Theron grunted, the strength of the palm sending him flying over the abyss. However, just as he was about to plumt, the chain on his foot caught him, swinging him in an arc toward the cliff face again.

Karra grunted, cradling her wrist. It felt like that one strike had almost snapped her arm. She didn’t know what sort of inner armor Theron was wearing, but it felt more powerful than any one she had ever laid hands on. It had no give at all, and normally that would an that all of the power would radiate to the one wearing it. But sohow, that didn’t happen.

In fact, it felt more like Theron had jumped back than anything else.

BANG!

Theron’s body slamd against the cliff face again, his breathing haggard and uneven.

His mind was swirling with thoughts, but none were more pressing than the explosions of the chains. These chains were tough and sturdy; if destroying them was so easy, he would have already done so. So how had they just exploded like that?

The fact that one of them was still left was highly inconvenient. There was no easy way to escape because of it.

’Soul Mancer? But why doesn’t it feel like that...’

It was odd. If Gian was a Soul Mancer, that was fine enough. But the chains were the old assassin’s, not Gian’s.

It was theoretically possible for a Soul Mancer to forcefully take over the treasures of another, but it would certainly be an unconventional path because the forceful takeover of things was more so a—

’Spirit Mancer.’

Theron’s eyes beca laced with a frigid cold; an exhale caused an icy tinge to spread over the chain links. However, just as quickly as it manifested, it shattered even more quickly.

Theron’s gaze dimd, his expression growing hard to read and completely indifferent.

With a flex of his leg, he flipped himself up. Grabbing onto the wall, he slowly made his way up.

"You really are taking your sweet ti," Gian chuckled. "Should I torture your wife a bit?"

Gian reached down, patting Malaya’s head, but Theron didn’t react in the slightest. His pace remained the sa, his gaze maintaining its shade of icy blue.

Finally, he stepped onto the peak of the mountain once again, the howling winds picking up and shifting the dense fog around.

"Ah, ah, ah, you’re really—"

Karra moved again, her fists tightening as two water shields ford behind her wrists and the backs of her hands. She raised them as though hovering gauntlets, their bodies solidifying and weighing heavy as she swung down.

Seemingly learning her lesson from the last exchange, she changed her approach.

BANG!

Theron grunted, his body not moving like he wanted. After his breakthrough, the inner armor he wore had beco several tis heavier. That much was fine when he was in tip-top condition, but when his body was barely being held together by thoughts, hopes, and dreams, he was worse than ek. He was a broken shell of himself.

He tried to sidestep and parry with a palm slamming down at her water shield, but he was slow. The shield instead slamd against his chest before he could, glancing a blow while his palm, still in the air, was a half-beat slow.

His body was forcefully twisted, but he didn’t have the energy to stop himself and take advantage.

He spun thrice before he got a hold of himself. By then, a second attack was already coming— even swifter than the first.

It bore down on his head, a vicious uppercut from the glinting edge of a heavy water shield.

"How exciting, what a battle!" Gian comnted.

Theron grunted, leaning back as far as he could. He was lucky to dodge, but his control over his body was simply too limited. Dodging was one thing; stopping himself from falling back was another.

He was falling too fast, his body slamming toward the ground at high speeds.

Karra, a seasoned warrior, would never miss such an opportunity. Her swinging fist turned to a downward stroke, her water shield becoming a curved bar that slamd toward Theron’s torso with no other purpose than to pin him to the ground.

Twisting her body, she gathered her montum toward her other fist, looking to take his head off.

She didn’t know what would happen after she killed Theron, but what she knew for sure was that if she held back, these Divine Realm experts with nothing to lose and not a care in the world would certainly kill her.

Or worse yet, they would use her as a hostage to deal with her father.

What she needed was a chance—a chance that would appear so long as she went all out and they thought she was following their words and directions to the best of her ability.

Only when they thought she was the most docile, only when they had lowered their guards the most, could she have a chance to escape through this endless fog.

And unfortunately for Theron—whoever he was—he would have to be the collateral.

But right then, the situation changed. All of her montum was forward and the battle was as good as over. When Theron was pinned, he wouldn’t be able to stop her at all.

The semi-loop of water would weigh hundreds of thousands of jin, all concentrated into such a small region. There was no way he would be able to escape.

But what would happen if she suddenly lost control over the Water Mana she was so confident in?

BANG! BANG!

The two loops of Water Mana in her control were suddenly severed as a charred foot slamd into her belt and belly button.

Her body, already prone and angled forward to slam down a final attack, was sent flailing up and over Theron’s shoulder.

In the sa motion, Theron was already flipping back, sorsaulting over his own head in the sa direction Karra was going.

With a deft movent of his ankle and leg, the chain caught Karra’s neck.

BANG!

Theron landed on his feet, one placed to the side of Karra’s chest and the other firmly pressing down on her cheek. As for the latter foot, it happened to be the one with the chain around it—the very sa chain that was likewise around Karra’s neck as well.
