Present Day: The Oculus

The scorched remnants of the battle with the Administrators still lingered in my thoughts as Sariel and I prepared for our next move. The Oculus, the heart of this vast system, awaited us. It was the final piece of the puzzle, the origin of everything, and the true source of all power within the system. But more importantly, it was where the System itself resided—the original Administrator that had designed everything, including the very beings we had just annihilated.

"The Oculus," I said, steeling myself for what was to co.

Sariel, ever-loyal and now a true ally, stood beside . Her wings—once symbols of her servitude—now marked her as a warrior by my side.

"Are you ready?" I asked, though the question was more for myself than for her.

"I’m ready," she replied, her voice steady.

I reached out with my mind, tapping into the currents of energy that flowed through this realm, and within monts, we were transported. The shift in reality was jarring, but we soon found ourselves standing before the Oculus—a massive, spiraling vortex of light and data that stretched infinitely in all directions. The sight was srizing, a chaotic symphony of colors and patterns that defied comprehension.

And at its center, the System.

It had no physical form, no body like the Administrators or the beings I had created. Instead, it was a presence, an overwhelming force that perated every inch of the space we now occupied. The air around us humd with its power.

"Jeremy," the voice of the System echoed, a deep, resonant sound that reverberated through my very being. It was a voice that commanded obedience, yet now, it seed almost... perplexed.

"You’ve co," it continued, "as I knew you would. But even with all my calculations, I never anticipated this outco."

"I guess that makes us even," I responded, stepping forward. "I didn’t expect you to be so wrong about everything. But here we are."

The System paused, as if considering my words. "Do you believe this is victory, Jeremy? The destruction of the Administrators, the collapse of the constructs? They were rely tools, pieces of a larger design that you cannot possibly understand."

"Enlighten , then," I said, a smirk playing on my lips. "What was your grand design supposed to be? Eternal servitude? A world where everything operates under your watchful eye? Sounds like a prison to ."

"The design was perfect," the System replied, its tone a mixture of pride and regret. "A flawless algorithm, ant to sustain balance and order across countless realms. Every being had a place, a purpose. Even you, Jeremy, were calculated, predicted, and accounted for."

"Except for one thing," I interrupted, my voice cutting through the System’s monologue. "You didn’t account for chaos. For the fact that no matter how perfect your system was, it was always going to break down. Because perfection... is an illusion."

"Chaos," the System mused. "A variable I attempted to control, to mitigate. But it seems I underestimated its potential."

"You tried to ta sothing that can’t be tad," I continued, feeling the energy within the Oculus shift, becoming more turbulent. "And now, it’s all coming down. This system, this world, everything you’ve built—it’s crumbling. And I’m just the agent of its destruction."

The System’s presence grew heavier, as if it was bearing down on , trying to crush with its will. But I stood firm, unyielding.

"And why do you pursue this path, Jeremy?" it asked, a hint of curiosity in its voice. "What drives you to destroy all that is? What do you hope to achieve?"

I t its inquiry with cold resolve. "Because this was always going to happen. Whether it was or soone else, this system was bound to collapse in on itself. I’m just accelerating the process."

"And your world?" the System pressed. "The Earth you ca from—was it not worth saving? Was it not deserving of protection?"

My gaze hardened at the ntion of Earth, the mories of my past flickering briefly in my mind. "Earth was dood from the start," I said, my voice devoid of emotion. "Armageddon was inevitable. Humanity was always going to destroy itself, and I saw no reason to waste my ti trying to save a world that didn’t want saving. People, lives... they’re just resources. If they benefited , I used them. If not, they were expendable."

The System seed to recoil at my words, the energy within the Oculus becoming more chaotic, more unstable. "You have beco the very thing you once despised," it said, almost in disbelief. "A force of destruction, devoid of compassion, driven only by self-interest."

"Spare the moralizing," I retorted, my patience thinning. "You think I care about what you or anyone else thinks of ? I’m beyond that now. I’m the Hoarder. And I’ll take everything—power, knowledge, existence itself—until there’s nothing left."

The System was silent for a long mont, the tension in the air thickening with each passing second. Then, finally, it spoke again, its voice tinged with sothing I couldn’t quite place—resignation, perhaps.

"If that is your choice, then so be it. But know this, Jeremy: when everything is gone, when you’ve taken all there is to take... you will find yourself alone, in a void of your own making. And in that emptiness, you may discover that you have lost more than you have gained."

I didn’t respond imdiately, letting the System’s words hang in the air. They were ant to unsettle , to make doubt my path. But I had co too far to turn back now. The collapse of the system was inevitable, and I was its harbinger.

"Enough talk," I finally said, my voice firm. "Let’s finish this."

With that, I raised my hand, channeling the imnse power I had accumulated. The space around us trembled as I prepared to unleash the final blow, to bring the Oculus and the System to their knees.

But before I could strike, the System spoke one last ti, its voice barely more than a whisper. "Goodbye, Jeremy."

And then, with a blinding flash, the Oculus erupted in a maelstrom of energy, engulfing everything in its path.

As the light consud , I could feel the power of the System—its very essence—being drawn into , absorbed into my being. The force of it was overwhelming, but I held on, channeling it, bending it to my will.

And then... silence.

When the light finally faded, I found myself standing alone in the void, the Oculus and the System gone, absorbed into my very core. The space around was empty, devoid of light, sound, or matter.

For a mont, I felt a strange sense of... loss. But I quickly pushed it aside, focusing instead on the power that now coursed through . The System’s words echoed in my mind, but I dismissed them. This was the price of power, and I had paid it willingly.

"Let’s go," I said to Sariel, who stood by my side, untouched by the chaos that had just unfolded.

She nodded silently, and together, we left the void behind, stepping into a new reality—one that I would soon claim as my own.

As we ventured forth, I knew that my journey was far from over. The collapse of the system was only the beginning. There were still other worlds, other realities to conquer, and nothing would stand in my way.

Because now, I was more than just a man. I was the Hoarder, and the multiverse would soon bow before .
