Chapter 315: Chapter 315. Distraction and Infiltration Teams

White Cloud City’s security wasn’t as good as Qishurg City’s. The White Cloud Sect was in charge of the city, after all. Only a few kingdom soldiers were inside the city. Their primary task was to protect the kingdom officials in the city hall, whose responsibility was mainly to receive reports from the White Cloud Sect.

Hence, there were no kingdom soldiers registering everyone who went in and out of the city. There was not even a city wall to prevent people from traveling in and out of the city as they wished. The Demon Gang and Vicious mbers entered the city inconspicuously. They stayed separated and road around different parts of the city to avoid detection. All the while waiting for Amon’s signal.

As for Amon and his team, they were canvassing the Wei Clan Estate.

Amon had already conducted reconnaissance on the estate while he was living in White Cloud City. He did it again to ensure he was aware in case the landscapes changed during his absence.

They canvassed the periter of the estate under disguise. Tuang Yin and Wu Di were not from White Cloud City, but Amon still made them wear disguises. Amon didn’t want a freak accident where soone recognized the two as Royal Academy students.

At night, Amon went alone and infiltrated the Wei Clan Estate to study the interior. With his Concealed Ghost Body and stealth expertise, he could avoid detection. He avoided the main building because that was where the prominent mbers lived. These were mbers whose cultivation was at the Martial Realm. If he focused on his Grandmaster-level Concealed Ghost Body, his invisibility should hide him from being detected by even a Spirit Stage like Wei Suang Sou. Of course, that was considering if Wei Suang Sou didn’t get too close, but he preferred not to take the risk.

They did this for almost three weeks. Firstly, it was because Amon wanted to ensure he had studied everything in detail. Secondly, it was because he noticed outsiders not from the Wei Clan hanging around the place.

He had suspected the reason the Wei Clan held so Lin Clan survivors as prisoners because they thought they could use these prisoners to lure Amon out.

After Lin Clan’s massacre, most of the kingdom’s army left White Cloud City. The kingdom army was not a force that could afford to leisurely stay at one place. Many ergencies required their attention. So, even if Pu Zhang wanted to, he couldn’t have the soldiers stay to wait for Amon to appear.

At first, Pu Zhang and Jiang Bo stayed at Wei Clan accompanied by a few capable soldiers. But after one week, they decided they couldn’t stay longer. Pu Zhang might be upset with Amon, but the student was only a minor matter. The fourth prince had many tasks requiring his attention. So, he had to leave. Jiang Bo and the others left with him.

The ones who continued to stay were guests from the Yan Clan. These were the outsiders Amon noticed. These people also left after hanging around for a few weeks. They figured Amon should have received the news. If he still didn’t co by now, it ant he didn’t consider Lin Clan survivors worth saving.

They, too, left because they had matters to take care of.

During these three weeks of waiting, Amon perceived the alertness of Wei Clan mbers even if they tried to hide it. They must have expected him to co barging in with his full force. They were half right. He did co, but he didn’t barge in.

Amon also encountered an old acquaintance during this waiting period. He sensed soone following when he was out canvassing with his team. He asked his team to continue as usual while he stealthily moved away and sneaked behind their tracker. He originally planned to slay this tracker but changed his mind after learning the tracker’s identity.

When he was about to call out to this tracker, the tracker surprised him by turning to him.

"You are Lin Mo, aren’t you?" The tracker asked.

Amon was surprised that the tracker knew his position. He was using the Concealed Ghost Body, and this tracker was not a Martial Realm cultivator. Plus, the tracker also knew his identity despite his disguise. Amon didn’t show a surprised face, though.

"Why are you following us, Lei San?" Amon asked without confirming Lei San’s statent.

Lei San didn’t seem to need the confirmation. He said, "I know what you are here for. I can help you with information."

Amon didn’t trust Lei San but decided to hear the man out. They spent so ti conversing.

A few days later, the Yan Clan mbers left. Wei Clan seed to relax after that. Most of them no longer believed Amon would co to free his clan mates. They went back to their routines.

Seeing the change, combined with Lei San’s information, Amon decided it was ti to strike. He gathered the leaders of his force in an inn. There, he had a final eting.

"We will divide into two teams. The first team is the main assault force, which also serves as a distraction. The second team will infiltrate this building," Amon said while pointing at a map of the Wei Clan Estate.

"What’s so special about that building?" Tuang Yin asked.

"If Lin Clan mbers were imprisoned, they should be here," Amon answered.

"Really? It looks too small for a prison," Wu Di stated.

"It has a basent underneath it," Amon said. "I’ve seen people go in and out of the place. The traffic was too high for a building that small. They also brought in food for more than the people who entered the building. The building was heavily guarded despite its size. The biggest tell was these sentries’ positions. They were situated facing the building. They were preventing soone from escaping rather than soone sneaking in."

"Great! If we know where the prison is, let’s throw everything we have at this place," Wu Di said. "With overwhelming power, we can save the prisoners in a short ti and leave before Wei Clan knows what is going on."

"Boss said two teams, then its two teams," Qiang Dan uttered.

"If Wei Clan’s jails in the basent are anything like the Lin Clan’s, the extraction won’t be fast even if we can defeat all the sentries in a short ti," Amon explained. "Most likely, the basent down there is built like a maze. Wei Clan’s Martial Realm cultivators will arrive before we can save the prisoners."

"Hm... Okay then," Wu Di said. He wasn’t bothered that his suggestion was declined.

"Xin Wuming will lead the second team," Amon announced. "Tuang Yin, Wu Di, and seven other Vicious mbers will assist him. This team’s objective is to infiltrate the jail, find the prisoners, and free Lin Clan mbers imprisoned inside. Do not hesitate to kill the sentries or any Wei Clan mbers you encounter. Will you have a problem with that?"

The last sentence was directed at Wu Di.

"I told you already. Wei Clan deserves punishnt for what they did to your clan," Wu Di said. "That said, I won’t agree to unconstrained killing against civilians. If we encounter children or non-cultivators, I won’t let them be slaughtered."

"Hmph," Amon harrumphed but didn’t oppose Wu Di’s proclamation.

"Everyone else will be in the first team. I will lead them," Amon said.

"Why don’t you lead the infiltration team?" Tuang Yin asked Amon. "You should be the one who saved your mother."

"Our chance of success is better if I am involved in distracting the Wei Clan’s main force. It doesn’t matter who does the saving. What’s important is we pull off the save."

"I’m ready! We will give the Wei Clan hell!" Qiang Dan declared.

"So, do we move imdiately, boss?" Lu Fei asked.

"No, we will carry out our plan four days from now," Amon answered.

"Why?" Tuang Yin asked. "The longer we wait, the lower the chance for the prisoners to survive. We can’t even say for sure if there are any Lin Clan mbers still alive under that basent."

"If we are hasty, we will fail in saving the prisoners and lose our mbers in the process," Amon said. "If we do this, we do it right."

"Why four days from now?" Wu Di asked.

"The Wei Clan is hosting a grand feast in their estate three days from now. Wei Clan invites this city’s prominent clans and individuals to this feast. The feast is to celebrate the Wei Clan’s increase in status. They have always been subordinates of the Lei Clan. Their cooperation in annihilating the Lin Clan had gained them the favor of Pu Zhang. The senior minister negotiated with the White Cloud Sect, granting Lei Clan special privileges to improve their business. This let them replace Lin Clan as one of the big three of White Cloud City."

"Pah! They committed such an atrocity and were rewarded instead. This pisses

off to no end," Wu Di uttered.

"You said we act four days from now? So, we will act after the Wei Clan’s grand feast?" Tuang Yin asked.

Amon nodded. "After the feast, Wei Clan will hold another, smaller celebration. This one is only partaken by the Wei Clan mbers. You may call it an afterparty. The prominent Wei Clan mbers will all gather in the main hall. We will hit them when they are concentrated there. With us taking their attention, the second team can have enough ti to search the prison."

"Are you sure? I heard the Wei clan master is a Spirit Stage cultivator," Wu Di said. "Your chance of winning is very small even if you catch them off-guard. Not to ntion, with all the Wei Clan’s important mbers gathering there, their number won’t be fewer than the troops you bring here."

"You let

worry about that. Your job is to make sure you save the prisoners," Amon said.

Wu Di was not happy with Amon’s response. He was worried Amon overestimated his ability. He was about to say sothing when Tuang Yin stopped him, "If he says he can do it, he can do it. Stop being a nag."

Now, Wu Di’s discontent turned to Tuang Yin due to her comnt.

Amon didn’t bother with them. He told everyone, "This eting is dismissed. The second team goes with Xin Wuming. Yang Li, Qiang Dan, and Lu Fei follow . We will discuss further the details of our attack plan."
