl groaned inwardly, clicking her tongue in annoyance when she saw the stoic expression on her opponent’s face.

Indeed, the ga didn’t really go in the direction that Anna wanted, and she was so frustrated with it that if this were not a formal tournant, the girl would probably do sothing stupid here.

Honestly, it wasn’t as if Yu Yangyi did sothing different here. However, the King’s Indian defense was an opening that gave the white piece a lot of opportunities to push forward, so there was no way the Chinese GM would let that chance slide.

He managed to plant his pawn on the E5 square, luring Anna’s rook to his own territory, and even forcing the girl to put the bishop into a bad square. In the end, the pressure finally got inside her head, and the girl blundered sothing that should’ve been easy to avoid if only she had taken her ti to think. Anna let her opponent initiate the bishop exchange, and as a result, she had to take back the bishop with her G6 pawn, tearing down the wall that protected her king instantly.

Right after she did that, the evaluation bar moved up imdiately, showing that the advantage was on Yu Yangyi’s side.

’Stupid! Stupid! Why am I so stupid like this?!’ Inwardly, Anna berated herself for her hasty move, regretting what she had just done earlier. ’I should’ve been more patient... Why would I rush my way like this? I played like an idiot...’

Yeah, even though it was an exaggeration to say that she played like an idiot, the mistake that Anna made was so basic and could have been avoided by taking her ti to think carefully. After all, both players still spent 30 minutes of the total combined of 3 hours that the organizer provided for the entire ga, so patience was the key here.

Anna herself also knew about that. Hell, she wasn’t an amateur who had just learned how to play the ga. No, the girl could be considered a veteran right now, having been playing chess for more than five years. That was why this mistake was hard to forgive, as a player of her caliber should’ve never done that in the middle of such a crucial ga like this.

It was just... Anna panicked a little bit when she saw Yu Yangyi move so decisively, only taking one or two minutes for each move as if he knew exactly what he was doing here. Combined with the aggressiveness that the man showed in this ga, Anna was caught off guard, and in a panic move, she finally made a blunder.

It wasn’t a fatal one, per se. Yes, her position got worse, and yes, her king’s protection was pretty weak right now. However, overall, the girl was still in the ga, and as long as she could stabilize her position and keep her composure, there should be nothing wrong on her side.

Unfortunately, the blunder really disturbed her rhythm right now, and Anna couldn’t think clearly about what she should do.

’Yeah, Sheva is right. It is better not to notice the mistake I make rather than noticing it in the middle of the ga like this.’ The girl couldn’t help but smile bitterly, rembering sothing that Sheva spoke to her in the past. ’Now, I have to think for ten whole minutes for a simple rook move one square back! This is embarrassing!’

Yu Yangyi himself also noticed Anna’s current state, and the man was gentleman enough not to show any rcy in the middle of the ga, even if his opponent was just a girl. He chased her rook all over the board, forcing it to go back to her own territory while also getting his position improved simultaneously. The man really showcased his ability as a super grandmaster, shutting down all the routes for Anna to breathe and killing her slowly in her own area.

One hour passed quickly, and the situation kept getting worse for Anna’s side. His king was completely exposed on the open side, as if waiting to get slaughtered like a sacrificial lamb. Not only that, one of her rooks went too far into Yu Yangyi’s territory, and now, it couldn’t escape from the man’s clutch anymore. In the end, Anna had to sacrifice that piece for his bishop, and even though in the end, she forced him to get three pawns on the sa row, it was still not worth the rook-bishop exchange a mont ago.

Even though her position had already collapsed, Anna still didn’t want to resign. She had no hope of creating a miracle, but the girl didn’t want to go down without a fight. If anything, Anna wanted to create an impression that even though she lost, the girl was still a strong player worth rembering by Yu Yangyi.

She made several threatening moves, as if wanting to create a counterplay for Yu Yangyi’s ferocious attack. Unfortunately, the Chinese super GM was too strong here, calculating every possible route for Anna to escape before infiltrating her king’s defense with just a re pawn and a queen. The combination of those two pieces turned out to be deadly, especially when they were so close to the promotion square.

Now, Anna only had two choices: lying down helplessly to get checkmated by her opponent or sacrificing her rook to escape from this situation, which would still lead her into getting checkmated in the next few moves. The second choice was just an option that could prolong her life, not create a miracle.

Having seen those choices and recognizing where those two roads would lead her, Anna finally let out a deep sigh, going for the third option here.

She resigned, giving Yu Yangyi the second win in a row against the Indonesian players in this tournant.
