Uyon looked at Theron, then at Aya, and then back to Theron. But Theron was only smiling. He had seed to be "embarrassed," but it was clear he wanted to know the answer more than anything else.

Theron had always been a curious person. It was why he liked to read so much. But inside him was also a person who was a bit stubborn about certain things, naly not being able to figure sothing out.

He couldn’t for the life of him understand the floating horn situation of many of the people in this city. That curiosity had only gotten stronger after his battle with Urong.

Sohow, Urong felt so very human, and yet he was clearly not entirely so. Theron’s senses never deceived him, and he was fairly sure of his assessnt of things.

"This is probably not sothing you want anyway," Aya was the one to act. "But if you did, you could change right now if you want."

After these words, Theron had mostly understood.

"A technique?"

"A very rare Body Cultivation Technique of the Demon Corps. Its Grade and abilities are passed down based on the Corps you join. This is a Duke Corps, Duke Corps Illusive Grey, to be specific."

"What does it do?"

"Well, I’ve never seen the Illusive Grey Demon Technique. I should be asking you," Aya replied.

"Is that so?" Theron thought for a mont, but just as he was about to act, there was a rush of wind before him as Yonwei appeared.

"Duke, sir, the Illusive Grey Legacy of our Demon Corps has been stolen by Chosen Sbury."

"Chosen?" Theron chuckled. "I don’t rember giving them such a Title."

Yonwei suddenly felt a shiver down her spine.

"This is the first and final warning I will give you. If you can’t understand what I’m saying, you don’t need to stay alive."

"Yes!" Yonwei hurried to say, then she vanished.

What a joke. The gap between the fourth Chosen and the first was enormous. Yonwei had been on her own level compared to the others. How could this Sbury possibly steal sothing right out from under her nose? And unlike Theron, she knew that the technique was probably the most valuable thing in the entire city. Her first thought would have been about protecting it if she was serious about serving.

But she hadn’t.

But Theron decided to let it go. He would give her one more chance—first, because he was more llow than usual; second, because she was actually quite useful; and last, because this had actually been an attempt to probe him.

If she was serious about trying to steal the technique for herself, then she wouldn’t have co to tell him so soon. In reality, what she wanted was an understanding of Theron.

Sure, she knew that Theron was powerful, but she didn’t know how his mind worked. Was he intelligent? Was he lustful? Could he be easily manipulated?

She hadn’t quite concluded whether he was lustful or not, since Aya was here and she was far more beautiful than herself. So long as Theron wasn’t a rabid dog, he wouldn’t respond to her advances while Aya was right here.

But just now, she had certainly concluded that Theron was no fool. In fact, he was impossibly sharp.

In that mont, she gave up any idea of trying to play gas in the background. Hopefully, Theron was more amiable to being seduced when Aya wasn’t right here. Otherwise, her future would be very bleak compared to what she had once been promised.

...

It wasn’t long before Yonwei returned. In one hand she held the head that bled profusely from the neck, and in the other she had a small orb that looked like it was storing rotating grey clouds.

Quickly, she handed the orb over to Theron. It seed that this Fourth Chosen wouldn’t be a problem to consider after all.

Theron looked at the orb in his hand. Honestly, he wasn’t very interested in it at all. He already had the body of a beast; he didn’t need to change himself to try and gain such a thing.

Also... he hadn’t been very impressed by Urong’s body at all. His eyes couldn’t keep up with Theron’s movents at all, and he had taken a step back after Theron punched him. Though he hadn’t been trying then, a truly powerful Transcendent body wouldn’t have flinched at all.

"When you—" Aya started.

"You can only pick one, I’m guessing," Theron finished her thoughts, looking at her suspicious lack of horns.

"That’s right." She nodded.

"Mm." Theron was about to take a look anyway when Aya stopped him again.

"No. You shouldn’t even look at it. It will alter your mind, and you might even feel compelled to read its contents. Once you read, the cultivation and corruption will begin, and there will be no escaping it. It’s best to wait."

"Oh?" Theron raised an eyebrow. He honestly still planned to check, but he would do that later since he didn’t want to have to reveal everything about himself.

Was he sure that he had a thod of avoiding this? No. But the way Aya described it, it was certainly a matter of the soul, and with the Primordial Earth along with the Angel and Demon Doctrines, he didn’t fear anything of the sort.

At least not at a Duke Level of threat.

"In that case, I’ll ask a different question." Theron pointed toward Uyon’s horns once again. "Those horns, and this Illusive Grey, are not related at all. Their auras are different, the presence is not remotely the sa. So where did it co from?"

Aya’s expression darkened, but she didn’t seem to be angry with Theron. As for Uyon, he sighed.

"I was once the manservant of a Demon King. Or, rather, Demon Queen. From the ti she was a toddler to just a few years ago, I took great care of Aya at the behest of her mother. I was allowed to peek at the Obsidian Rose Corps’ Inheritance as a result."

Theron raised an eyebrow, feeling like there was more to this story. But... he chose to let it go. He could only press for such details so much.
