Theron had only subtly sent out his Third Eye just now, just as an attempt to establish so line of communication with the Nightingale Ancestor Bird, but the result was completely outside of his expectations.
Usually, when he used his Third Eye, it felt like he was invading the world around him, trying to impose the Will of his Soul onto it. But this ti, it sohow felt like the opposite. It was like the world was trying to encroach onto his territory, and he had to fight back against it.
Even though he hadn’t displayed his Third Eye to the greatest extent he could just now, he knew for a fact that its range had decreased considerably. In fact, it had probably decreased by a full 90% or even more.
He went from being able to cover hundreds of kiloters with his Third Eye, to only being capable of a handful of kiloters if he truly went all out.
No, it was probably worse than that. That wasn’t a range that he could keep up comfortably. If he wanted to avoid completely draining his soul and leaving himself stranded, he would only be able to use it for up to around a hundred or two hundred ters at most.
What the hell happened to him?
The visceral reaction of anyone to sothing like this was to believe that they had been screwed over. But Theron was less focused on the shrinking of his Third Eye range and far more focused on that feeling of reversal.
These tiny details were things that others might overlook, but to Theron, the little details were often the difference between life and death. He had always been ticulous about the details, almost maniacal in how much information he gathered.
Whether it was his Mana, his Mandates, or other related abilities, he often tried to turn them inside out to understand their intricacies in ways others might not think of.
That was why he felt the difference so innately.
What was the difference between a Third Eye that imposed itself onto the world versus one that felt the world was imposing itself onto it?
Theron’s eyes narrowed.
’This changes... everything.’
Theron closed his eyes for a mont, raised a finger, and then slashed it across the air.
[Shadow Dagger].
An arc of darkness flashed across the space, sparkling with faint edges of gold before vanishing as Theron’s finger ca to a stop.
He opened his eyes, his gaze flickering.
’Consummate Mastery.’
[Shadow Dagger] was a Spell Theron had only just learned, and that wasn’t even the way to cast it. As a Spell, it was a long-ranged thod and ant to be used as such. Attaching it to his finger and drawing it across the air wasn’t possible unless it was being launched. Until the attack was actually levied, its main abilities wouldn’t trigger.
But Theron had managed to attach it to himself and trigger its main abilities at the sa ti. This should only be possible if he had mastered the ins and outs of the Spell completely and went a step further, changing its very foundation...
Sothing you could only do at Consummate Mastery.
Theron had drilled all 19 of his new Spells in his mind already. He believed that so long as he cast them a few tis in reality, it would only take him a very short ti to improve them to Adept, and right now, they should be at Proficient.
However... they were still a ways away from Consummate. It would take a situation in battle and a few bouts of enlightennt before Theron could get them there.
Gold Spells were orders of magnitude more complex than Silver Spells, let alone Bronze Spells.
In addition, this world’s Spells seed more complex than what Theron was used to in Sadie’s inner world as well, likely because they had to be.
In Sadie’s world, there was a cap at Quasi Cloud Realm strength. As such, the Laws of the world were weaker and thus allowed for easier deploynt of Spells. Because of this, techniques didn’t beco a huge part of their thodology of battle.
However, in these worlds, while the individual peaks of worlds could vary, the lowest Theron had ever seen was the Nightingale World that still had a cap exceeding the Cloud Realm, at the Do of Heaven Realm.
The gap between these two things couldn’t be understated.
However... therein lay the secret.
This new Third Eye... it was like creating a new ntal space around Theron. The reason it felt like the world was encroaching onto it was because it was like Theron was walking around with a world of his own in his mind.
The concept was absolutely mind-boggling, the sort of thing that wasn’t normal in the slightest.
If Theron was correct, this sort of ability was probably tied to a Realm even beyond the Do of Heaven Realm, but sohow he had gained it now...
Because of the field?
Theron couldn’t exactly say that his power had increased tenfold—he didn’t believe it was that exaggerated, especially since in exchange for this, his Third Eye was under significantly more pressure and its range had beco extrely limited.
This also didn’t allow him to just instantly cast any Spell at Consummate Mastery. He was only able to do this because he had laid a foundation for these Spells already.
That said...
His strength had definitely increased by at least 20% just now, and while he couldn’t instantly raise any Spell to Consummate Mastery, he had certainly gained the ability to improve them far quicker.
The number of details he could micromanage with a Third Eye like this... it was unfathomable.
This field... whatever it was... was absolutely perfect for him.
And now he understood a bit more about why Chen was carrying it. This field was for him—it had always been for him.
The trouble was that he couldn’t absorb it yet, not until they got their hands on the pill. His soul couldn’t withstand it.
It was just like Theron had deduced.
