Aya drove a forearm into Theron’s throat, her knee uncomfortably close to a very sensitive area. She glared right into Theron’s eyes, the coldness she was radiating almost enough to make soone think that she was actually an Ice Mancer.
In truth, Theron wasn’t 100% certain of what Aya’s Mancy Path was. He believed she was a Flux Mancer, but he had never actually seen her use Flux Mana. Even now, with his senses, it was hard to detect.
"What are you trying to get into? This wasn’t the plan. This is spiraling out of control."
Theron chuckled, not fighting back against her hold on him.
"This was always the plan. I told you pretty clearly that we were going to crash a wedding. If we want to gather everyone we need in one place, this was always going to be the only way. How else are you going to get what you need for your mission?"
"The Chron Clan wasn’t involved in the information I gave you," she said coldly.
"That’s true. But you saw what happened just now. Whether we want them to be involved or not, it’s going to happen. And with how much all of these families and organizations want a piece of the Resistance Army, do you think that the Chron Clan has no idea what’s happening? One way or another, they’re involved. We just don’t know exactly how much."
"That doesn’t an we have to antagonize them. And that’s exactly what you’ve done."
"Correct if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure you had every intention of killing those two, didn’t you?"
"Whether or not I did is no business of yours, since I had every intention of also not leaving a trace that could be followed. What do we gain by being everyone’s target? We probably can’t even easily leave the city right now."
"Think about it for a mont," Theron said after a while, realizing that it wasn’t clicking for her. For so reason, she was more angry than logical right now, sothing he didn’t quite expect from her.
He didn’t know why that was. The books on biology he had read gave him a potential answer, but as far as he knew, cultivators were far less prone to such things than others.
So instead of teasing her again, he chose to actually answer.
"Think about what?" she said coldly.
Theron raised an eyebrow. She still didn’t get it? Did he overestimate her?
"Blen," Theron said. "You said he ca from an exceptionally powerful Clan outside of the galaxy, did you not? Didn’t your information also tell you that he has had a hard ti trying to return ho because there’s no easy transportation back?
"What better Clan would be in position to help him return than the Chron Clan? In fact, those two Resistance Army idiots were from powerful Clans, but have you heard of their Clans?
"The reach of the Chron Clan is wide enough that they do reach outside of this galaxy. They might be a small family, but their dominion over Space Mana makes them not only extrely powerful, but an unimaginably strong strategic resource.
"So why would soone with so much personal power and access not be able to return ho?
"The only explanation is either they didn’t want to, or they couldn’t. But we’ve already established that there was, indeed, a path for them to return. And if they couldn’t, then that would an that they had a falling out with the Chron Clan for so reason.
"Now how would that have happened?"
Aya’s pressure on Theron’s neck slowly loosened as she ca to an understanding.
"You an to say that you think he’s either been biding his ti, waiting for an opportunity, or that the Chron Clan is already so heavily involved that it would be impossible to do this without alerting them one way or another."
Theron smiled again. "That answer is going to be obvious enough after we go to this wedding, and now we have an excuse to do exactly that. Two birds with one stone."
"But if the Chron Clan is heavily involved, the people they send..."
"Will be manageable. They won’t want to alert others if they don’t have to. And right now, their numbers are their greatest weakness. There are too few of them, and they play too key a role in the Resistance Army.
"If they do send soone powerful, it will likely be just one. But it’s more likely that they won’t send anyone outside of who they would normally send to a ceremony like this one."
"And how are you so sure that everything will happen at this wedding?"
"Well, why else would they send their young miss to seduce Chen?"
Aya’s gaze flickered. "Alright."
Finally, she took a step back, but instead, an arm caught her slender waist, keeping her close.
Aya’s gaze flashed with a dense cold light. "What do you think you’re doing?"
"You know, I was confused for a bit just now. You don’t trust , do you?"
Aya’s eyes flickered with a peculiar light as though to say obviously. But then she seed to rember that her waist was still in a strange man’s arm, and that very sa gaze beca steely again.
"Well, of course, that’s natural. But what I an to say is that you think I have what you’re looking for already and I’m just leading you by the nose—you just don’t have confirmation yet. But rest assured, even if I did have such a thing, you’ll still get what you want out of this."
Aya’s eyes narrowed.
"But in the anti, we can have so fun if you’d like."
Aya’s expression didn’t change. Rembering Theron’s ntion of her sex wall, she knew why he was saying this. And yet... her reaction was unexpected.
"Your facade works well enough on other people, but I can see right through you. Even if I gave you an opportunity, would you even dare to take it?"
