Chapter 180: Chapter 180. Fighting for a Chance

In the following days, the rotation repeated. In the end, everyone had the chance to pair up with everybody in their cells. Everyone had the sa questions about what the point of all this was. Amon didn’t care who he was with inside the cell. Though he preferred a silent cellmate like Yong Lei, he still bore it when it was the chatty one who entered, like Zong Kui or Fan Niang.

One day, it was different. When the cell door opened, Amon expected them to get reshuffled again to different cells. However, the jailors called for both him and his cellmate to co out.

Outside in the corridor, he saw the other five standing there.

"What do you want?" Li Shi asked.

One of the jailors grinned. "We are going to take you to have a little fun."

"Fun? What do you an?!" Li Shi asked again, but she did not get any answer this ti.

The jailor, who spoke, pointed at Li Shi, Zong Kui, and Fan Niang. "Take those three away!" He ordered.

"What?! Where do you want to take us to?" Zong Kui asked anxiously.

The jailors didn’t answer his question either. They forcefully dragged both Zong Kui and Fan Niang away.

"No! No! Let go! What are you going to do to us?!" Fan Niang cried hysterically. Tears stread down her face.

"Stop it! Let them go!!" Li Shi couldn’t stand her students getting dragged away like that. She tried to stop them.

The Jailor, who had spoken earlier, reacted by shoving a fist into Li Shi’s chest. He was an Interdiate Mystic stage, one stage higher than Li Shi. The punch also ca abruptly. Li Shi was forced back and slamd into the wall. Blood leaked from her mouth.

"You better not try anything else," The jailor warned. "Now, are you going to follow obediently?"

Li Shi could only stare at the jailor with hatred and anger. She was angry at how powerless she was. She was supposed to be responsible for these students.

"Now, follow ," the jailor ordered. "You will just suffer if you try to resist. Save your strength for later. You are going to need it."

The other jailors laughed at the remark. The captives had a bad feeling hearing their laughs, but they had no choice but to follow the instructions. Li Shi was taken away while the remaining four students walked in a different direction while being flanked by the jailors, preventing them from escaping while on the move.

They ca to a large hall. Many people were there. In the center was a large open space, an arena. Two people were sparing in that arena. Around them were people cheering. Up on one side was an elevated platform. One of the rebels’ three elders, Luan Xuan, was sitting there among a few other people. The other two elders were nowhere to be seen.

Amon and the others were herded to a nearby long table with four chairs arranged to face the arena.

"Sit. Enjoy the show," The lead jailor said.

"Yeah, enjoy the show. After that, you will have to entertain us," the aide beside the lead jailor said. The others laughed.

The five sat on the prepared chairs. The jailors stood behind them. It was not necessary. There were just too many people here for the captives to try anything.

Amon looked around. He still didn’t see an opportunity. He turned his attention to the two people sparring inside the arena. From the aura they exuded when they used their art, they were both in the Transformation stage.

When they entered this hall, they thought the two inside the arena were sparring. But after observation, it didn’t look like a spar. The two fought as if their lives depended on it. Both had bloody wounds. Even though they didn’t use weapons, the arts they executed were ant to take their respective opponents’ lives.

After a heated battle, one of the fighters finally landed a fatal hit. His fingers sliced through his opponent’s neck, opening it up. Blood gushed out as the opponent fell weakly to the floor.

"Haha! Good fight! You have earned a chance for your freedom," Luan Xuan uttered from above.

"A chance? I thought you said the one who survives will be granted freedom?" The winner in the arena said.

"Did I say that? You must have heard wrong. I said the one who wins will be granted a chance," Luan Xuan said. He turned to an aide by his side. "Did I not say that?" He asked.

"Yes, my Lord. That is what I heard as well. There must be sothing wrong with his ears," The aide agreed and laughed. The spectators around the hall laughed as well.

Amon and the others realized then that the two fighting in the arena were also prisoners like them.

"Will they make us fight to the death too?" Jie i asked with a horrified feeling. No one answered her.

Luan Xuan addressed the man in the arena again. "This ti, if you win, you will truly be freed. Everyone heard

already this ti, right? If I don’t free this man if he wins again, let

be struck by the Gods!"

The crowds cheered. The winner in the arena looked skeptical at first, but hope was seen on his face again. Amon thought this was normal. Desperate people would try to grasp any ray of hope available, even if the chance was extrely unlikely.

Two people ca and removed the dead body from the arena. Another entered the arena.

"This is your next opponent," Luan Xuan declared from above. "He is also an interdiate Transformation stage cultivator. Win, and you will earn your freedom."

This new opponent lifted his hands to rile up the crowd. It was clear from his acts that he was not a prisoner. He was one of the rebels.

The new opponent grinned and said, "I am Luan Fo. Rember this na as you go to the afterlife."

The prisoner didn’t answer. He put up a fighting pose. As long as his opponent was at the sa cultivation level as him, there was still hope.

"Hehe, let’s dance," Luan Fo said.
