Chapter 4: Sudden Call

Lin Xiao dragged the injured young man with him. There was no noticeable feature from this half dead outer disciple of Taiyi Sect. All Lin Xiao knew was that the wounds were deep, and he could only do basic treatnt.

It was nearly night when Lin Xiao headed back to the house.

"Brother, I almost thought that you got lost," Lin Yun walked out of the house with worried expression. He looked at the half dead person that Lin Xiao dragged with astonished expression. "Brother, this is....?"

"I don’t know. I found him near the river. Can you check on him?"

"Oh."

Lin Yun helped Lin Xiao and brought the injured man to Lin Xiao’s bed. They didn’t have spare bed because they have sold any they had in the past to cover up their expense. Only two beds and so basic furniture were left in this small house.

"The basic treatnt is not that bad, Brother. You’re getting better."

"Of course! Your brother is the best."

Lin Yun chose to ignore his brother and focused on the treatnt. His father used to be a doctor in the village before his death, so he had learnt how to beco one ever since young age. Lin Xiao also learnt, but aside from identifying herbs, Lin Xiao didn’t have much talent in the field.

The wounds on the stranger’s body was deep and looked gory. It made one wonder what could possibly happen to him. There were several different weapon’s cuts on the skin as if soone was determined to kill him.

"How is it?" Lin Xiao chose to cook while waiting for Lin Yun to finish on checking the wounded stranger. There was nothing much he could help aside from preparing the herbs.

"It’s bad."

"How bad?"

"There are at least wounds from three different weapons," Lin Yun said helplessly. He looked at the injured disciple once more and sighed. "I already bandaged his wounds and closed his wounds, but it would take a long ti for him to heal properly."

"That’s good enough."

"I can’t really do much."

Lin Yun was still not as good as his parents, so there was a limit to what he could do. The herbs they stored here were also not many, so they couldn’t use the expensive one that was more effective.

If there were any better herbs, it would have long been used to heal Lin Yun.

"Let him rest for today." Lin Xiao shoved the bowl of soup to Lin Yun. "Eat first and sleep. It’ll be night ti soon."

"Alright. You should rest too, Brother."

"I will."

Finishing the bowl, Lin Yun furrowed his brows. He could guess that his brother must have mixed herb to his bowl again. Whenever it was Lin Xiao’s turn to cook, he would add the nutritional herbs to boost Lin Yun’s health.

The herbs were one of the main reasons why Lin Yun still could get stronger in his martial arts despite not training as intensively as Lin Xiao. After all, cultivation was always a contest of wealth. Only those who were wealthy enough could possibly reach the peak with their power.

’Tonight will be a long night.’

Sitting on the edge of his own room, Lin Xiao sighed. His eyes were looking at the figure at his bed while he bundled himself in a thin layer of blanket. He would surely have so difficulties to sleep, but he still needed to rest.

Closing his eyes, Lin Xiao could faintly sense his surroundings. This was one of the few things that he trained from a long ti ago. The ability to sense his enemies and allies was very important, so he was learning to do so before going to sleep every day.

The night passed quietly.

Lin Xiao opened his eyes early in the morning. As if there was a clock inside his body, he would always wake up on ti. Stretching his body, Lin Xiao walked out of the room and prepared their breakfast, a simple soup.

He had only finished cooking when his brother walked out of his room.

"Brother, how’s that disciple?"

"He’s still sleeping like a log inside my room," Lin Xiao responded. "With that disciple’s heavy wounds, there’s no way he’ll be able to heal anyti soon. When he wakes up, just inform ."

"Sure, Brother."

"I’ll do my morning training."

Tying bags of sand on his hands and legs, Lin Xiao began to jog around the residence. Every morning, he would always train without fail to increase his stamina and power. Jogging, push up, sit up, and ditating beca extrely common for him.

Lin Yun would also do basic exercise, but the intensity couldn’t match his brother.

Deng! Deng!

Lin Xiao stood up and wiped his sweat. He had finished his morning practice as he looked in the direction of the village.

That bell...

"Brother, that’s the bell that called everyone in the village to gather, right?"

"Only the representative from each household is enough," Lin Xiao responded. But for this bell to be sounded, it ant that sothing urgent had occurred. As for what it was, Lin Xiao had no idea at all.

But he felt that it must be sothing bad.

Lin Yun frowned and looked in the direction of the village with worry. If there was sothing bad, it might be...

"What if it’s beast horde, Brother?"

"We’ll move," Lin Xiao said decisively. They might be staying in hidden place here, but they were still outside the village, which ant that they might be the target of beast horde. If they didn’t want to die, it would be better to figure out another place to stay rather than at this place.

"But..."

"I’ll check. anwhile, you should prepare for the worst but don’t go outside, Yun!"

"Yes, Brother."
