Capítulo 604: Pay

Theron stepped off of the ship, taking a deep breath.

The others shivered, but he felt a deep comfort down to the depths of his bones. It had been too long since he had been on a world with a substantial concentration of Water Mana.

Of course, Planet Ice and Heart was actually far more Ice Mana than it was Water, but the undertones of Water Mana were certainly there. Plus, given Theron’s control over certain Laws, it was all too easy for him to convert Ice Mana to Water Mana and back.

In theory, he had no control over Ice Mana. In practice, though? He had any number of ways to manipulate it, just like he could exert so control over Mist Mana to a limited extent.

Though, he had a feeling that the current him could control Mist Mana to a far greater extent than he could in the past.

Lyra inadvertently took a step toward Theron, feeling like she was about to freeze to death.

“Cold?” Theron asked with a chuckle.

“Aren’t you?!” Lyra asked in protest.

Theron raised a palm and flared it outward. All of a sudden, the cold around Lyra almost vanished. While it wasn’t exactly warm, she found herself exhaling and feeling quite relaxed.

“How did you do that?” she blinked in surprise. “I thought you were a Water Mancer.”

“I am,” Theron chuckled. “But to explain it to you would require you to understand how Water Mana works. Water’s specific heat is pretty high, so it can store quite a bit of energy. If you reverse that logic, it has to lose quite a bit of heat to chill too. So—”

Lyra held up a hand. “Never mind.”

Theron only smiled in response.

The group was brought forward, a youth with a sharp expression and robes of blue and white coming to stand before them.

“Those participating in the gathering and spectators will be separated,” he said, speaking generally to the elders and Matriarch as though he couldn’t be bothered to figure out which of them was in charge.

Matriarch Macie looked back. “You few go forward.”

Theron, along with six other Core Disciples including Lyra, Blackmaul, and Kaelen, stepped forward.

“Wait.” The young man spoke with a frown, his gaze landing on Theron. No matter how little attention he was paying, he would notice a Silver Mancer amidst a group of Gold Mancers. “First, this is way too many people. Your Nightingale Sect had their quota reduced. At best, you get three people. Second, why is there a Silver Mancer here?”

Matriarch Macie frowned. “We were not inford that our quota was reduced.”

“Well, I’m telling you now, aren’t I? And I’m the one asking questions here.”

Macie’s gaze sharpened, and the young man felt a jolt of danger, but that only lasted for the briefest instant before he sneered.

“I would advise you to control your temper, woman. This is the Hall of Ice and Heart, not your backwoods Sect. Tell this Silver Mancer to scram—”

BANG.

Theron’s foot landed on the youth’s chest. Everything practically played out in slow motion in his eyes, the sound of the Ice and Heart disciple’s bones deforming echoing in his ears.

Silence fell over the region. Several Sects—both those that had co with them and those that ca from other regions—looked over toward the sudden commotion.

Matriarch Macie’s pupils constricted. Was Theron really such a loose cannon?

But inwardly, she couldn’t help but find that she was quite satisfied with the result, a sadistic streak within her pulsing awake. Tendrils of dark fog manifested from her eyes, and sothing snapped within her. Inexplicably, her cultivation progressed again.

Theron didn’t look back, but he felt it more acutely than anyone else.

He had thought that Matriarch Macie was in the First Ascended Cloud Realm, but he was actually wrong. She had hidden her cultivation too well. She had been in the Second Ascended Cloud Realm, and just now she reached the Third.

How had she crossed three Cloud Realms in just three months?

No… the ti fra was probably even shorter than that.

Sothing told him that Matriarch Macie was certainly a part of this puzzle he was trying to piece together. Exactly how, he didn’t know. But it would reveal itself soon.

Theron stepped forward and appeared before the Hall of Ice and Heart disciple, bending down and picking him up by his collar.

The young man was only around his age, but he was already in the Fifth Gold Resonance. It was no wonder he didn’t take anyone from the Nightingale Sect seriously.

The geniuses here were on another level entirely. Anyone around Blackmaul’s age here would certainly have long been in the Cloud Realm.

However, it was one thing to be arrogant in front of a normal Silver Mancer. To be arrogant in front of Theron, though? Now that was quite foolish.

“Tell ,” Theron began after smacking the young man awake, “what punishnt would your Sect give you for lying? Hm? A quota change without first alerting the Matriarch? And now you’re adding rules? Since when did the gathering have a cultivation bar to reach? Wasn’t it just age? Or is it that you think yourself great enough to unilaterally decide things on your own?”

The other Hall of Ice and Heart disciples leading the other Sects looked over with bulging eyes. Their first instinct was to rush over, but Theron was far too strong. Instead, they all contacted their superiors, alerting them of a problem.

“He’s a fucking loose cannon,” Tyran said under his breath from the group of rcenaries.

“Have you ever seen a Silver Mancer take out a Gold Mancer like that?” Rauther asked.

Silence fell over all of them.

“Hm? Not speaking?” Theron cut off the thoughts of everyone by asking the young man another question. “Nothing to say?”

Blood leaked from the boy’s mouth.

“You’ll… pay for this…”

The words had only just co out when a powerful aura ca from a distance, streaking across the skies.

A Cloud Realm expert.
