The situation in the Black Clan was about what Scholar Mcintyre expected. The mont news of what happened to the Nightingale Empire was disseminated, Patriarch Black found himself staring out into space, fury between his brows.
He could sense that sothing was wrong. If the guild really wanted to just provoke them like this again and again, they would have done more the day they went.
There was another angle to view things, and that was that their timing had simply been too perfect in catching them off guard so there was nothing that they could have done at the ti. But there was still sothing that just felt...
Off about it.
"Father, the elders have told to pass sothing on to you. It seems that the Seijin have had movent." Karra quickly made it to her father’s side. One would never have thought that re days ago, she had been through a series of such intense battles at all.
"The Seijin? To where?"
"... The Nightingale Empire," she said slowly.
"What?"
Patriarch Black’s expression beca gloomy. This wasn’t the first ti. It was the second ti the Seijin were ssing in the affairs of his territory.
Did everyone really take the Black Clan as so upstarts that could be kneaded at their leisure?
"Who?"
"... Garethon."
This ti, the Patriarch’s expression flickered several tis over.
Garethon was an anomaly even amongst the Seijin. A child that was exceptionally difficult to read.
Sotis he seed easily manipulated, and yet at other tis it would seem as though he was wise beyond his years. It was truly odd...
It could also be said that he was the cruelest amongst this generation of Seijin. That wasn’t just because of his kills—anyone could kill, and anyone could kill en masse, especially if you ca from such a powerful Clan.
The real problem were those external thods... the ways in which he treated his extras and subordinates, the harrowing tales of torture they were put through, and the sort of power they gained after surviving this torture.
Garethon was an anomaly for another reason, though...
He had never appeared on the Mandate Leaderboard.
For a Seijin, this was absolutely unheard of and made little sense at all. Even the weakest of Seijin—if one could be a weak Seijin in the first place—were all firmly within the top ten without a single fail. For one of them to not appear at all...
Many speculated that Garethon was still in Silver Mancy. But that made little sense as well because he had been alive for far too long. No Seijin would take so long to enter Gold Mancy.
The trouble was that all Seijin Tribulations were enigmas as well. While many geniuses would proudly proclaim their Tribulations, the Seijin often took theirs in secret.
It would be like one day they were Silver Mancers, and the next day they would appear on the leaderboards silent and almost ruthlessly.
No one but they knew how they took Tribulations, and so were even beginning to speculate that Garethon was actually avoiding his own.
"Do we know why?"
"No. But you know the Seijin only ever hide their Tribulations, their actual movents themselves... they’re almost too free and open with them. He hasn’t made his path a secret at all and he’s practically a beacon.
"From what we can tell, he went to the Luminescent Moon Sect, and now they’re setting out again toward..."
"Toward?" Patriarch Black frowned.
Truthfully, Patriarch Black spent most of his ti trying to break into the Divine Realm these days. These affairs were being relayed to him by his daughter because with her strength, she was practically the de facto leader by now in all but official na and title.
This ti, she had only proven herself all the more, so though it wasn’t very conventional to pass on such duties to one’s daughter, Patriarch Black wasn’t actually opposed to it at all.
One of the reasons why was because his daughter was always decisive and straightforward in doing things. Sothing like hesitating and tiptoeing around an issue was unlike her. So why was she pausing now?
"... I don’t think we should involve ourselves in this, Father. There’s sothing odd going on and it feels like there are several masterminds in the dark plucking strings and orchestrating things."
"Explain."
"From our reports, they’re headed toward the Firewing Empire. Or, rather, they’re drawing a large-scale teleportation formation that will get them there. They had the support of Diana."
A flashing image of a little girl sucking on a lollipop ca to Patriarch Black’s mind.
"They?"
"It seems that Garethon is together with the Patriarch of the Luminescent Moon Sect. However, it doesn’t seem by choice. The latter has grown... old and feeble in ways that aren’t consistent with what we’ve known about him in the past."
"And why do you say we should avoid this?"
"There’s too many players, too much chaos, it feels like everything is boiling over into a world war and if such a thing happens, the ones to get the short end of the stick will be us. But, if we hang back, and swallow our pride for a mont to let everyone else fight it out instead, maybe whoever is playing things in the background will manage to rope the Tyre Clan in as well and in the end, it’ll be us who co out on top instead.
"We’re in a unique place to sit on the sidelines because all of the fighting seems to be happening in our territory. The Tyre Clan is different, though. They’re way out of bounds and completely untouched. That won’t be allowed for long—."
Karra had just been finishing her words when a jade badge on her waist shook and vibrated. She picked it up instantly, and when she saw the ssage, her face blanched, becoming completely pale in an instant of ti.
"What is wrong?"
"Father, the Tyre... the Tyre are launching a full-out assault on us. They’ve declared all-out war."
